IPhone :: Can Use My Macbook's Internet Connection On It
Apr 7, 2012
I am going away to India and we only have wired Internet in our office. I want to be able to still use my iPhone to send and receive data I don't want to pay roaming fees for this data Can I (either wired or wireless) connect and use the Macbook's internet connection? It is iPhone 4 (5.1) and latest Macbook Air?
Okay, once again I return here to seek guidance and wisdom. Fellow members here told me about Air Video, a terrific set of programs for iOS and OS X to stream videos from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone 4. Now, my other need (?). I want to run something on my Mac that lets me select Internet radio station streams like TuneIn for ex., but I want to be able to change selections on whatever is on the Mac from the iPhone 4. What I want to do is use the iPhone 4 as a remote for the app on the Mac which I want to connect to either some external speakers or someday to a real external Dac, amp, and speakers.
I have the TuneIn Pro app on my iPhone 4 already and on the Mac via browser have accessed their website. Now someone surely is going to mention Airplay or something to stream from the iPhone4. From the cost of Airplay capable hardware, I just can't afford it yet. Maybe if I could find Bluetooth speaker or device?
One other thing to throw in for thought. I have not only iTunes on my MacBook Pro, but also Fidelia and Amarra, and thinking about Decibel or Audirvana. In other words somewhat hi-def music output quality available on the Mac. So....I do have a remote app for Fidelia and think there's one for either Decibel or Audirvana, so that brings me back to Internet radio on the MacBook Pro. If I can find a way to use the iPhone 4 to select an app on the Mac for Internet radio, I can play those plus hi-def music via one of those programs. If nothing else, can you recommend inexpensive Bluetooth speakers to play radio from the iPhone4? I was hoping to buy some AudioEngine powered speakers for the Mac, hence the desire to run all sound/music through that device but using the iPhone4 as control device.
I've upgraded my 3 to a 4s today, and in the 02 shop the guy fiddled with my internet on my old phone and did something with the sim, and now i've synced my new phone and can't get internet connection.
My Macbook pro can send pictures to my RAZR but the phone cannot make a connection to the Macbook. each device 'knows' the other is there as the confirmation and handshake was successful. What I can do to get the bluetooth to work from the phone to the computer?
I am connected to Wi-Fi but unable to connect to the internet like FB,Yahoo or other websites. My sister used to connect to wifi but now that I am using her handset, I cannot do so.
I'll be in Europe for two months and will be taking my iPhone 4 although I don't want to use the phone or data. Is the best way to ensure I won't be using the cell towers is to activate airplane mode and then turn Wi-Fi on? Or is there a better way to be allowed to use Wi-Fi but not the cell towers?
More importantly, I want to be able to use the Navigation program (just the standard one that iPhone 4 comes with) to navigate my way around on foot and in the car. Can this be done exclusively over the GPS satellites? Is there a way to download the maps to the phone or will I need an internet connection to have the maps?
I own the Iphone 4S black, 16 Gb. Today was the first day when it happened. All day long, my 3g internet connection worked perfectly, suddenly when I got home it stopped working. I switched off and on the phone - no success. I turned off the 3G function in order to use EDGE - on EDGE it works.
I upgraded my IOS on my iphone 4 to 5.1.1. and I cannt connect to the internet now.....apple stuff are just overpriced fancy pieces of jewlery....I tried all the online solutions and none work....I have had enough with their products....If they had done their job like a normal company would they would have tested this and warned people on the possible dangers...OR not release it at all until they fixed them!
Once I cut my iphone on in my house, it says that it is connected to the internet, but once I try to send out text messages , it closes out and doesn't send the message. Then when I try to get into any of my other apps , they close out as well and I don't know what happens.
I was wondering this the other day. Does Facetime require an active connection to the Internet to work? By this, I mean if you have two iPhone4 users on the same wifi network (not connected to the Internet), can they use facetime to v-chat?
I'm thinking if you're in a work environment where you can't attach wifi routers to the network, could I bring in an old wifi router and just plug in the power? Then anyone with an iPhone4 could connect to this network just for Facetime (and perhaps stuff like filesharing, printersharing, etc).
I added international calling to my AT&T plan. It lost the ability to connect to the internet via the AT&T cell network, although it could still make phone calls, and could still connect to the internet via a WiFi network. After three weeks of attempts to fix this myself, I eventually called AT&T. The tech support people were very friendly and helpful, of course, and eventually discovered that my cell-to-internet privileges had been rescinded because they thought someone might have stolen my phone.
I want to download an App for my iPhone. It keeps timing out saying the internet connection was lost.. but my internet is working just fine. Similarly I can't just download it from my iPhone via 3g because it is also saying Internet connection Lost. help.
I have an Iphone 3G. Using GPS seems to cost me money every time I access it? (unless I am in a free Wi-Fi area) I assume it connects to the Internet. I did not realise that it needed the internet. I have GPS in my car and it seems to connect with the Satellite immediately. The Iphone does not seem to operate in the same way. For example, if I plan a route using my Iphone in a Wi-Fi Area (my own), when I go outside to follow the route and proceed along the various steps, do I still need an internet connection?.
I have an iPhone 5. It keeps losing internet connection. t does this whether I am using WiFi or 4G/LTE. Any app that uses internet connection will not load, connect, or update. I reset it the first time it did it, and my connection came back. It did it again, and now even resetting is not working. FYI...I did update to 7.1.1 about 2 weeks ago. This just started yesterday. What good is an iPhone with no internet connection..
I am able to connect to my wifi and it shows with both a check mark and the wireless bars in the top right of my phone that I am connected to wifi but when I try to refresh apps using the internet or pull up the internet browser it says I have no internet connection. I have a tablet the connects to the same network with out any problems and has full internet access so it's something with my phone. I have tried forgetting the network and reconnecting along with resetting my network settings. nothing seems to be working.
Last night I tried to update my software on my Iphone 4s. I lost internet connection during the night, and now my phone is stuck with the apple logo and loading bar. I cannot turn off the phone, or back it up because ITunes says it is locked with a passcode.Â
My partner recently accidentally tried to update to ios 5.1 out of wifi and it has crashed her phone (stuck on apple logo). We have been trying for 3 days to restore her iphone 4S through itunes 10.6 (Windows). However, the download always times out and we lose DSL connection for a minute or so. I have also tried to d/l 5.0.1 and 5.0 from websites offering direct links to appldnld.apple.com and the same thing happens everytime. Usually at about 9%. I lose internet my ADLS2+ connection every single time I try to download any apple software through itunes or via direct links through multiple browsers.
My iPhone 4S (with IOS 5.1 and all other App updated) is having an issue with it's internet connection. It remains connected to WiFi fine.Mail/Safari/App Store/Facebook/any internet based app cannot access the internet. No error screen is shown. The standard WiFi icon and the rotating 'in progress' wheel next to it.Sometimes I can restore the in app internet connection by turning WiFi off and then on again but not always.
So what is going on. I've not changed any setting recently to either my iPhone or router. Both have been working fine for months. My iPad and wife's iPhone are both fine also.
Is it actually possible to track iPhone without internet connection? I mean, the iPhone which I am tracking has no internet connection... (Example, has been lost in a foreign country and the roaming data is not On) Anyone has an idea how to do the tracking?
