Huawei Nexus 6P :: Stuck At Boot Animation
Jan 18, 2016
I recently got my 6P and immediately proceeded to unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP to start loading custom roms. I decided to start use Pure Nexus with it's accompanying gapps package but when I go to reboot the device, I am stuck at the circles boot animation.
I decide to try CM13 nightlies and the same problem occurs. After searching online for some time, I realize I needed to flash a SuperSU file from recovery that flashes a custom boot.img. I flash Version 2.66 and restart the device. After 5+ minutes on the boot screen, I decided I am stuck still. What do I need to do, I am unable to boot the device.

Then i installed Pure Nexus rom and it was working fine. Then i installed Elemental X kernal, didn't change anything from stock options other than double tap 2 wake, and it would stay forever in the boot animation. Not a boot loop, but the animation with the circles.
So i figured, i had a TWRP backup from before i rooted and all that and restored from that, still same never ending boot animation
EDIT::: I unchecked selinux enforcing but i still get the same issue. I noticed when trying to restore from recovery it would reboot when trying to flash the system, and that it would not be able to flash the system while trying to install pure nexus rom.

So recently for some reason my Nexus 5 gets stuck on the booting animation. I think it was updating to 6.0.1 or something but I'm not sure, because I just woke up one day and the phone wouldn't boot, and when it finally did it just gets stuck on the boot animation. I've tried to flash stock images and etc but I need an unlocked boot loader and for some reason if the phone doesn't boot completely after unlocking the bootloader, then it gets re-locked. So now my last option is to use the stock recovery to wipe data or something but when I go to the screen with the dead android guy, no combination of buttons seem to make the recovery options show up.

My device:
LG Nexus 5 - Lollipop 5.1.1 LMY48B
Unlocked bootloader;
Rooted;
ClockWorkmod 6.0.4.5 (not flashed - just boot on image when used);
I've made a nandroid backup with cwm. Backed Up the files to notebook via adb pull. Then, wiped factory reset (in cwm) and flashed Developer Preview of android M. Boot on android M works like a charm. Then, made an android M nandroid backup with cwm. Backed up these files to notebook via adb pull.
Then, bring back the files of first nandroid backup to device, via adb push. Pushed the correct folder to /data/media/clockworkmod/backup.
Folder content /data/media/clockworkmod/backup/1970-01-01.07.19.35boot.img

-Boot in cwm, made a wipe factory reset (in cwm).
-Flashed again 5.1.1 image files (boot, radio, bootloader, system and cache).
-Reboot in cwm.
-Now, restore nandroid backup (the 5.1.1 one).
Everything looks good, and no error messages by now. But when reboot, I've got a stuck on logo animation. It took a half hour or more, and nothing. There’s nothing to do about it.
I tried found a solution, but the main thing I've heard is to flash 5.1.1 again. I did it, and works. I can bring back to a brand new installation. But I can't use anymore my nandroid backup.

A friend asked me to look at his Nexus 5. It seemed as though his son was trying to flash a custom rom but somewhere along the way things went wrong and it got stuck on the boot animation.
I tried resetting it to factory using this thread. Followed method 2 and finished it up with "Wipe data/factory data" reset. I did not however relock the boot loader.
I used the factory image 6.0.1 (MMB29S).
Everything went well, no errors, but even after doing all that the phone is still stuck on the boot animation. I tried redoing the "Wipe data/factory data" reset, but the phone is still stuck on boot animation. I left for around 20 minutes with no change.
All the other threads I have read seem to indicate doing the "wipe data/factory data" reset should correct this issue but it hasn't seemed to work.

So I updated to Marshmallow from Lollipop via fastboot on my Mac. Upon installing SuperSU and rebooting, I got stuck on the boot animation. Cache wipe and factory reset - still no go, and after the factory reset, I lost TWRP. I tried installing it again only to receive a black screen when rebooting into recovery mode. Tried another factory reset and reinstalled Marshmallow - same issue. I have contacted Google and there's nothing they can do.

I've been running Android M preview (3?) for a while on my Nexus 6.2 months ago my USB-connector of the phone broke and only because I also have a wireless charger I can continue to use my phone.Just now I tried a headphone and noticed that viper4android wasn't working, which it did a while ago.I still had the file viper_aio_fixes.zip in my download folder I used to get it going a long time ago. [URL]..
I booted into recovery, flashed that zip and did a reboot. Now it is stuck at the black screen with only the text "Google" and a padlock.I am able to boot into fastboot where I can go in the several modes including recovery mode (Team Win Recovery Project v2.8.5.0). I don't have any possibility to connect it to my computer using an USB. The device does still have warranty, but I can't miss my phone.

So I flashed the latest firmware, after being unlocked, then rent back to bootloader, flashed recovery, went to recovery and installed file. Then restarted...now stuck in boot loop. It booted before I went to flash recovery in the new firmware just fine.
Do you need to flash something else when you flash recovery?
it says device is corrupt when I restart, but I was under the impression that screen comes up when bootloader is unlocked, so not sure if it means anything...

My N5 decided suddenly the other day to stop working. I held it, it turned off and on and then the boot animation just continued. I have googled and tried everything I can but it seems to go wrong someplace every time. I tried to wipe it from recovery mode but then it gave this as "error message".

Trying to port a custom Xperia Z1 Rom to Nexus 5.This custom Rom has all features from Xperia Z5.
Edit : Advanced, see logcat
Edit 2 : fixed mediadrm fatal crash. Now, i need to fix SDCARD
Edit 3 : seems i need to fix sound
Edit 4 : Booting, as logcat says.
The problem is : Google Logo stays displayed. Bootanimation doesnt displays and so, it seems it prevents phone from displaying Setup Wizard, and Android UI. Maybe the problem is "libsecureui.so" dlopen failed.

I am running the Purity Rom on my Nexus 5. Now I wanted to change my boot animation. I wanted to know if Purity allows me to change the boot animation and what is the quickest and safest way to do this. And one last question is changing the boot animation risky?

Like others, I tried the software update, and then my phone constantly got stuck at the four little circles at start up. I followed some instructions I found on AndroidPit:
1. From a powered off state, press the Power button to start your Nexus 5. When you see the Google logo press and hold the Volume Down key and release when the device vibrates.
2. Use the volume keys to highlight Recovery Menu and press the Power button to select. This will bring you to a screen with an Android on its back.
3. Hold the Volume Up key for 5 secs then release and a new menu will appear.
4. First off, you can use the volume keys to select Wipe Cache Partition. This will cause your phone to restart. once this is done, re-do the previous steps to get back to the same screen (the one that Wipe Cache Partition was on).
5. Highlight Wipe Data/Factory Reset and select using the Power key. Scroll down to Yes, Delete All Data and press the Power button again to select.
6. Your Nexus 5 will now wipe your data and reformat.
7. On the next screen hit the Power button to select Reboot System Now.
It has been 40 minutes now and it's stuck on 'Formatting /data'. Is this normal?
I've only had this phone for a couple of months and it was functioning perfectly until now I haven't rooted it or anything.

Got my 128 gb 6p last Tuesday, unlocked, decrypted, flashed Pure Nexus, joy no problems. This morning I decided to try God kernel, flashed booted up but I found out the camera stopped working. So restore a backup, no boot, just stays on the Google boot animation. Full wipe, reflash Pure Nexus, still won't boot, stayed on the animation an hour. So I guess I try a factory image next.

I've read that some people like to install twrp, root, etc. and then re lock the bootloader. Is there any benefits to doing that? And is there a way to unlock/lock without wiping every time you unlock again?

Okay, so there is no screen protector or anything. Not rooted or unlocked or tampered in any way. I've had the phone for 26 hours and then the following happened:
EDIT: YouTube video added [URL] ..
I pulled the phone out of my pocket to unlock it. I see the lock screen and put in my pin (yes, I see the actual screen and stuff on it. Let me make that clear.) after I enter my pin successfully the screen locks itself. I contacted Google support and they said to factory reset it. I did the full factory data reset in the recovery mode (again, the screen works. I can see everything to do a FDR and I can see the boot animation) and it starts to boot up. Once I see the "welcome" screen it instantly locks itself.
I can hear the audible "latch" locking sound that it makes when you press the power button. I know the buttons are not malfunctioning because they work perfectly fine in bootloader / recovery mode to scroll up and down and select things. I've tried multiple things but nothing seems to work. The problem here is that I want to try and do a factory image but my computer will NOT recognize my Nexus 6P when in recovery mode / bootloader mode. I have all the drivers installed but since I can't access the OS and enable OEM UNLOCKING there is no way to factory flash a factory image is there? Again, I can NOT access the OS at all whatsoever.

So I'm on my 2nd day of owning my 6P, and it rebooted without prompting at some point when it was in my pocket. After entering my PIN it just sits there on the animated Google logo, getting pretty hot but never making it past the boot screen.
I'm planning on trying a factory reset and seeing if it happens again since I was going to unlock the bootloader anyway, but I fear I've hit a hardware issue.

I don't like the eye popping colors of amoled screen on my 6P. sRGB enabled in developer options makes it look better in my eyes as a amatuer pornographer. However, it doesn't stick and needs to be re-enable on each boot.

I friend's Nexus 6P ran out of battery yesterday. Upon charging, the phone refused to start and it has gone into a bootloop (endless startup animation). I don't have the phone in hand yet (will get it tonight), but I had my friend get into the bootloader and try to flash the factory images using the included batch file. This did not work because he did not have the OEM unlock option enabled in developer options.
I had him try "Fast boot Format User data", which also didn't work as the phone is locked. Is there anything that can be done to fix it? Or a way to unlock without the OEM unlock option enabled?

This morning while at work i decided to try another ROM while I had some time. I have been running VRtoxin with no issues as of this morning. I downloaded the latest pure nexus and proceeded to advance wipe everything but storage. I flashed the rom and dynamic gapps. The phone booted up and seemed to be fine until i tried to open a few of the apps i use on a regular basis. When i went to open facebook, hangouts, google plus and some others i would get a notification that unfortunately the app was stopped. I tried rebooting and reinstalling pure nexus and kept getting the same messages. I finally got sick of it and decided to flash my back up i made this morning of VRtoxin. That's when the boot loops started. I have since then mounted system, advance wiped all but storage and tried to flash both VR and pure nexus. Neither will get past boot loop. I have waited 15+ minutes for each.

The Volume Down button is jammed (the phone fell and landed on its edge slightly crushing the frame where the volume down is). Curiously the Volume Up button still increased the volume.
After turning the phone off the problem came when turning on the phone as it now only boots into the bootloader as a result of the jammed Volume Down button. Once in bootloader mode, the volume up/down buttons do not change the reboot options - it appears the stuck Volume Down button is causing this.
The way to fix this is to take the phone apart (as per the Youtube clips) and physically straighten the frame. This is no easy task, so the question: is there a way around this so that the phone can boot? It's rooted and fastboot commands work. (I installed TWRP but can only boot to recovery with adb).

Two days after owning this phone I had the dreaded bent metal issue near the volume button. I flashed pure nexus on it though and I'm trying to get it back to stock before I take it back into bestbuy to get a new one. My stock nandroid backup fully flashes but it won't boot. All I see is the google logo.
I know I can fb flash the stock, but that's so much more of a process. Plus, it doesn't make sense to me that it wouldn't work...

I had installed a layers theme on my rooted nexus 6p running pure nexus rom. After i rebooted the phone it went into bootloop.
So i got into twrp recovery and factory reset the phone . Flashed the necessary files but it still continued to bootloop. I formatted the internal storage and flashed Chroma Rom but the issue persists.

I now have my nexus 5 over 8 Months and everything worked perfectly but since yesterday it stuck at the google logo. I don't mean the Boot animation, I mean the first logo which shows up after booting. After 3 seconds it shuts down and i get the same. Before this happened I just recently flashed PA Rom (4.5,3) and then afterwards the newest franco kernel by the Updater App.
First everything has worked very well, but then some strange things happened to my nexus. So it just has switched the Date and Time to 1970, Google now said it isn't supported in my country (even it is), whats app needed reauthentification and also didn't automatically recognized my county, my battery has dropped while charging from 12% to 39% within a minute and then the random reboots appeared. after the 4th one I suddenly landed at the point where I am now. I also tried lots of things like going into bootloader/ recovery and flashing an old factory Image but every time I try to it kicks me to the Google logo.

So I just followed this tutorial : [URL] .....
I used the second way, because the first one told me that 'system.img' was missing (not the only one), whatever; second method was good I did all it was asked but I didn't saw the one command out of the box "fastboot flash cache C:androidimagecache.img", I mean, I did all the command in the 'Code' box but the one 'fastboot flash cache C:androidimagecache.img' was out and I miss it.
So next I followed the step, select "Recovery" using the volume buttons, press Power Button + Volume UP when the android is dead with triangle, it's okay, but now the phone just rebooted and there were no 'Select "Wipe data/factory data reset' as tutorial said there will be.
And now I'm stuck in the boot animation since around 15 minutes I tried to update to 6.0.0 and it's just stuck in the animation.
