IPhone :: 4S Bluetooth Stopped Connecting To Prius, Will Not Reconnect
Jun 23, 2012
iPhone 4S bluetooth connection to my Prius was perfect until today. Not only will the iphone reconnect but the pop-up for entering the car password does not display. I noticed that other messages mention this poltergeist problem. Is this glitch associated with an iPhone software update?

so I've had these Bluetooth issues since I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5. I've searched and searched and found nothing, so finally I decided to post my story here. First of all I'd like to point out: I've tried everything! ..but more on this below. I have a Bluetooth capable car stereo, the Sony BT2600, in my car. It works like a charm and I've been using it for listening to music via A2DP (Bluetooth Stereo Audio) since I updated my HTC Prophet to Windows Mobile 6 back in 2008. Since 2009 I've been using it with an iPhone 3G, then a 3GS, and finally with my iPhone 4, which I've owned since october 2010.Calling worked, listening to music worked, and since iOS 3, I think, AVRCP has been working fine, too.
Now to the things that worked until before the iOS 5 update:When I got into my car, turned on the ignition, the car stereo automatically tries to connect to the last connected device, so unless BT was disabled on the iPhone, it connected without problems and I could start music playback by pressing the Play/Pause button on the unit, without having to pull the iPhone out of my pocket. When I got out of my car, turned the ignition, and thus, the car stereo, off, the iPhone would of course disconnect. Here's where it becomes interesting: When I would go for another drive in my car, the head unit would reconnect to the iPhone, just as in the first point of this list.Same when starting the car's engine, which cuts the power to the head unit for one second. It would automatically reconnect to the phone and I could press the Play/Pause button twice to resume playback.Furthermore, when Repeat was not enabled on the iPhone's iPod application and the current album / playlist / podcast would end, the Bluetooth connection would remain active, which was good, because I would still be able to receive calls using the hands-free functionality of the Sony head unit, and I could restart playback by pressing the Play/Pause button on the latter. My Apple aluminum Wireless Keyboard would also connect flawlessly whenever BT was enabled on the iPhone. Also the Bluetooth tethering feature would work fine - I could just connect to it via my MacBook's Bluetooth menu, without having to do anything with the iPhone.
Since I updated to iOS 5,my car stereo doesn't connect to the iPhone unless it's been less than a minute that I'd enabled Bluetooth on the iPhone.same with the keyboard. When music playback stops (at the end of an album/playlist/podcast, with Repeat disabled), the whole Bluetooth connection is instantly lost, and can't be regained until I disable and re-enable Bluetooth on the iPhone. Which means that I can't take calls in my car after listening to an album or podcast or playlist when I forget to enable Repeat.Whenever I have to re-start my car's engine, the connection is, in more than half of the cases, lost until disabling and re-enabling BT on the iPhone.Same with tethering.
What I've tried so far:deleted all BT devices from the iPhone's list, re-paired - nothingrebooted, many, many times - nothingrestored to iOS 5.0.1 - nothinghit "Reset Network Preferences" - nothing, the BT devices even stay in the listhit "Delete All Settings" on the iPhone - nothing, BT device list still the samerestored to 5.0.1 again - nothingrestored to iOS 5.1 - nothingrestored to iOS 5.1 from DFU mode, setting up the iPhone "as new iPhone". Big step, PITA, but still - nothing. At least this has cleared the BT device list. But the issues remain.
I just got an iPhone 4s and I did manage to get my Platronics 975 headset paired without too much trouble but there's one thing I can't figure out. On my old LG phone there was an option to drop the connection (without forgetting it) to your Bluetooth device when you weren't using it and then reconnect when you wanted to use it. How do you do this on the iPhone 4s?
I've seen a lot of people with different Bluetooth issues but not much about what's happening to me. I assume Bluetooth is just bad on this phone. use Bluetooth headphones while I'm at work. I have to pause a lot of times obviously. Around 90% of the time I have to use my phone to continue playing what I was listening to.
Pressing play with the button on the headphones does nothing. Sometimes if it's around a minute or two later the headphones button will work. If it's longer it never works. Is this happening to other people. I am unrooted. The only change is unlocked bootloader. I am also still on MDA89D. My phone doesn't seem to want to update.
I have upgraded by Torch (AT&T) to release 6.0.0.2342. Since the upgrade I have been unable to reconnect my Bluetooth handsfree kit (Plantronics Explorer 240 headset). When I reboot the phone I can connect the bluetooth device but when I turn the bluetooth device off, the Torch will not reconnect to the device when I trun it back on unless I reboot the Torch. Also when the bluetooth device has been turned off the Torch still shows it as being connected flashing blue LED and on connection screen. When I try turn bluetooth off or disable it in the Blackberry it does not change state without a reboot (but always shows as OFF and will not return to ON or Enabled). I have tried both soft reboots (alt-shift-delete) and battery pulls. When bluetooth is locked up voice dialing app no longer works as well.
I have paired my Bionic with our courdless phone - Panasonic KX-TG6581 - The cordless phone with bluetooth link works like a headphone device, and calls can be answered on the cordless phone while at home.
My problem is that the Bionic does not reconnect to the phone after a Bionic power cycle - I have to go back to the bluetooth device on the Bionic and hit connect.
My Motorola Droid worked perfectly with this device
I have a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid with Micorsoft Sync. I had a Droid X and upgraded to the Bionic. When getting in the car, the DX always auto-connected to the phone (headset) profile and also to the A2DP profile, although sometimes the Sync screen displayed a "Connection failed" message before it always actually did connect. Previously my BB Storm 2 had no problems connecting.
When I turn the car on, the Bionic connects fine to the headset profile but fails to auto-connect to the A2DP profile. I get the same "Connection failed" message as with the DX but it doesn't subsequently connect and I have to connect it manually. This is very troubling to me as I almost exclusively use A2DP for listening to music and podcasts in my car.[url]...
Just got the Elite Flip Thursday night (it's now Saturday morning), paired it with Moto Droid Razr Maxx (OTA .181), and yes, I am using the latest MotoSpeak. I noticed that every time I used the EF for a telephone call, once the call was disconnected, usually but not exclusively by the other party hanging up, the Elite Flip would disconnect from the phone and then reconnect. Is this normal? Is there a way to keep the Elite Flip from doing this?
My 4s has stopped connecting to wifi and won't let me select a network or search for a network, it also won't let me switch on the bluetooth. I have done a full restore and also reset network setting
I have had my iphone 4s since the end of March with no problems, yet withing the last week or so it doesn't seem to be able to access the wifi properly, even when it shows me having full wifi signal. I noticed the problem first on facebook but just thought it was a fault with facebook, then i found that i was having connection problems in safari, app store, spotify etc. My laptop still connects fine so i dont think its a problem with the hub. I have tried resetting the network settings, checked for updates, restarted the phone but nothing seems to be working. the connection occasionally works for a couple of minutes then it just goes again.
It was conecting fine at home. at work I always had the 3g symbol as work will not share their wifi. Downloaded a ring tone today through the app store then went out. Came home and noticed when using the internet it was 3G and not my wifi - kept telling me unable to connect, Asked it to forget this network then tried to rejoin just keeps saying unable to connect? I'm stuck in the UK with my tech savvy son in Aus - hence he bought me the phone. My internet at home is fine,
Right in the middle to the day on Sept. 9 my iPhone 5 started getting "Cannot Get Mail" messages when trying to connect to my work mail server. This account has been running fine for the last year. However iCloud mail works and the exact same settings on my iPad and desktop are working without a glitch. I have tried closing, soft rebooting, powering off etc.Â
Suddenly, my iphone 4S has stopped connecting to wi-fi.Â
Here's the problem:when I go to Settings, under "Wi-Fi", I see "Not Connected"when I tap "Wi-Fi", I don't see any networks listed at allÂ
Here's what I've tried to resolve the problemchecked to see that the wireless networks (both work and home) are actually working, by connecting to them using my laptopturned off wi-fi and then turned it back onswitched to airplane mode and then back offrest phone by pressing and holding both buttonsreset network settings by going to Settings--General--Reset--Reset Network Settings.Nothing has worked.
I'm running iOS5.1 on my iPhone 4. about 10 days ago (before I got the iOS update), my iPhone stopped connecting to my home network. It's able to detect it and the signal is strong but it won't connect. I'm able to connect to Wifi everywhere else (at the library, my friend's house..etc). I've tried rebooting a couple of times, renewing the lease, reseting network settings, forgetting the network and reconnecting to it. Nothing seems to work so far! I've also tired restarting my router..
So I've had my iPhone for probably about 4 months, and up until about 2 or 3 weeks ago, WiFi was working fine on it. Then, one day, I left home and came back a few hours later, and I couldn't connect to the home network. I can still see the network, and it comes up with the signal strength and everything seems normal, but then I go to connect and a message pops up saying "Unable to join network [Home]".
There're 9 other devices on our router, which are an iPhone 4, an iPhone 3GS, an iPod touch, an Apple TV, a windows laptop, an iMac, a MacBook, an ipad, and a PS3.
The Bluetooth of my bold 9780 stop connecting to other Bluetooth device and other device can not see my Bluetooth too.Have tried all possible means, yet is not working.
I bought this iphone 5 six months ago and have a pay as you go plan with Kolbi I.C.E (a local provider.) Everything worked fine, until last week I was talking on my phone all morning, and then I shut it off to charge it and when I turned it back on I couldn't connect to the cellular network. Â
Since then, I have tried LITERALLY everything I can find on the internet to make it work again: toggling airplane mode, restart, refresh network settings, restore to factory, taking out the sim card and putting it back in again, EVERYTHING. And not for one single second have I been able to access the cellular network again. Â
I tried putting my simcard in my friend's identical iphone 5 and it worked just fine, leading me to believe the problem is with my iphone in particular-- but why would it just STOP connecting all of a sudden, for no reason???Â
3. Doing the home button reset thing does not work
4. Obviously I can't do the sleep + home button reset.
5. It's been sitting in rice even though I didn't get it wet, maybe someone did.
6. Has been dropped, but that was about 6 months ago, back is shattered but I have a case.
7. Charging doesn't work.
8. Thought it might have done the "black screen" thing where it has to die until I can charge it, but flicking the ringer button doesn't make the phone vibrate like it's set to.
My new phone is correctly paired with the blurtooth in my 2011 Subaru Forester and connected and worked, but does NOT auto-connect when I restart the car, I have to go into bluetooth settings on my phone, and tap the device "Car_Media" to make a connection. My previous phone worked correctly and auto-connected when I started the car.. I've fully deleted all devices and pairings from the car and the phone and re-paired the new phone several times. NG. How do I get the Atrix to auto-connect?
I have an iPhone 4s on Vodafone, upgraded to latest software update and phone will not connect by bluetooth to my Bose sound dock 10 (doesn't even see it) nor will it see my new iMac. I have reset my phone to see if that works - but nothing.
connecting Bluetooth to my computer for the first time......i have no instructions and for some reason, my adobe reader isn't working and all the manuals are in pdf?
