IPhone :: Lost All Contacts When I Upgraded To IOS5.1
Mar 29, 2012
I upgraded my iPhone 4 from iOS4 to iOS5.1 last night while connected to iTunes. My contacts list became empty when the phone came back on.
I already tried to retrieve the contacts through the following methods:Open a recent Text Message, tap "Contact" and edit.Turn off and on icloud.Import from SIM.Reset the phone and re-sync.Restore from backup. All previous backups from iOS4 are inaccessible.I do not have the contacts list backed up on Windows/Outlook/Google/etc. I was naive to put my trust in Apple.
The contacts are not on icloud.com either.
This is utterly ridiculous. There was no warning about losing contacts. I followed the directions on iTunes and on the phone. My phone is NOT jailbroken. It's Apple hardware and Apple software, I do not see how this happened other than because of a fault on Apple's part. After months of complaints from consumers, there was no warning or fix to this problem that has been well known to Apple. I already wasted more than 4 hours trying to find a way to get the contacts list back to no avail.
Is there a way to get my contacts back or are they lost forever?
When I open iTunes on my computer (Windows 7) the tones are in my library. I attempt to click back up to this computer from my iPhone summary and click "apply" and it reverts back to sync to iCloud. How do I get my tones back?
I upgraded my ios5.0.1 to the latest ios5.1 and since the upgrade I no longer have a ring tone alert for incoming calls although they are set to a default ring tone that comes with the phone. I can go to settings-> sounds-> and slide the sounds and alert volume bar and hear the ring tone. I also lost the keyboard and lock clicks.
so I backup my phone , restore it and the update it, but now after I restore my iphone all the info from my backup all my contacts are lost I tryied to do all those thing with the iCloud (aint worked for me :S) , and i also tried to sync my contacts from the outlook , aint worked either =[
I dont know what to do anymore and those contacts are relly importent to me ...
All my contents on my iphone 4 are lost after I upgraded it to ios 5.1.1. That is includding my contacts too.
Every time I connected my iphone4 back to Itunes. It showed a pop-up menu said " Itunes was interrupted while restoring the contents of the iphone, would you like to restore this iphone again now?" but when I clicked "continue restore" button. It showed another pop-up menu said "an error occurred while restoring this iphone(-50)."
Info:iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1, lost all the backup after upgraded
I was connecting my Curve to my laptop to back up my data. During this process it wanted me to upgrade my desktop program and my handheld OS. Once I was finished with the backup and the upgrades and was able to disconnect, I had to rearrange my icons. During this process I noticed that all my SMS messages were not labled with a sender but just the phone number. Noticing this I quickly checked my contacts and there was about 50 out of 250 contacts listed. I have tried to restore from the back and this resulted in even less people listed in my contacts!
Upgraded to iOS5.1 and where my phone said 3G it now says 4G (At&t phone).. Why do this if apparently the current 4S models are not capable of 4G technology?
I just updated to the ios5 and have lost many of my apps and I'm also having trouble installing new apps - keep getting the message that I Must use the Canadian store, even though I came through the link on the Canada iTunes. Does this have to do with my apple ID being changed to the MobileMe email address?
Yesturday I upgraded my iphone 4 to ios5. When it was done and my phone turned on none of my apps were able to start, the only apps that worked was 'safari' 'messages' and the other apps that came with the phone. After an hour or so my apps started working by them selves but thats when i discoverd that all my contacts were gone. I've been checking out my safty backup that is on my computer (pc) but if i restore my phone the ios5 upgrade will be lost and I would have to re do it with the risk of even worse result. how do i restore my contacts? I disconnected icloud from my phone and want to sync it with my computer but outlook is not an available option to sync with. The default setting is to sync with windows contacts. But when I did that it just created an empty contact with my name and picture of a flower. I also have the option to sync with google contacts and yahoo adress book but if I change there is an error message that says that it will affect all units connected to windows contacts so I don't know if I should change or not. I also tried to create a random contact but no contacts came back, the only thing that happend was that my pictures for the dissapered contacts automaticly ended up as picture for the new contact.
When restarted my computer and reconnects my iPhone, it now prompts saying that iPhone in recovery mode and I must restore before it can be used with iTunes. I am very sure there's 2 backup copies in my (default designated) computer folder, with one being dated 12Mar (the day of updating). I browsed the computer folder while waiting for the downloads in iTunes.
However the backup folder is now empty!! and I can't restore to any previous backup, and my phone cannot be turn on. The iTunes restore button asked if I wanted to restore to original factory settings. How could this happen?!! My Recycle bin has this item "iPhone3,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw".
How can I retreive my previous phone backup, or just return to iOS5.0.1 with its data prior to the 5.1?
So, unfortunate circumstances for a first post here. I'm afraid my WiFi chip is dead and hoping someone can help me realize it's not.I have a Curve 9300, purchased back in April with the fabulous OS 5 on it. My husband and I bought matching phones.
Historically, I've had some WiFi issues here at my house, which could be traced back to a crappy D-Link router. Devices were being "kicked off" the network when more than two were trying to use it (xBox, phone, laptop, etc) It always seemed like my phone had the most trouble staying connected here, but it would always acknowledge that the network was there (it would show up in the list of networks most of the time), and if I went to OTHER houses or public WiFi Hot Spots, I could connect without a problem. About a week ago I upgraded to OS6 (if I had paid better attention to my software update checkboxes, I wouldn't have done it, man I hate OS6) and ever since then, my Curve won't even acknowledge the EXISTENCE of my WiFi network, even after I re-entered all the network information manually. Thinking it was our (straight-from-hell) router, I bought a new Linksys model and set it up... same problem! Since then I have tried changing every setting, manually entering network data repeatedly, even connecting with the WiFi Protected Setup button, and it's just not working. My husband's Curve, meanwhile, is connecting just fine.
I have a BlackBerry Tour on a local CDMA carrier. They recently posted the download that allowed me to upgrade from OS 4.7 to 5.0.0.624. The upgrade appeared to go smoothly and I am back in business with OS 5. The only (BIG) issue is that I have lost the ability to tether. I used to be able to tether via bluetooth with Windows DUN using #777. Now when I attempt to connect I get:Error 678: The remove computer did not respond
I am able to connect to the phone via bluetooth and Sync via BB DM. I can also query the bluetooth modem via control panel.Any suggestions? Has my ISP finally cut off tethering? Is it an OS issue? The only option that I can see is to downgrade back to OS 4.7 unless anyone has any suggestions.
I have just upgraded my BB 8900 to OS 5.0 for the first time and inadvertently backup was not taken, i have lost all my data including huge contacts information.
