IPhone :: Any Way Around Restocking Fee?

Jul 1, 2010

I have a two day old IP4 with very obvious prox sensor defect. Can I return it with no restocking fee since it is a defective phone, and AT&T wont replace it?

Side story, I called the store yesterday and asked if they had stock to do an exchange, and the guy here in Phoenix, was like hold on, I'll check with my manager. He tells me the manager has to check with somebody else, and a day later, I still don't hear anything. So I go to the store and the guy is not there, but the manager is, and he has no idea WTF I am talking about, and says under no terms will they swap out a phone. I have an online order that couldn't be cancelled so when I get that phone, I will return the IP4 and the $35 case I bought with it.

IPhone 3GS :: Ways To Avoid Scams

May 10, 2010

I though I would create a thread for those who buy iPhones via craigslist, eBay, or HoFo They are a few ways to verify what version and if it can be unlocked. Please add if you find anything incorrect or have one of you own.
1. iPhone 3GS are the only models that have Voice Control. Verify this by holding down the home phone to activate it.
2. Know the Apple's website to verify the serial #. This will tell you what version it is. Have the link saved in your pc or smartphone. Calling Apple will take too long
3. As of this post, 3.1.2 and 5.11.07 can be unlocked. modem firmware 5.12.01 cannot at this time. 3.1.3 can be downgraded to 3.1.2, but not the Modem Firmware to 5.11.07. If it really could be done, someone would be doing it and charging alot of $$ to do it.
4. Not sure if this is the case with the new jailbreak, but 3GS model with the 3rd to 5th serial number at or above 940 are mostly likely the tethered jailbreak type. This have been the case from my experiences
5. Verify the size of the phone by going to Settings, General, About. There are times where the back has been changed to represent a different size.
6. Look at the LCD in the light. If you see horizontal lines, the screen may have been replaced. Also replacements don't get as bright as the original LCDs. In my area there are plenty of ads and more stores opening that repair iphones
7. If the buyer is claiming that the phone is unlockable, but it's on the connect to ITunes screen, chances are it's not.
8. Dual Sim iPhones and Mini iPhone are not legit
9. Verify no water damage has occurred by looking at the indicators in the headphone and USB Port.

IPhone :: Avoid International Roaming

Apr 26, 2012

I travelled to Colombia recently and in general, had my phone either turned off, or on airplane mode the entire trip. I only used it for one five minute phone call and to listen to music for about five hours accumulated. I was there for about 8 days.

I was told to put the phone on airplane mode, so as to avoid any roaming charges, as my fellow travel companions (who all also owned iPhones), said "that way nothing comes through. No wi-fi, messages, nothing".

I would like to ask how it is with the charging battery in iphone 5s. I mean to charge so as not to damage the batteries and ensure a long service life. IPhone :: Restore 3GS / Any Way To Avoid Having To Upgrade To Newest Software Version?

Jan 29, 2010

My iPhone 3gs is stuck in that mode where I can't get pass the white Apple logo even after several hard reboots (holding down the power and bottom center button. After a reboot the white apple logo appears and then it just goes away.I figured out how to get the phone to into recovery mode so that iTunes can do a restore, but I am getting the message that says "Are you sure you want to restore the iPhone to its factory settings" All of your media and other data will be erased and the newest version of the iPhone software will be installed.

Is there any way to do a restore without allowing my iPhone's software to be upgraded to the newest version of iPhone software? I have 3.0 and want to keep it because I use my phone to tether. During the restore phase is there a way to cancel the portion of it that attempts to upgrade my software to the latest software?

IPhone :: How To Avoid Rebuilding 4 Every 6 Weeks When "OTHER" Fills Up My Memory

Mar 24, 2012

I am sick of rebuilding my iphone 4 every 6 weeks: setting up as a new phone, installing the apps again, reconfiguring them, rearranging them how I like them. It's a pain in the behind and a very good advertisement for Android at the moment.

Is there a way to stop this from happening? It's to the point now that I call each build as "My iPhone (build YYYYMMDD)". So today's fresh install underway is Build 20120324. The last one was 20120214.The best Apple "support" could offer was to rebuild as a new iPhone each time. So, with "Other" growing in 6 weeks from <1GB to 5.3 today (when it filled my phone's memory), is there any way to stop this?

Info:
iPhone 4, iOS 5.1, Only been an issue since iOS 5.x.

Nokia :: E72 - Avoid Programs From Starting At BOOT Like MSCONFIG?

May 7, 2010

I have a e72, and I'm trying to avoid some programs from loading in boot stage, since I see that when booting the system has 53MB or RAM, but then it's decreasing to 40MB because some programs are opening.

For most of programs, even if I disable "AutoStart" it would still load and close, which is taking RAM!!!I'm trying a way to edit manually the "startup list" as I would do in Windows by entering msconfig...

I've tried to clear the folders C:Private101f875a and C:Private100059C9 which contains both a kind of a startup list, but programs are still starting up!! And I have no idea where is that STARTING LIST?

BB Bold 9700 :: Password Not Accepted - Avoid Factory Reset

Jun 6, 2010

Regarding a problem with password on my 9700 Bold:

I have had a four digit Phone Lock on it for months, always the same, was operating the phone the same as usual one night, and the next morning, it wouldn't accept the Lock Code.

Entered the Password 7/8 times, then thought I had no choice but to let it reset itself, entered in the same Code, and it accepted it.

I didn't want to go through that again, so I went to Password Settings to remove the Password requirement, and it started all over again, not accepting the Same Password with which I had just unlocked the phone!

Fortunately, I have Backed up my phone in case it did get Wiped, but I would have lost some info that had been entered in between Backups, so I hoped I could get this resolved With Out the phone needing a Factory Reset.

The 9700 asked me to enter "blackberry", and I noticed that there was a tendency for the letters to jump to Upper Case quicker than I was accustomed to seeing it do.

As I have been writing this, I remembered that I had changed the Cursor Speed to Fast, so now I'm going to type in the password as quickly as I can, so I can be as certain as possible that it goes in as 'lower case' only, which, because of the characters being immediately changed to ****, I could not detect before.

Problem Solved!

I just breathed a Huge sigh of relief.

The phone has now been set back to the Original Cursor Rate, and the Phone Lock has been removed.

Security is important in case the phone is misplaced, so I set the SIM Card Lock instead, and at least if the Password gets messed up again, I can get a PUK Code from at&t, and unlock the phone that way, without the risk of wiping out all my contact information, calendar dates, and other personal settings.

I hope this information might be helpful to someone else, and I'm looking forward to learning more on this site.

BB Bold :: 9700 Password - Last Try To Enter Correct Code To Avoid Reset

Jan 23, 2012

I own a blackberry 9700 since 2 yrs. I tried for the first time to save my device data on my computer by using the BB Desktop Software. To connect my cell phone and my PC, I had to provide a "password". I typed my device password and then my SIM Card pin #, without any luck. An alert message indicated that this was my last chance to enter the right code, and if I don"t, all my device data would be merely erased.

I also cannot access anymore to my cell phone as long as I don't provide with this "mysterious" password. The point is also that I switched off my device. If turn it on, I will have to type the word "blackberry" first, and then the said password will be requested: at this step is it the SIM card PIN # or necessarily the device password?

I didn't use my cell phone for several weeks since that time, so scared to do a wrong thing. When I just tried to reload the battery, I saw the phone doing like a "reset". Then I took off the battery to stop the process. Did I do something wrong? Is it now too late to get back my data?
