I have just read news about one lady's iphone was sent to be repaired in China, and some deleted personal pictures were restored by the repairing technician causing loads troubles for the lady.

2 weeks ago i put my iphone 4s (bought just a year ago) in to washing machine with clothes. It did work with rice but it did come on with 'Reviveaphone" kit. iPhone is charging and texts are coming through but touch screen not responding. So, I think I've lost the battle in getting my iphone back as it was. I'm going to buy a new iphone. But first I want to back up my data on old iphone to icloud - best way to do this? Also, I then want to delete all my personal data from old iphone - but not sure how to do this with iphone screen not working.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI had my ear buds ripped out of my phone recently by a jumping dog. Since then, the jack will not "seat" as securely as it used to. Also the start/stop/microphone that is in the earbud cord does not work at all. The jack seems that it is alnost all the way in, but won't seat all the way in. I'm sure that it can be fixed, but have looked inside the jack and do not see any debris inside that would impede the jack. Maybe the jack was damaged by the quick removal, but I cannot be without the phone for the time for Apple to fix it or Squaretrade (warranty) to replace it.

I want to securely save documents in my Nokia E72 so I will encrypt my memory card, however, i state that if i restore my phone to factory setting then I won't be able to use the data on my memory card!? Is this true?. I'm just afraid I encrypt my memory card and then I have to restore to factory setting even if by mistake and this would mean I will lost all the data on the encrypted memory card or phone.

The app I have problem with is Find My Friends. I updated my phone (iphone 4) just a week ago to the newest version. After the update, Find My Friends worked as usual. But just 2 days ago when I was trying to launch the app and typed in my password, the app suddenly quit. Is there a way to delete the diagnostics and usage data from the iPhone 4S? If so, I don't see it. Seems to me that if these diagnostics and crash logs just continue loading without being deleted, they'd eventually eat up memory? I have it set to NOT automatically send to Apple, since that probably uses up more battery power. Even after sync the iPhone with the iTunes, the logs are still there!

I admit that I am having the hardest time learning how to use this phone and the user's guide is useless. My phone would not let me to a text today because I have too much stored data. I don't get it. I made about 4 texts since I got the phone and my contact list has about 20 contacts. Clearly something is downloading and saving, but I can't even find out how to delete old texts? I can't tell what application I actually need to be working or on, and there's a ton of them that I can't figure out what they do. I got this phone so I could get on line and google if I needed to, but there's just too much crap available that I can't follow understand. I realize I sound pathetic.

From what I can tell, the app that is taking up the most internal space is MotoNav at 17.73 MB (= 17.49 MB of data and 248 KB of app). My trial period has already expired though it appears I can still use it now (I'm assuming with its existing maps).I've read it's hard to remove MotoNav from the phone because it's a system app. That's fine but what happens if I just want to delete all the data from this app? Is that ok? Are there any long term ramifications to do that? What happens if say, I chose to buy an activation key for it at a later date? Will I be able to redownload all that data (the maps, etc) again?

Based on the information from this forum I tried a number of hard resets and updated the OS. Neither worked. Verizon is exchanging the phone, but I don't want to send the phone back with all of my info on it. I have gone through the steps here - [URL] .... however i am unable to switch the phone off completelly - only a soft restart using the power and volume up key - the phone then restarts before i can go to step 4 where i connect the usb holding the volume down button. By that time the phone has restarted.

Allowing the phone to completely run out of battery is not an option as the above requires at least 80% battery even when plugged in.

This needs to be done, occasionally, in order to freshly repopulate the contacts, and not end up with duplicates in the phone. View 7 Replies View RelatedHow to delete unwanted picture data from gallery (XOOM) It's not that simple, in this case. I recently discovered somehow I had downloaded over 490 images into my gallery. Some 21 say Blogger pictures, and 459 are entitled from my Wordpress blog. I don't have a clue how they got on my tablet, and there are many duplicates. The option to delete was not there, just a bunch of places to send the pictures to: Picassa, Gmail, email, etc.
Go to Settings > Applications>Manage Applications > All, and scroll down to find Gallery. Tap to open it up, do a Force Stop first, if open. Then tap Clear Data. I only had 12 pictures on my tablet at this point so I emailed them all to myself, in the event they went poof. Then I held my breath, hit Clear Data, then went in and looked at my Gallery. The downloaded data was gone, all 490+ pictures, and the best part is, my pictures were still there! Those, I can delete from the Xoom, no problem.
Next, I went back into my Gallery, and to my dismay, right before my eyes, those 490+ pictures that were gone, began reloading back into my gallery! Where are they coming from?!?! 21 of them say Blogger Photos, and 459 are entitled "Stella's Blog". I don't have either app on my tablet, I can access either blog by using my browser, and have only done so a couple times. Next, I rebooted the tablet, went back to check the Gallery, and yes, the images were gone, but then they came right back again....where are they coming from and how do I get rid of them permanently?
