Apr 17, 2012I followed the unlocked instruction from AT&T to restore my 3GS iPhone from factory settings. After completing restoring, follow the steps to set up the phone and stuck at activation screen. I inserted AT&T SIM card and connected to iTune but still failed to activate with following error message on iTune: "There is no SIM card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate. Please disconnect and insert a SIM card in the iPhone." I have retry several times (including disconnect and reinsert the sim) but no luck.

Jul 6, 2010The two iPhone 4s I ordered will be here tomorrow to be activated on a family plan for me and my brother. Email from AT&T with activation instructions mention connecting to iTunes. If they are activated on one iTunes account, can one be transferred to a different iTunes account later? Reason I'm asking is because I'm a telecommuter so will be home and can take care of it all tomorrow. My brother doesn't get home from work until 7:30 pm so wondering if I should wait to let him activate his own phone or not. He has his own computer....I need to ask him if he has an iTunes account.
Does it matter one way or the other? If we keep both on one iTunes account, how do apps work? Do they install on just one phone or will they install on both? Right now I have a bunch of free apps selected but I image one or the other of us will want to buy something eventually.

Jun 21, 2010My iPhone 4 shipped, yay! This is my first iPhone upgrade and have never needed to restore the backup from my 3g to a new phone. So my question is. I have my new IP4 shipping to my house but I sync with iTunes on my work computer.
Can I activate my new IP4 on iTunes on my home PC in the evening when I get home to my shiny new phone and then restore all my settings, data and apps from my work PC iTunes the next morning at work? Or do I need to just wait until I get to work to activate the new phone?

May 16, 2012I called AT&T about 15 days to request an unlock for my iPhone. Yesterday I got the confirmation email explainig that the IMEI number was unlocked and that I should follow this steps to unlock it:
To complete the unlock, simply:
1. Open iTunes on your Mac or PC and verify that you have internet connectivity.
2. Connect your iPhone using the dock connector to USB cable that came with your iPhone.
3. Backup and restore your iPhone using iTunes . [url]...
4. After restoring, your iPhone will be unlocked.
Well I have done that. And the iPhone won't activate. I have inserted my sim card from Argentina (TELECOM PERSONAL is the company) but when I connect to iTunes it gives me this message:
Your request couldn't be processed. We are sorry, but there was an error processing your request. Please try again later. I have, too, tried to do it through the iPhone, in the activation screen (where it is stuck, by the way) but the same, error message.

Jun 5, 2012I'm having problems with my iPhone 3Gs. I had it jailbreaked with Redsn0w, then I restored it to the most update iOS through the newest iTunes. I can't get past the activation menu at all. I tried restoring in DFU mode and still no luck, even with using other SIM cards. I tried downgrading to iOS 5.0 and I get "error 60000ms giving up" on the iPhone screen and I can't edit hosts files at all. I'm using Windows Vista too.

I was able to sell my own iPhone 3GS and purchase an iPhone 4 on eBay (yeah yeah). Well, its coming tomorrow morning and it just hit me that I have a SIM card and it has a (blank, I know, I did some searching) Micro-SIM card.
Will I be able to just plug it into iTunes and activate on my account? Or will I have to actually call or go to AT&T to discuss this with them?I don't want to accidentally activate the eBay purchaser's account, since the box is still sealed.Sorry if this has been answered before. I bring it to Brazil, but when I try to use my carrier's SIM card the iPhone locks the system saying "Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier my be used to activate iPhone. insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported carrier". When I try to use AT&Ts SIM card (that came with the iPhone but doesnt work here in Brazil) the iPhone unlocks the system. I just want my unlocked iPhone....
