Galaxy S5 :: Getting Duplicated Contacts On Android?
Dec 28, 2015Every time I add a new contact or edit a contact, an exact duplicate is created. If I delete one, they both disappear.

Apr 15, 2012I use a IPhone, IPod touch, and a core 2 duo old mac pro with OSX 10.5 witch is not compatible with icloud. I don't have enough for a new computer at this time. I needed to add some new cadigorys "leads" and "clients" for my business with I did not add be for terning on Icloud,When I added them on a computer with OS x.5 it worned me it may duplicate them and I could not see a other way to add the needed cadigorys.The Ipod/Iphone dont let me edit contact cadigorys. So now all my contacts are duplicated I need to find a way to solve this fast with out buying stuff.

Mar 21, 2012I've been having problems with duplicated contacts for ages, probably because I sometimes sync with mobileme and sometimes with iTunes. Some contact names have a person's name with a massive list of random email addresses and other names started popping up which were wrong. I downloaded an app called DeleteQ to remove the duplicates and now it's gone completely nuts. The wrong names are popping up all over the place when people call and text. People's details are all jumbled up.
It's got a phone number that's repeated for hundreds of email addresses. My address book on my mac has similar problems, but I think it's in a much better state than my phone, but it's hard to tell. I've tried replacing my phone contacts with my computer address book contacts, but I think that's led to more duplication. I don't intend to move to iCloud until Lion improves with a decent update, which I'm mentioning in case anyone here recommends moving to iCloud.

Jan 13, 2010Every morning when I wake up, my new Storm 2 had duplicated all of its contacts, sometime there is up to 30 of the same contact. I am new to BB in general, and this is driving me crazy! I have google sync running from my google contacts. It has even gone as far as erasing some of my contacts.
My BB handset is now more accurate then my contact list on my desktop. All the other threads have me resetting my handheld, but that is something that I can not do as it is the most accurate now.
Is there a program where I can download all of my contacts to desktop and save them there, and then upload the ones I want back? BTW, for the last 5 days at least I have manually deleted over 400 contacts, this is pretty time consuming! GRR

I've tried several combinations of selecting the item to be shared and bringing the backs of the phones together. With contacts it seems to have shared the contact but it doesn't show up in the contacts on the receiving phone. I'm looking for a step by step process for doing this.

And I also tried Dropbox in new galaxy s5, all the photos are doubled. one is original and other one's are duplicate (few Kb's). I had around 900 photos from iPhone to new galaxy s5, but in Dropbox- total photos are around 1700. Is there anyway I can delete duplicate one's easily.
secondly, drop-box setting is "sync via WI-fi". even if i don't click any new picture or video, its still backing up every-time. at one point it says" up to date" after few hours it syncing again.

Aug 10, 2015My girlfriend is coming up as something like 20 contacts in the Contacts app on my Samsung S5 with Android 5.0. Even if I link her contacts together, they just get automatically created again. Same think if I delete them. She has several email addresses and we share several apps together such as traffic apps, Facebook, WhatsAPP Skype, etc etc. There is a separate conact for each one. I've tried setting the "Contact to Show" setting to Device (only) but they all still show up so they must be "Device" contacts. I've also got the Contact Setting option checked for "Show only contacts with phone". Even then all her email only and app only contacts show up.

Nov 3, 2013I moved from iPhone to HTC One (on VZW) recently and I am having a hard time figuring out the syncing process on Android phones, esp HTC One I have. I have a gmail account and a lot of contacts are there, but there are some that were only on my iPhone so I imported all my iPhone ones to the HTC One.
I consider myself a power user. Please do not refer to older apps (like Contacts, its really People app now in JB). Also, I have lost about 60 contacts recently while trying to figure out the process.
I think it would be useful if I ask few specific questions:
1. Are gmail contacts the master contacts for syncing purposes? If yes, what is the role of Google+?
2. If I'd like all my contacts to be always backed up and in sync with Gmail contacts, does it really make sense to have local phone contact? Somebody I met recently showed me that he adds all his contacts directly to Google from the phone (HTC One), so I was wondering if keeping local phone contact is really necessary. Mention any scenarios in which local phone contacts would be appropriate.
3. How does the relationship between phone contact and my google contact (gmail, that is) work in terms of addition, update and delete? When I erased all my contacts on phone, it ended up erasing my contacts from gmail when I tried to sync contacts.
4. In HTC One People app, when you add a contact, it defaults to "Phone". Is there a way to change that default to "Google account"? I saw on someone's phone and they could not explain how that was configured.
