IPhone :: ITunes Still Transfer Contacts To MicroSIM?
Jun 17, 2010
Probably a dumb question, but I've never fully understood the purpose of a SIM card with the iPhone when iTunes supposedly syncs all contacts and phonebook entries anyway. But I believe I have my contacts stored on my sim card and I always do regular backups with 'contacts' checked in iTunes, so am I safe when the new phone comes out with the microsim? Will iTunes automatically sync all my contacts back onto the phone from my 3.1.3 firmware? And how do you get your contacts back onto the new SIM? AFAIK you can't manually put contacts onto the SIM through iPhone unless it's jailbroken.
I don't know much about sim cards. AT&T has told me two stories, and I just wanna see if anyone has experience in this area to help me out.
I just bought a microsim card from an AT&T store. Reason being is I'm doing an upgrade swap. The main line on our family account is using the discount and then handing the iPhone 4 to me. I in turn will be giving them my iPhone 3GS.
Here come the sim card questions. Since an iPhone 3GS has a normal sim card, the main line of our account can simply put their sim card in the 3GS and then it'll work. Correct? Are there additional steps? Do they put the sim card in and then sync with iTunes?
In terms of the iPhone 4 I'll be getting, we're picking it up at an Apple store and they HAVE TO activate it using the main line. So from what AT&T told me, I can't use that sim card hence my buying a blank microsim card.
Now an AT&T rep at the store told me that before I put the new microsim card in the iPhone 4, I have to call an AT&T rep, activate the sim card itself AND THEN place it in the iPhone 4. Another AT&T rep said to just put the blank microsim card in the iPhone 4 and sync it with iTunes and follow instructions to put it on your phone line. I don't wanna mess anything up as I only have 1 microsim card. Can anyone help me with what I should do?
Can anyone explain me how to do this? I tried looking for like the two guides only available on the internet and no luck.I tried to pop it into the iPad and it didn't register. What did I do wrong or how do I ensure that it works? I will try to post a picture later.
i tried searching forums and also googled, but no luck, received my phone today, noticed that there wasnt a sim removal tool in the box. how in the heck to you remove the microsim?i have my old 3gs sim removal tool, but i dont want to damage the phone,i'm not sure how to take it out.
While I've sat out for the iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS, I was unable to get my hands on a launch-day iPhone 4 this year due to work scheduling. I was able to sell my own iPhone 3GS and purchase an iPhone 4 on eBay (yeah yeah). Well, its coming tomorrow morning and it just hit me that I have a SIM card and it has a (blank, I know, I did some searching) Micro-SIM card.
Will I be able to just plug it into iTunes and activate on my account? Or will I have to actually call or go to AT&T to discuss this with them?I don't want to accidentally activate the eBay purchaser's account, since the box is still sealed.Sorry if this has been answered before. I've found questions regarding iPhone purchases based on other lines but not one like this.
I got my adapter today in the mail and already cut my SIM down ready to go. Works great with the adapter back into my 2G! The real test will be making sure it works in the iPhone 4, but I have no doubt it'll work just great.
Is it possible to get microsim cards for wireless phone/data service internationally (europe, middle east, asia) currently? I am thinking of getting the iphone 4 but need it to work internationally (non-ATT)
When I try to sync my iPhone (via USB), I get: > iiTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone "xxxx's iPhone" because contacts have been disabled on the iPhone. How do I fix? I have an iPhone 3Gs running iOS 5.1.1, Lion 10.7.4 running iTunes 10.6.3
I'm trying to sync my iPhone contacts with windows contacts using iTunes. I keep getting the message "iTunes could not sync contacts with iPhone because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone." Internet connection is on. They used to sync before and one day they just stopped syncing.
im upgrading to an iPhone 4 from an iPhone 3G and this will be the first time that ill be upgrading a phone on AT&T.when i get my iPhone 4 in the mail and plug it into iTunes, will everything automatically transfer over to the iPhone 4 (contacts, music, pics, apps, videos, etc.?)
I received my iPhone last week and it came unlocked/jailbroken with TomTom V 1.0. I was really stoked since my other GPS unit was ripped off. Anyway later on in the evening I synced up the iPhone with iTunes and transferred over all my contacts, apps, etc. Everything appeared to transfer over. However when I looked in my Applications section in iTunes, I saw no TomTom. I at first thought that iTunes had deleted it but after looking at my iPhone, the icon was still there and the app worked just fine.
I see that there is a v 1.2 with nice improvements and I am getting no indicator of an update. Anyone know whats up. This is a bit annoying.
My wife and I both have iTunes accounts.I have been syncing my iPhone 3gs in iTunes using my account on my computer.I also had purchased a few apps from the iTunes Store using my account on my computer. She is syncing her iPad 2 in iTunes using her account on her computer.I recently purchased an android phone and gave my iPhone 3gs to my wife.Is there a way for her to sync the iPhone 3gs on her computer using her iTunes account on which she is also syncing her iPad2?Can she sync the apps on the 3gs that I purchased on my iTunes account on my computer to her iTunes account on her computer? How?
How do I transfer music from Itunes to my Iphone, without syncing the Itunes to the iphone? I recently bought a new CPU, so only the purchased music shows up on the Itunes.
So I bought a used Iphone and it has kick *** music. So I want to transfer music from that Iphone and add it to my already existing Itunes without losing any of those songs.
I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone 4S. The iPhone will only accept music transfers from the original iTunes PC. I have come to understand that an iPhone can have only one "daddy" iTunes PC, but have not been able to find out how to change the "daddy". I have done a backup of the iPhone, and a "Restore to Original Settings". Then I restored the content using the new iTunes PC. My Apps and contacts, etc. are back on the iPhone, but it still won't accept music from the new iTunes PC.
After having to re-boot my PC, I unfortunately lost some of the music on my iTunes account. The songs are still able to be played on my iPhone but in the iTunes account, to the left of the tick box there is an exclamation mark, and when I click on the song to play it, a box comes up telling me that "the song can not be used because the original file could not be found." Is there any way of me being able to get the songs from my iPhone back onto my iTunes account?
I have tried transfering songs that we have put in itunes to icloud to go onto my iphone, The ones that I didn't purchase through itunes comes up with a cloud with a line through it. I have read previous notes and checked that it is set to aac encoder but it comes up with an error stating that it couldn't be found.
i am trying to transfer ringtones that i download from an app to itune but i download itune on my pc and connected with iphone but dont know what to do next
I am trying to transfer music from my Iphone to Itunes. I tunes has lost some tracks but the tracks still exist on my phone and I would like to pout them back into itunes (these were not purchased via the iphone but originally put onto itunes from CD.
