Google Nexus 5 :: Why Do MMS Messages Take Days To Receive
Jun 9, 2015
My plan is with H2O and it takes anywhere from 1-7 days to receive group MMS messages. I use chomp for sms/mms. Most of my friends have iPhone's so I wonder if it has anything to do with iMessage?
Maybe there's a way to get MMS messages to work better through wifi? What's App group texts are still instantaneous.
(On a perhaps unrelated note, tower reception comes in and out when turning on/off wifi or bluetooth)
I started having this issue two days ago. I only receive text messages when I answer an incoming call. I answer, and then all the texts since the previous call arrive with their vibrate notifications.
I am using Textra on stock unrooted 6.0 with the bootloader unlocked.
My Nexus 5 phone is running Android 6.0.1, but shortly before that, I switched from a T-Mobile Prepaid plan to a postpaid plan and then, immediately back to a prepaid plan again. The thing is that I had a $30/month prepaid plan which is not available as a postpaid plan. But no one told me. They just said that I was eligible for a postpaid plan after 18 months. Of course, I jumped right back when they wanted to charge me $50/month. So that is what caused the texting trouble.
Still can't receive text from iPhone user after 2 weeks. My phone number is removed from iMessage server confirmed with apple. I have deleted iPhone user contacts. I am still not receiving text from iPhone users. I need to know what else to do. If no other choice I will have to return the phone.
So I have been having an issue with my Hangouts no receiving picture msgs. Its as if Hangouts picks and chooses which ones it wants to allow. One notification says"new MMS message to download: size is 1265KB" followed by an expiration period. I click on download, but it keeps failing.
If I am connected to my home wifi my LG nexus 5 will not receive emails. If i turn off wifi and rely on my mobile data then they come through without any problem.
Also if i am connected to my home wifi i cant download any images or videos that people send my through kik or whatsapp. But i do get the text messages that they send.
Okay so my Sprint Nexus 6 is not receiving calls while it's connecting to Wi-Fi and on LTE the only way I can get the phone to receive calls consistently is keep it on 3G this issue is been reported all over the internet I've had the phone for 10 months and just really noticed it was doing this. It appears to be an issue with Wi-Fi and LTE on at the same time if I'm out and about and not on Wi-Fi LTE in phone calls work fine but if I'm in the doors and have Wi-Fi on my phone will stop receiving calls after about 10 minutes of sitting.
A day ago i came through a issue with my nexus, as i connected my charger to the phone, the phone went into a bootloop and wouldnt get into recovery, fastboot, bootloader mode the fix i found on some thread on xda was to remove the back panel and then reattach the battery circuits. This worked exactly as described the phone booted properly.
But since then my nexus wasnt switching to 3G signal, i wasnt sure if it was my sim/operator failing to provide signals, finally after a whole day returning from job i realized that its my nexus thats not connecting to 3g and not the sim operator as i tried using my sim on my mothers phone.
I couldnt find any fixes on the internet and so I went through the internal hardware specifications and from ifixit i learned that reconnecting the antenna wires solved the issue for me.
I am currently on Pure White rom latest version and I am unable to make or receive phone calls I tried other roms like cyanogen, xenon, chroma, and etc different radios (47I, 48B, etc) still nothing...
I went to tmobile store, switched the sim.. nothing... called customer service they said it's the phone... Data works, text message works...
This just randomly started happening. When making calls, I hear ringing and right when the other person picks up, the phone automatically ends the call as if I hit the end call button. Same thing happens with incoming calls. I have full bars when this happens. So far, I've tried re-inserting the SIM card and doing a cache partition wipe to no avail. What could be going on?
I am currently using a stock everything 6p with a Verizon sim for some strange reason today I'm not able to send or receive pictures on the stock messaging app.
I've had the nexus 6 for a little while but just started noticing that while in a group conversation I only receive messages from one person and absolutely nothing from the other. Mostly everyone that I know has an iPhone. I had one as well but I made sure I turned off imessage before I switched to the Nexus.
My fiancee has an iphone and has been trying to send me MMS, and they're not coming through to the Hangouts app. I have auto-retrieve set to ON (even checked auto retrieve on roaming just to make sure). I'm on LTE in NYC (AT&T). I've rebooted the phone, tried deleting the message thread and starting a new one, airplane mode, etc...APN seems fine.
The strange part is this was working just the other day. Now, I'm totally new to Android (coming from an iPhone) so is it possible I changed some setting without knowing what I was doing? Possibly. Do I recall what I did? Nope.
Even stranger: Textra shows the image fine. Hangouts does not.
I believe since my last android update. When i receive MMS messages , I can't open them... When I click download it's downloading for a few minutes and then it just tell me message not downloaded. Touch to retry... I Have a nexus 5 therefore I only use hangouts.
My Blackberry Torch 9800 is unable to access or send emails nor can i access email settings. The problem started 3-days ago. Rebooting makes no difference. Why would this suddenly start happening?
this is honestly the worst phone I have ever owned. I had a blackberry that about a month ago stopped getting about half the emails I should have gotten. After a month of talking with IT about this and trying all kinds of fixes I gave up and decided to get and android phone to bypass the blackberry servers I assumed were the culprit. Well I am going to return this phone tomorrow and use my blackberry again. Yes, after 5 days of trying ever possible setting I have given up. I had the emails working for about 5 minutes and then after setting up a gmail account they stopped. I did a reset on the phone thinking this would help. Nope. And today mysteriously my old gmail account showed up even though I never set it up. Google is evil. And this phone is a piece of crap.
One of the big problems with this phone are the additional security settings under the advanced settings for incoming and outgoing servers. Out of about 10 Motrola IT people I talked to on the phone or chatted with had no idea what these were. I kept asking if they were for SSL and no one knew. Then yesterday I was told by the only intelligent person they are an additional secruity password you can get from your ISP and are similar to SSL keys. I had them checked (the port numbers will automatically change) the first time I had the phone working. But unchecked them and was able to sent two emails to my own email address and yet received no other emails yesterday as a test. Today I tried to send myself another email and it didn't go through though it appeared on my desktop.
I'm using an N5 with stock 5.01, rooted with twrp. During the night I used to use a tasker profile for when sleeping that did pretty much what priority Mode does by allowing my started contacts calls and messages to get through and alert me. With priority Mode now available, I use tasker to just trigger that instead.
But I'm having an issue with my messages. I use Handcent as my default messaging app and when I get an sms from a starred contact when in priority Mode it does not sound. I installed google messenger to check and when it's set to default messaging app I get the notification since no issues. Switch back to Handcent and no luck again.
I use Handcent because I like the pop up alert in it, but more so because I can schedule sms messages for a particular time, which is a feature I do use a bit. So if rather not change from it. Why the alert doesn't sound in Handcent during priority Mode.
Seems like my Nexus 5 won't send SMS messages, at random times, for no apparent reason. I'm sending messages to friends, getting responses, then boom, the "sending" bounces, but refuses to send the SMS. It then gives me a message saying that it failed, and is retrying. Still won't send, until kt decides to randomly send the SMS at some point. I am on the Fido (Canadian) network. I tried through Hangouts and through a 3rd party app.
The Hangout messages on my Nexus 5 are not constantly updating. I will be in a regular conversation then nothing for maybe 30 minutes. Then, messages from the past 30 minutes all pour in at once. I thought it was a Hangouts issue but I have noticed it at times with my GMail also. I am using Straight Talk on AT&T's towers.
So for weeks I've been dealing with a low storage space issue on my N5. I've been hovering at about 500MB of free space. I delete some photos, some cached data, etc., and get some more breathing room for awhile. (An aside: there's a specific app that is using way too much data storage and the amount keeps going up and up; I'm trying to resolve that issue without deleting the app.)
Occasionally I've received the system alerts about no new voicemail downloads, possibly no new message downloads, etc. I'll clear some space and those alerts go away and everything continues to seem to work fine.
This morning I got the low storage space alert(s), deleted some stuff, eventually got a handful of new email notifications, but for the past 6+ hours I've received no new txt messages (I use Messenger app for sms). I currently have 553MB of free space, I'm getting email notifications, and txt messages I send out are successfully received.
How do I resolve this? My N5 is unrooted. I've tried leaving it off for awhile, and have obviously rebooted it. Could this just be some network issue? (I'm on tmobile.)
(btw, I somewhat recently backed up and deleted a bunch of sms/mms messages, so there's only about 8000 currently on my phone, taking up about 165MB of space.)
send an SMS message to someone in Hangouts then delete the message. Now open up the Contacts app (not Dialer) and find that same person. Under the person's details you will see a section called Recents. You will see the message you just sent and deleted with no options, at least that i know of, to delete this message. It will stay there for a few days and then will disappear. But those few days keeping a deleted message is not a good thing. I can just imagine the number of people who are cheating get caught because they didn't know their spouse, boyfriend or girl friend can see who and what recent messages they've been sending to someone, that they thought they had deleted or cleared, just by browsing thru the Contacts app. I think this needs to be changed so that if you delete your messages in Hangouts it will also delete the corresponding message in Contacts instantly.
I'm new to smart phones, My Nexus 5 is my first one, and I just tried to send my first text message, ever. Fail.
I get an error saying I need a valid 10 digit mobile number. Looking at the failed text, I see it has a +1 in front of the number. I'm guessing that is the problem, but I haven't been able to find anything on how to correct it.
Unlike most people who were looking forward to it, I was dreading this Hangouts/SMS merger.
One of the things I have not been able to figure out is how to search within my SMS messages. The old SMS app did this easily at the push of one on screen button.
Is this no longer a feature or am I just not looking in the right place?
Trying to figure out best way to stay on top of notifications. Not really thrilled with getting them in the notifications section for each email - I get too many of them.
My Galaxy S3 and past iphones all simply show you a notification with a number on the mail or messages app itself, telling me how many I have new or unread. I believe there is even a third party app for Gmail. But I assume it should simply be a setting to the existing apps or a active widget. But no luck.
Am I missing a setting, or is there really no actual unread message totals notification on the email and hangouts icons?
For whatever reason, whenever I receive a group message with more than 10 people included (Happens Daily) I cannot respond? Is this a limitation of Android / Nexus 5 / or T-Mobile?
I have my Tour set to delete messages after 15 days. I just noticed that they're not deleting. I've noticed that emails stick around for a month or so before being deleted, but SMS don't delete. It's been set to 15 days since I got it in September, and I still have every SMS sent/received on it
Is this a known bug? Is there a fix for it other than hope it's fixed in the next OS release?
Why do my texts sometimes not show up until days later for my friends, and why do they sometimes miss out on texts altogether, even from other iPhones in the group text? And why do their texts come through as single texts to me, then I have to hit a download button, then the text goes through to the group text.
It's become very frustrating and I've never experienced anything like it until I got an s5.
My Torch has been deleting my email messages that are more than 30 days old although I have made setting to keep all my messages as <forever>. I am using gmail and my messages have not been deleted on my gmail.
