While I've sat out for the iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS, I was unable to get my hands on a launch-day iPhone 4 this year due to work scheduling. I was able to sell my own iPhone 3GS and purchase an iPhone 4 on eBay (yeah yeah). Well, its coming tomorrow morning and it just hit me that I have a SIM card and it has a (blank, I know, I did some searching) Micro-SIM card.
Will I be able to just plug it into iTunes and activate on my account? Or will I have to actually call or go to AT&T to discuss this with them?I don't want to accidentally activate the eBay purchaser's account, since the box is still sealed.Sorry if this has been answered before. I've found questions regarding iPhone purchases based on other lines but not one like this.
I don't know much about sim cards. AT&T has told me two stories, and I just wanna see if anyone has experience in this area to help me out.
I just bought a microsim card from an AT&T store. Reason being is I'm doing an upgrade swap. The main line on our family account is using the discount and then handing the iPhone 4 to me. I in turn will be giving them my iPhone 3GS.
Here come the sim card questions. Since an iPhone 3GS has a normal sim card, the main line of our account can simply put their sim card in the 3GS and then it'll work. Correct? Are there additional steps? Do they put the sim card in and then sync with iTunes?
In terms of the iPhone 4 I'll be getting, we're picking it up at an Apple store and they HAVE TO activate it using the main line. So from what AT&T told me, I can't use that sim card hence my buying a blank microsim card.
Now an AT&T rep at the store told me that before I put the new microsim card in the iPhone 4, I have to call an AT&T rep, activate the sim card itself AND THEN place it in the iPhone 4. Another AT&T rep said to just put the blank microsim card in the iPhone 4 and sync it with iTunes and follow instructions to put it on your phone line. I don't wanna mess anything up as I only have 1 microsim card. Can anyone help me with what I should do?
Can anyone explain me how to do this? I tried looking for like the two guides only available on the internet and no luck.I tried to pop it into the iPad and it didn't register. What did I do wrong or how do I ensure that it works? I will try to post a picture later.
i tried searching forums and also googled, but no luck,received my phone today, noticed that there wasnt a sim removal tool in the box. how in the heck to you remove the microsim?i have my old 3gs sim removal tool, but i dont want to damage the phone,i'm not sure how to take it out.
I got my adapter today in the mail and already cut my SIM down ready to go. Works great with the adapter back into my 2G! The real test will be making sure it works in the iPhone 4, but I have no doubt it'll work just great.
Probably a dumb question, but I've never fully understood the purpose of a SIM card with the iPhone when iTunes supposedly syncs all contacts and phonebook entries anyway.But I believe I have my contacts stored on my sim card and I always do regular backups with 'contacts' checked in iTunes, so am I safe when the new phone comes out with the microsim? Will iTunes automatically sync all my contacts back onto the phone from my 3.1.3 firmware?And how do you get your contacts back onto the new SIM? AFAIK you can't manually put contacts onto the SIM through iPhone unless it's jailbroken.
Is it possible to get microsim cards for wireless phone/data service internationally (europe, middle east, asia) currently? I am thinking of getting the iphone 4 but need it to work internationally (non-ATT)
I live in China and have a China iPhone 4S Model MD242CH currently subscribed to China Mobile. I will be going on vacation in Canada and I want to be able to take my iPhine 4S with me and change out my China Mobile MicroSIM card for a Canadian carriers MicroSIM card (Rogers Wireless, Fido Solutions, Bell Mobility, Telus Mobility, ???). It would also be nice if the 3G (or 2.5G GPRS/EDGE) works. What about my iPhone 4S WiFi ??
I have contacted my service provider to unlock my new iPhone 4S, and they said "The iPhone has now been unlocked - Please replace the SIM (use a SIM which has never been used with this iPhone) and connect to iTunes or perform a software restore via iTunes."I then did this, connected my iPhone to Wi-Fi but this message came up: "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a few minutes."When I connected it to iTunes, the message "We are unable to continue with your activation at this time." came up.I tried again many times, but this message still always comes up. when i bought my new iPhone 4S, i set it up, and got to the homescreen without any sim card at all, but i was playing around with it, and "erased all content" and now it wont let me activate without a SIM...i can't even do it through wifi like i thought...is there any way to do activate without getting an AT&T micro sim?

I bought an iphone 4 on craigslist (dumb idea) and ive went everywhere to activate it and they're telling me its from a different country or something and has to be activated with the original sim.I dont want to go to AT&T because they will not help because im on T-Mobile(even though I used to be with them for a little while
I updated my iphone 4 from version 4 to version 5. Now I am not able to activate it. It says the sim card is not compatible. I would like to restore it to the pre-update status. How do I do that?
When i switch on the imessage it tells "you will be charged from the network provider",If i click on "ok" it start saying "waiting for activation" and after sometimes it says "sorry imessage unable to activate,try again" and if i click on "NO" for network provider question it gets activated.And also i cant find my "caller id colomn" at "recieve at"option.
I -tunes made me restore the phone, with out the option of back up. So i did because it went to recovery mode. Then it said your attempting to activate a phone that has no sim card. So i went to ATT and bought one. They couldn't get it to activate and said try from your pc in i-tunes or go see Apple. i ordered a iphone 4 s 16 GB via apple store. recieved delivery today. the phone is not configuring and refuses to recognise the micro sim card. what can i do?
I'm having trouble activating my phone after updating & restoring it.
It was acidently updated to 5.1 and then I had no option but to restore it now its says 'could not activate'.
It was a phone from the UK which was unlocked and now i'm trying to use it on a zimbabwe network.
What do I do if i'm not able to find out the original carrier? And how can I just activate it in the first place (before considering getting it unlocked in any way)
I'm having problems with my iPhone 3Gs. I had it jailbreaked with Redsn0w, then I restored it to the most update iOS through the newest iTunes. I can't get past the activation menu at all. I tried restoring in DFU mode and still no luck, even with using other SIM cards. I tried downgrading to iOS 5.0 and I get "error 60000ms giving up" on the iPhone screen and I can't edit hosts files at all. I'm using Windows Vista too.
My phone was stolen and i recently got it back and took it to the at&t store and got the phone number and sim changed back over but it keeps saying that the iphone is disabled, and to connect to itunes. When I connect to itunes, it says type in the password. But on the phone, the only thing i can do is make emergency calls. How do i get the disabling off?
I received a 4S 16GB black as a gift from my cousin. He bought the Iphone from France with Bouygues operator. But I want to use it in Turkey.I dont know if it is simlocked or not. But when I try to activate it with Turkish GSM card, it is not accepted but signal bar and 3G is working. By the way, I could activate it by Boygues sim card then inserted the Turkish GSM oper. card (Turkcell ) , the name of Turkcell apprared in options >about > operator. I just bought an iPhone 4S UNLOCKED on March 2012 in Austin, TX.
I bring it to Brazil, but when I try to use my carrier's SIM card the iPhone locks the system saying "Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier my be used to activate iPhone. insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported carrier". When I try to use AT&Ts SIM card (that came with the iPhone but doesnt work here in Brazil) the iPhone unlocks the system. I just want my unlocked iPhone....
My Cousin sent me an iphone 4s from england network 3 . now he said that he have requested to Unlock Iphone Through IMEI . The managment said ok we will unlock in 48 hours and we'ill send u a confirmtn msg but they didnt . then he called them again and they said we want 48 more hours and even after that no msg was sent to my cousin. i m living in oman(middle east) . now i want to know that the iphone will be unlocked when i will insert sim and do the activation step and then they will send that msg for what im waiting or i should wait for the msg then iphone will b unlocked ? ?
iphone 4s network is searching and the guy at Boost Mobile reset it and now it wont activate again? Nothing was wrong with it except the network searching now I dont know what to do because it wont activate or nothing what should I do??
