Galaxy S5 :: Not Having Google Calendar Notifications Running Lollipop?
Jul 25, 2015
I'm running Android 5.0 on a Galaxy S5.
I'm using the Google Calendar app (not the built in Samsung calendar app). I create all of my Google Calendar events on my laptop. The Google Calendar app on my S5 displays the events just fine.
In the Google Calendar app on my S5, I go to the Settings menu, I select my calendar from the Settings menu, and the "notifications" section says "1 hour before as SMS".
Also, in the phone's settings, I go to "Application manager", select "Calendar", and the "Show notifications" box is checked.
The problem is that I never get notifications for calendar events. (I expect that they would show up in the notification drawer, but I have never seen a Google Calendar notification there.)
I have Google Calendar running on both my iPhone and Nexus 5. I get notifications on my iPhone but not my Nexus 5. I've been through every setting I can find but nothing has worked. I don't have SMS notifications enabled.
I started google calendar notifications to my email before I had a smart phone.... on my old Galaxy S4 I didn't have this problem. I have my default set up to send email (was supposed to be only to my computer) days before and hours before as a reminder. Now that I have my GS5 phone and have sync'd it with my calendar I get double notifications for some things and I cant get it to turn off. I dont want to turn off all my notifications? I turned off my email notifications on my phone but that doesn't stop me from getting double Notifications Texts and sound?
I use the default Calendar app on my S5 with several Gmail accounts, all which have default reminder settings. None of those accounts will use my default for calendar reminders, even after Syncing and rebooting. I've gone into my phone settings and searched for Notification, Reminder and Calendar and none of those settings have default reminders. I can only select to enable to disable these options.
I have run out of space on my phone. (Again. Why can't I add an sdcard to this nexus thing dammit?) I'm going through the Storage sections under Settings, picking and choosing what I want to keep and discard. There's a number of items appearing in Downloads that I want to move to my PC, but I can't find the files and the only commands available are Open, Delete and Share. How do I locate the items so can copy them?My phone is not rooted and is running Lollipop 5.1.1.
Downloads as shown in from Settings >> Storage: [URL] .....
I flashed yesterday Android Lollipop on my N5 and I found out a "problem" for my use.
I am using some applications like llama, lux and UP which have persistent (or ongoing, I don't know the exact term) notifications (to be not killed I presume). My issue here is that these notifactions are displayed on my lockscreen and it is taking space for nothing.
Before I was using "slidelock", which is a lockscreen app and these persistent notifs were not displayed on the lockscreen but were still on the status bar.
Is there a way to have the same behavior?
I saw this: [URL] .... but it completely removes the notification on the status bar, so I am not sure the app is still running.
I just got my S5 today, upgraded from my three and half year old S2 Skyrocket, However, it seems to have some weird default "unlock effect" where these stupid bubbles of colors appear wherever you touch or swipe on the lockscreen. I've searched around for how to get rid of it, but everything I've found says go to the Lock Screen settings menu and change the "unlock effect." But the lock screen settings menu on my phone doesn't have that option. I tried searching in the settings for "unlock effect" and it comes up with a result, but when I click it, it just takes me to the lock screen settings--which as I said has no option for unlock effects.Did they remove the ability to change/remove the lockscreen effect in 5.0 or am I just completely missing something?
I just updated my new replacement phone to Lollipop on my Samsung Galaxy s5... now i am not able to connect to my JVC car radio via Bluetooth. When I try my phone doesn't even see my radio. My old Galaxy S5 used to play just fine on the radio with the Lollipop update... It does see and pair to other devices, like my Tone Pro headset.
I just recently updated my Samsung Galaxy s5 from 4.4.2 to 5.1.1, and I'm loving all the new features. However, what is the dropdown notifications that appear at the top of your screen. So far, I've only seen this happen for Twitter notifications, but I wish it happened with everything. Does this only work with certain apps? Is there a list of these apps? Is it some setting I'm missing? (Attached is an example image I found on Google)
I'm wondering if the GS5 has lock screen notifications on Lollipop with the fingerprint security option on? I am unable to do so now on KitKat, and am not sure if I am able to on KitKat with or without the fingerprint reader. I'd like to keep my phone locked to keep people from accessing it, but would like to be able to glance / see any emails or texts I receive without having to unlock and pulling down the notification bar every time.
Just updated to lollipop and I really don't like the lock screen when I get an email the big bar that shows up...I saw where I can turn it into secure content, but still, I hate that...my girl always sees the bar that I am getting emails and what not, regardless of if she can see the messages..
The very top notifications are fine, just don't need it plastered on the lock screen, how to turn off that while still having the little icon notifications on top?
So I updated to lollipop on Verizon S5 the other day and I thought at first it asked if I wanted my notifications to turn lock screen on, but then after turning notifications off and using a different lock screen for a bit, I went back to stock lollipop lock screen and now none of my notifications turn the lock screen on. Does notifications turn the lock screen on so you can see them? If so, where the setting is to choose this as I can not seem to find it anywhere on the phone in any settings?
I no longer see a "card" for my text notifications on my lock screen after the lollipop upgrade on my Galaxy S5.
I get the status "notification bar" (see attached screenshot), but I want the "card" (like the "New voice mail" card in the screenshot) to appear on my lock screen - I don't want to have to tap the "notification bar" for the rest of my notifications. Hopefully I'm just missing a setting, and this is not the expected behavior....
Here's what I've tried (and what my settings are):
1) Lock Screen/Screen Lock is set to swipe. 2) Sounds and Notification/While Locked is set to "Show All Content". 3) Applications/Messages/Notifications/Preview Message is checked. 4) Applications/ApplicationManager/Messages -> Show notifications is checked. 5) I have cleared the cache for Messages Application. 6) I have done a cache partition wipe.
I had been having some difficulty editing the 'location' on my upcoming events - I'd touch the 'save' button, the app would seem to respond correctly, but the change wouldn't stick. (Other edits, such as time or date, seemed to process properly)
Well, I think I may have found the answer. My calendar app is one I use all through the day, and so it's always on the new Lollipop app/website switcher carousel. Any app on that carousel is fixed in its last state. This must have consequences where are links with other apps - in this case Maps. The existing link stays intact until the app is truly closed.
Editing an event's location is therefore not possible unless Business Calendar is first closed, accomplished by simply removing it from the carousel. Then the event can be successfully updated. (Immediately afterwards, of course, the app is back on that carousel)
This may be a general problem/solution where the app/website switcher is concerned.
So I have 2 calendars, my personal gmail calendar, and my work (exchange) calendar. I like the gmail calendar to have a certain notification sound, and I like the work calendar to use another.
I also use Microsoft's Outlook app for my work email and calendar, and set those notification sounds how I want them.
What happens is if I have a work calendar notification popup, I get the right notification and sound from the Outlook app, but then I also get a notification and wrong sound (it uses the gmail calendar sound) from the Android calendar app.
I know I could just disable the work calendar within the Android calendar app, but I want it in there because I have a widget set up that shows my agenda from both my personal and work calendars. If I removed the work calendar, it would leave the widget.
So I don't know if all that was confusing or not, but here is what I want: Personal gmail account calendar notifications from Android calendar appWork exchange account calendar notifications from Outlook calendar app. Both personal gmail calendar and exchange calendar set up in Android calendar app so I can see them both in my agenda widget
What I don't want is when a work event occurs, is to get 2 notifications about it using 2 different notification sounds. I only want to be notified from the Outlook calendar app.
Sometimes remind me of reminders on certain times (Sometimes), but on location example my address it will not. My Note 4 and google notifications always worked, location and time.
Is there something I have to turn on, or S6 doesn't do this?
I have lg g3 and its running lollipop. i am having trouble using thr do not disturb mode. Even when i turn it on, i am getting all the notifications. What could be wrong?
This was working very nicely on the iPhone. I'd setup a route via Google maps, and go. While driving a call would come in, I answer it. The phone screen is displayed.
Because the phone screen is displayed Google maps notifies me of an upcoming navigation instruction. It also auto mutes it's navigation voice so as to not disturb the phone call.
Google maps will also display the same notifications in the lock screen on IOS.
This is much the same as Android dropping down the phone controls when you're in a different app and an incoming call comes in.
Before the lollipop upgrade I was able to plug my lg3 into my windows8 computer using the USB power cord and easily transfer files (pictures). after upgrade, computer won't recognize the phone. is it possible to roll back to kitkat so I can transfer?
I just switched from the default Samsung calendar app to the Google Calendar app. Events from my primary Google calendar, "Personal", appear on the Google Calendar app on my S5, but the calendar itself doesn't appear as an option when creating new events or in the Settings page. As a result, I can see all of my events that I enter via my PC browser (correctly under the label "Personal"), but I cannot add new events from my phone to that specific calendar. My other, less frequently used Gmail calendars (Birthdays, work, a few shared calendars) appear.
I recently upgraded from the HTC EVO LTE to the Samsung S5. One widget I loved on my EVO was a Google Calendar widget. It was 4x1 and just showed the next event coming up on my calendar right on my home screen. While I have downloaded the Google Calendar app from the Play Store, I still don't have that widget. Not from the Google Calendar app nor the built in Samsung app. I just have a 2x3 one, 4x2 and 4x4. Which widget I'm referring to and how to get it? Or even if I could just get it to show up on my lockscreen but nowhere else, that would be fine!
I've posted this problem earlier. My Birthdays in my Contacts, do not carry over to Google Calendar. I don't have access to a laptop to go on the Web, to use the web version of Google calendar. All advice has mentioned Gmail. I don't use Gmail for email. It's not loaded as an app, but I used to use it. Is that the reason why contact birthdays don't show on Google Calendar? I have added birthdays as a recurring event, but it annoys me that it doesn't work.
Since updating Lollipop to 5.1, Google Now will not recognize contacts with voice. It repeatedly gives me the response, "You don't have contact details for ___." I have deleted and then restored accounts, cleared cache, checked to make sure all settings are correct in Google Now, all to no avail.
I want to sync my husband's google calendar to mine on my S6. If I add his google account under the add account it adds his whole google account, all his gmail and every hangout notification also pings on my phone. Is there a way to sync only the calendars? I've tried going into the settings for the google account on my phone and there is no sync toggle for hangouts
I had to restore, among other things, Google calendar. It has duplicated many items. Is there a way to delete all those Duplicates without deleting them individually?
