Sep 3, 2010Really loving this phone (8520) and a massive leap from my last phone.
Having trouble with connecting to my or my works wifi. It registers both routers and displays the name across at the top of the phone and in wifi settings I have a black square with a white dash line and a green wifi symbol.
I have a Asda pay as you go sim which is fine for the calls text etc but I hearing not so good for the Internet.
I have managed to get the browser going with the Hotspot setting but I'm guessing this isn't using my home wifi as it as slow as a snail and keeps cutting out.
Without Hotspot enabled it tries to use VodaphoneLive and I get the message "unable to connect to the Internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider"

Oct 17, 2010I've been trying to get my phone to connect to my existing home Internet connection, which is wireless. I gave this thought because my husband's IPhone connects to our home network so easily. How do I get my C901 to do this? Or is it not possible?
When I tried to set up the My Presence section within the phone I entered in my username, password and then it asked me for server information so I entered in what I thought was the right info, but now it keeps giving me a network error failure message.

Jun 25, 2010So while my 4 is connected to 3G, it just churns away in safari or speed tests, full bars.
When I connect it to the edge, it works like it should. I can also make phone calls with the 3g on, but not use the internet at all.
This is without even having the phone in my hand. I dont think this is related to all other issues with reception.

Mar 22, 2012I'll be in Europe for two months and will be taking my iPhone 4 although I don't want to use the phone or data. Is the best way to ensure I won't be using the cell towers is to activate airplane mode and then turn Wi-Fi on? Or is there a better way to be allowed to use Wi-Fi but not the cell towers?
More importantly, I want to be able to use the Navigation program (just the standard one that iPhone 4 comes with) to navigate my way around on foot and in the car. Can this be done exclusively over the GPS satellites? Is there a way to download the maps to the phone or will I need an internet connection to have the maps?

Apr 5, 2012I've been using my MacBook Pros, iPads, and iPhones for years with no WiFi issues. Now suddenly, every time I return home with my iPhone, my WiFi connection is lost on ALL of my devices — even the MacBook Pro and iPad, which both remain at home.
So every time I return home, I have to shut everything off, unplug my Airport Express, unplug my modem, plug them both back in, and restart my three devices.

I turned on my 3G network this morning, and again, everything's going perfectly fine with my connection. I came home around half 4 from school and decided to turn on my WiFi connection at home, what I've realized is that whenever I try turning on my WiFi network, the little sign that's usually at the top doesn't appear anymore. I tried resetting the network settings and closing and opening my phone, but.. This didn't really make any difference.I have tried reconnecting to my WiFi but nothing happened, my Bluetooth's never really turned on.

Jun 30, 2010I was wondering this the other day. Does Facetime require an active connection to the Internet to work? By this, I mean if you have two iPhone4 users on the same wifi network (not connected to the Internet), can they use facetime to v-chat?
I'm thinking if you're in a work environment where you can't attach wifi routers to the network, could I bring in an old wifi router and just plug in the power? Then anyone with an iPhone4 could connect to this network just for Facetime (and perhaps stuff like filesharing, printersharing, etc).

May 11, 2012I have an Iphone 3G. Using GPS seems to cost me money every time I access it? (unless I am in a free Wi-Fi area) I assume it connects to the Internet. I did not realise that it needed the internet. I have GPS in my car and it seems to connect with the Satellite immediately. The Iphone does not seem to operate in the same way. Jun 5, 2014I am able to connect to my wifi and it shows with both a check mark and the wireless bars in the top right of my phone that I am connected to wifi but when I try to refresh apps using the internet or pull up the internet browser it says I have no internet connection. I have a tablet the connects to the same network with out any problems and has full internet access so it's something with my phone. I have tried forgetting the network and reconnecting along with resetting my network settings. nothing seems to be working.
