View 4 RepliesSometime in the last week, a post was made asking how to prevent an unwanted person from contacting her via SMS messaging. She can block his phone number directly, and/or just not answer "unknown caller" attempts. (could just direct those to a silent ring/disconnect)
I was browsing aimlessly thru the internet and just came across this blurb:
(*Text blocking not available on Android 4.4/KitKat) found it here: [URL] ....
and this blurb: • Starting from Android 4.4, Google has revoked SMS/MMS permissions from developers. Due to that fact, LINE whoscall will not be able to block SMS/MMS for Android versions 4.4 and above. Call blocking feature is not affected.
If that is actually true, as of today we have no way to block unwanted SMS messages.
I was reading all of the info on different Caller ID apps to see if any of them are worthwhile.
I just got my Galaxy S5 and love it. I know you can add numbers to a reject list so when they call it takes them to your voicemail and you get no notification that even called. Is there a way to add those numbers to a reject list so when they text you get no notification as well, or am I stuck with receiving their texts still? I know there's other apps that block texts, but from all the ones I've tried the screen still lights up when the blocked messages come in, and the one that didn't like up I did not like at all.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there an app you can get to block numbers? But still be aware that they are text/ringing you? I don't want to have to ring up my phone provider to do this as they may only be a occasional caller. I used to have an app like this on my sony ericcson xperia! Surely apple have one?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThere has been an upsurge in complaints on the AT&T Community forum about spam texts from 1410100001. Some have said they will block that number and then get spam texts from 1410100002, and then 3, etc.
Most of these texts come overnight and those who don't have their phone on silent are awakened by the spam. I discovered on my LG G3 that by going into the menu on the native messaging app and finding the number I blocked as spam, there is a label "same as". If I click on that label, it offers several choices, one of which is "starts with". So rather than block individual numbers, I can block all numbers that start with 1410100. I'm sure this will work, although I'm not going to spend time testing it out.
Wife's phone, HTC One, does not seem to have this blocking option, although she has been spared from receiving the spam texts.
I own a Galaxy S5 (international unlocked) along with Android 5.0 Lollipop. Recently, I started noticing that it automatically downloads advertisement videos that appear in my internal storage. This happens irregularly. Is this a virus and how can I stop it?

How can I ensure they are deleted permanently? Do I need to sync to Itunes, or will that bring them back again (I have gone through and deleted yet again from my iphone but dont want them to come back) I don't want them to transfer onto my ipad so I haven't linked my ipad and iphone yet.

View 11 Replies View RelatedMy super easy cell phone number is a series of repeating numbers, so I am the reluctant recipient of A LOT of b/u/t/t-dialed calls, especially while I sleep. I turned on Blocking Mode on my Samsung Galaxy S5 so that only numbers that are NOT in my contacts are blocked while I sleep. I thought blocking these calls simply meant that my phone wouldn't ring and that notification sounds would be "silenced" since the setting options control notifications. Does it really mean that all of these b/u/t/t-dialed calls are completely blocked and do not show up in my call log?
Luckily, there are stretches of days when no one b/u/t/t-dials me. I haven't had a b/u/t/t-dial since I enabled Blocking mode, but it's been a few days, so I do not know what it is exactly.
I am happy that accidental b/u/t/t-dialers aren't bothering me at night, but since I thought that they'd still show up in my missed call log, I thought I'd still be able to see who called during the blocking mode. I am now concerned about missing an overnight call from someone who needs to reach in case of a family emergency (e.g., hospital, police department, etc.)
I just got a galaxy s5, wanted to customize the screens and icons a bit more, read about nova launcher and downloaded. Am very happy with the screens and icons, etc. but ever since I did that I can't use google maps gps. What I try to put in an address to ask for directions it says "turn by turn navigation is only available in these location modes: high accuracy (or) device only" Then you have the option of hitting ignore, which means you still don't get directions, or settings, which takes you to the location section of settings. Location is set to on, but I can't see any place where "high accuracy" is an option and don't remember this ever being an issue with my S3 - which is why I think this is related to the Nova Launcher?how to fix it. I'll uninstall the launcher if I have to but wondering if there is an alternative.

I've tried the 'blacklist' option but it seems that people can find out that I've blacklisted them. Is there a more discreeet way where they can't find out?
This appeared for about maybe 30 mins to an hour and then turned back into the picture I had there before. I unlocked the phone and relocked and turned the sreen on and off and this advertisement didn't go away until finally on its own randomly. And no, no music or apps were running that would have caused this, I checked. Is this some sort of new advertising scheme Apple or AT&T is rolling out?? If so, it's ridiculous!! It's very invasive and instead of being able to see the picture of my son who was 5 states away at the time I had to deal with some lame advertisementEdit: When I first noticed it I was logged into the wifi network of a hotel I was staying at but the image remained long after I left the hotel.

So i like to use the "wifi timer" function when i go to sleep, and auto start my wifi when i get to work.
But this piece of crap sometimes does not work, is there a fix for this problem ?
I believe the problem is , if you change the wifi status at any moment the wifi timer gets buggy: P when I fist set the Wifi Timer it works, but just for a few days.
Samsung software is really crappy, the "Blocking mode" also does not work correctly, configured not to show led notifications on specified time, and still does...

I've been having a problem with my Safari browser on my iPhone 3GS. Whenever I visit a certain site (yes, it's a family friendly site) my Safari browser gets redirected to an advertisement for a not-so-family-friendly site. The phone is not jailbroken, and though it is connected to a wireless network, neither of my other computers are having an issue. I also disconnected the phone from the wifi and got the same results on Safari with the same site using my network provider. I cleared the cookies and history, then restarted to no avail. I even restored the phone to factory settings but no luck.
