IPhone :: Cannot Auto-Login To Captive Portal WiFi On IOS 5.1.1
May 8, 2012
My office uses a captive portal wifi system for non-work devices. On iOS 5.1, the OS would detect this and would pop up a browser window after connecting to the network for me to enter my login information. In addition, in the detailed wifi settings for the network, I would see two switches for enabling auto-join (connecting to the network) and auto-login (popping up the browser window).
After updating to iOS 5.1.1, on both my iPhone 4S and iPad (3rd gen) it no longer recognizes our network as a captive portal network. The extra settings are gone from the wifi settings, and the only way for me to join the network is to attempt to open a website in Safari and be redirected. Someone with access to a captive portal network can confirm whether or not this issue occurs for them in 5.1.1?
My iPhone 4s won't connect to our university wifi. The IT dept recently included a captive portal whenever we connect to the network. After choosing which network to connect (my university's wifi network) the phone shows up a sliding page (or browser?) named "Log In" shows up a blue button that says "cancel" and it connects to apple.com (as said in the text above it) then redirects to the network's gateway for captive portal (https://1.1.1.1 in my case) then nothing happens, it just shows a blank white screen. What do I do to fix this? It's becoming very annoying especially when i want to check my facebook or email.
We have developed a WIFI marketing unit which stores locallised content on a linux PC and serves it by WIFI.Basically, you connect to the unit by WIFI and surf the information, and there is no internet as such so you cant go onto Google or anything. The unit has a 3G connection simply for us to update content and download usage stats. It works fine with Android and Iphone etc, but seems to struggle with Blackberry's. We can use a WIFI key if needed but would prefer not to.Does anyone know the best way to do this, do we need a WIFI key and if so, is it WEP, WPA, WPA2 etc etc.Or can we remove the WIFI key completely. From what I've seen, it appears that the blackberry favours the mobile connection over WIFI to get to the web, whereas, if I turn off mobile connection, it then connects fiune through the WIFI and shows the content
After updating my 3 gs from 3.0.1 to 4.0 with pwnagetool I have noticed these issues and would appreciate any help: - the wifi auto-login for public Wifis is not working (safari is not started automatically). Manually starting it will rarely open he wifi login page. It either uses 3G or says no Internet connection. - cannot install certificates or settings through safari. It will show a page with the filename and size, but will not install. Nothing is clickable. - the AT&T carrier logo is missing. It reappers after installing ultrasn0w. Toggling US off and it disappears again.
I reinstalled Ios4 twice and the problems are still there. Can it be old carrier profiles or other settings from my backup? I did reset network and removed all old profiles (after install of ios 4).
The auto login function to my tmobile Hotspot has worked for over 1 year without any problem on my iPhone 4. After migration to ios 5 / ios 5.1 the function doesn't work any more and i have to login manually, each time.
I use the same iPhone, telekom phone number, telekom login account id, telekom account password. The manual login works without problem. Nothing else has changed, but the ios upgrade. So it seams to be a bug in the ios upgrade.
I am on my second T-Mobile Galaxy S6. The first unit had a hardware camera defect as well as this wifi bug. I had them replace it and the new unit's camera is good but it has the same wifi issue. Here's what happens:
When I go to an area with an "open" wifi network, a notification pops up on my screen that says "Click here to connect to null." What's strange is I have almost all wifi features off, particularly "Network notification." It should not tell me when any network is available. I also have "Allow Always Scanning" off as well as Wifi Calling disabled (not that relevant). Anyway, once this happens, I have about 2 seconds to turn off wifi or else the phone will reboot. It's a "soft" restart though, meaning it shows the Samsung and T-Mobile logo then is back on again within 5-10 seconds and fully "booted" within 30 seconds. This will keep happening until I turn off wifi.
It's not just any wifi connection that will cause the issue. I think it has to be an "open" connection that uses a portal for authentication (think universities, hotels, airports, etc). Recently, I clicked on one of the notifications (connect ot null) and saw a Cisco portal. I am not sure if it's isolated to Cisco AP's...
1. I Log In to the Nokia Store - download apps - no problem.
2. I Log off the Nokia Store ("remember me" option is OFF)
3. While I am Logged off and click on an app to download - I am automatically logged in?
4. Every time when i am logged off and want to download something, the system must ask me at least for a password to provide, but i don't see that option? - Where is it?And one more thing - when i downloaded a "free" app - it wanted to connect to the Internet.didn't read the message, but I think it was some kind of advertisement thing...obviously, i didn't allow it, and couldn't use the app (the risks are more than obvious)
I am no longer able to access a particular guest wifi hotspot from my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.1 When selecting this wifi service my phone hangs at the wifi login splash screen. This wifi hotspot doesn't require a username and password but does ask you to accept T's and C's before you can connect.I did install the Onavo app at a similar time to this first occuring, but as I thought it may be causing the problem I have now deleted this app.
There's a WiFi network that I often connect to, which has a login page (i.e. I have to enter my username and password on this page, rather than storing it in my phone). As a result it's hard to use because every time I lock my iPhone, I get logged out (due to the lack of persistent WiFi), and then when I unlock it, I have to go back to the login page and re-enter my username and password. I have to do this many times per day.
Is there a way to either force my connection to be persistent (so it doesn't disconnect every time the screen locks) or allow it to auto-enter my username and password on the login screen, so it reconnects automatically? I assume that it would be easier to force the WiFi to be persistent since the login page is custom.
I can't log into imessage. When I restart my iphone 3GS it asks me to enter my imessage account password, as far as i know I haven't got one, unless it is the same as my itunes account which I thought it would be. what I can do to get it to work?
I am trying to connect to a wifi hotspot login, everything works fine till I get to the login page where I just have a blank screen. I have tried the same connection with another brand phone and it works.
My iPhone connects to my car with a USB/jack connector cable - the type that came with the car. Is there a way to have the iPhone (4S) automatically enable Bluetooth ONLY when I'm in the car and I hook up the phone, and to have it automatically disable Bluetooth when I disconnect and leave the car? The idea is that I will ONLY ever need/want Bluetooth active when in the car.
Similarly, is it possible to have the iPhone disable wifi when I'm away from my home wifi environment and enable it again when back home? I'm specifically looking for a solution that is automatic and that requires NO human intervention each time.
unable to login facebook from wifi router. it says your currently on service plan that does not support this application. connect to wifi or contact service provider. i am using Internet and google. same problem with gtalk, twitter, yahoo messenger.
I'm having trouble logging into the Facebook App on my Elm, via Wifi. I was wondering if anybody else was having similar trouble and if they found a solution?
My school has their own wifi, and I would use it on a daily basis, and I need it because its my only form of communication with my mother while Im at school. One day, all of a sudden, it just stopped working, and now it says disconnected. My phone works with my at home wifi, just not the schools. Is it a problem with the network or my phone?
After connecting to the guest WiFi at work, I try to login to the network and a padlock comes up on the screen where I would normally enter my login credentials. I can connect to this network with other phones and my tablet. My Droid turbo is the only device
since i have updated to 5.1.1 on my 4s, the phone does not auto connect to my wi fi when im at home. In fact its doing my head in when i use face time, put phone down and 20 mins later asks me to re connect to wifi for face time i looked into my settings for wifi and can see the " forgot network " option as well has disappered since the update? on my ipad 3, at top says forgot this network heres the settings:
My Moto X would automatically switch over to WIFI from 4Glte when a known connection was closeby (ie when Im at home). Ive only had this G3 a few days.
Is there a setting I can adjust to auto-switch & disable data? For now, i have to go into my notification bar and click over and then confirm even...and of course sometimes I forget to do that and I incure data charges when my 5ghz N signal is standing idly by.
i had simply updated my Neo V (GB 2.3.4) firmware to build number 4.0.2.A.0.62. But now i find that my Wifi gets automatically switched on , even though i prefer it switched off most of the time..this happens at least thrice a day...i keep switchin it off and later i find it switched on again.
I've enabled auto-upload but can't seem to see if this is WiFi only which is what I want. If it uses my phones data-allowence it's going to get used up pretty fast??
Ever since I connect my gopro to my z3, I don't get auto connect to my house wifi. I will need to disable the mobile data traffic and only then i can connected to my house wifi. Previously, when i reach home my z3 will auto connect to my house wifi without me disabling any mobile data traffic on my settings.
Just got my z3 a few week and start using it . Moved from IOS . I am having a few problem with my Z3. I can't find my problem in the forum. My Wifi is doing auto turn off. I checked on Wifi Alaways on . But as soon as i m out of wifi signal it will go off. I always forgot to turn it on as a result of it . Could it be from one of the app i installed ? I m pretty sure nothing wrong with the product as i can use it when the wifi is on.
My X10 intermittently will not auto-connect to available WiFi Network at Home and at Office. I must turn WiFi OFF, then ON in order to connect. Does anyone else have this problem.
1- when i'm using the device by itself, all indicators show that auto-switching is working when wifi is available. ok, bb gurus, i can't afford any surprises on my bill, so...is it really working all by itself, or am i gonna have to play the "disable this, enable that" game to make sure?
2- when i'm tethered, i see my device is being used as a standard dial-up modem, so clearly there's no wifi to be had. but...during tethering, is there any hardware config that allows my device to become a wifi adapter instead of a modem?
3- i think i don't have hotspot capabilities, is that correct?
btw-i absolutely love how easy it is to check service/connection status.EDIT: i just noticed that when i have wifi, the ssid shows up next to the "AT&T" on the main screen, i walked back & forth across the street and watched it change...holy-moly i'm digging this phone!
