Cseries :: Nokia C7 Lost Messages After Nokia Belle Update?
Mar 11, 2012I performed updated from Anna to Belle today for my girlfriend on Nokia C7. I synchronized contacts, calendar and notes via iSync on my Mac OS. After update all messages are erased and she had important information there. I read in trouble shooting, that:: What should I do if the automatic restore of my phones content doesnâ work after I did the update to Nokia Belle and I dont see my contacts, calendar, bookmarks, etc.?A: The backup of your phone content is stored under C:Users[username]DocumentsNokia SuiteBackups and includes "Nokia_Belle_Update" in the filename. If the automatic restore doesn't work, you can try to restore your contents manually by opening the "Tools menu" in Nokia Suite and selecting "Restore".
I installed Ovi Suite on Mac and downloaded extra support for C7, but I couldn't restore that information. She never installed Ovi Suite on her PC. My question is: is she installs Ovi Suite for PC on her laptop, will she be able to restore old messages? I recently switched to Belle as well on my Nokia N8, but I'm not that crazy about old messages, so I haven't noticed it. I checked on my phone using Files disk C, but there wasn't any folders with my username.

Feb 15, 2012Why Nokia is not giving Symbian Belle update for nokia C6-00 while Nokia 500 is running on same platform which is much cheaper than C6-00. I am using C6-00 from around 16 months and the software is really slow and it hangs multiple times in a day. Before purchasing this phone i suggest all friends to purchase nokia phones, at that time i was using nokia's low end phones but when i purchased this phone, it never gives me satisfation that i am using a smartphone. So i am making plan to move on to some other brand.

Nov 25, 2011I've brought my nokia c5-00 on 20th jan 2011.Today I was updating my phone to it's latest version, but the software update failed in mid showing error "connection lost with the device". And from that point phone dosen't starts. When i press the power button i.e the red button used to cut calls, it only vibrates a bit with no light on screen and switches itself off.I've tried everything to make it work like pressing the call, star and 3 button to hard reset it but it had no effect on it, my phone dosen't even starts for charging.Then after a failed long effort to restore my phone I decided to take it to the nokia care.I showed it to the nokia care representative and after examining the phone by pressing the power button she instantly asked me if it's a failed software update by pc. I said yes it's due to failed software update. Then she forwarded it to the technician to repair the phone.Now comes the shock.....The technician said that the software update is failed due to a [B]bend in PCB plate[/B] and he showed me the PCB. The bend in PCB is something like thisAnd here are the images of my phoneI want to know how can the PCB plate bend like this if there is not even a scratch on the phone. Nokia care technician had denied warranty due to the bend in the plate. Where lies my fault in this?I live in meerut and visited two nokia care centers1- Nokia care, baccha parkRemark- will charge 70% of the original price of the phone and will change the PCB plate.2- Nokia care, abu laneRemark- They said the phone can be fixed or cannot be fixed and will charge Rs 1500.

I have a wifi connection connected to a adsl 512kbps download link and the mobile have 3.5g data connection from Mobitel in Sri lanka. Jun 27, 2012i had a C7, working great till i updated it with symbian belle.okay here is what i did.-my GPS was working on symbian anna with maps version 3.06beta-i updated the phone to symbian belle from symbian anna.-installed nokia maps 3.06 beta, and replaced the one that came with the update because it had the option of route planning which the installed map did not.-this was the first time i checked to see if the GPS was working after the update, and it did not work even after i stood in an open field for half an hour.-i learned that the latest update of nokia maps in fact had route planning, so i used the nokia PC suite to reset the phone software, and then later updated everything that was listed in the software update app.-my GPS could still not work after i stood in the same damn field for another half an hour.-now it will just give approximate positions based on the wireless networks, and not give any accurate position, so i cant use it for navigation anymore.-i tried running the gpsinfoqt app, and it keeps saying searching for a signal, but it never finds one!

Oct 27, 2011I was updating my Nokia C5-00 (RM-645) from Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1.1.90 (latest downloaded today). I was updating to latest release of 071.005. C5-00 battery was fully charged and I was updating through my laptop. Nokia Ovi suite downloaded firmware (some 128mb). while installing after some 4-5 min in the midway of installing it noticed "something wrong". It instructed me to remove micro usb from phone and reconnect it. I did like that again and again it gave same instructions and at last nothing happened.
Now my phone is switched off and it's not getting on... I can feel the vibration when I press Power on button but It's not working and even I tried (*+3+Green+Power on) button combition to reset, even that's also not working.. Now if I connect to Ovi suite, my phone is not ditected by Ovi suite. what I have to do now?

Dec 3, 2011My brother just got hold of a C6-00 that previously belong to his wife. The phone has been working fine and have all updates installed. It's not modified in any way and only uses official upgrades. But, after the latest update (SW 40.2.021, custom version 40.2.021.259.01 - 06-06-2011 - Brazil), something went wrong. This update was installed OTA on November 1st and since then, two strange problems started to happen:
1. When using the camera in video mode, the "Exit" and "Options" touch commands disappear from the screen. But, when using photo mode, those appear and I can change all camera settings. Right now, in video mode, the phone is locked to "Widescreen High Quality".
2. Inside the gallery, when we try to play recorded videos, we are always greeted with the following message: "Unable to play either sound or video clip. Trying to play partially." This happens with every video recorded by this very phone, in all quality settings (3GP, MP4 Wide and MP4 4:3).

Oct 28, 2011Firstly, I've had a problem ticket and Emails with Nokia Support on the problem I'm about to describe and I'm told it will be forwarded to the OVI Suite Team to investigate.Basic problem is that Ovi Suite can not correctly register/recognise the maps it has downloaded to the phone.However the phone checks the server with it's map update function and reports back that they are at the latest level and no updates are available. Ovi Suite tells me correctly the maps I have on my phone but still offers the " 'gold star' Updated Maps Available" and if you then click this BOOM! all your phone maps are wiped out as the new maps start to download.VERY VERY annoying and expensive in time and financially costly on internet connections with limited/paid for bandwidth.I can confirm, as support have, that I have the lastest versions of phone software, maps software and installed maps.I've also done 3 clean installs (including running PC Suite Cleaner) and the problem still remains.As far as the phone is concerned it is totally happy with all software levels (after checking with the servers) and everything else works on the phone as normal.
I have asked if there are any internal logs/debug switches I can turn on to help diagnose the problem but am advised'for nokia use only' (or words to that effect).From an end user point of view this is very frustrating, especially the basic map update mechanism as once initiated all existing maps are wiped out on the phone.I think this should be changed if at all possible.Most people will want an up to date map for where they are or planning to go.However to have a map version of places you are likely to go at short notice (even if they are out of date) is and important backup/safety feature.To be forced to update all maps is really not a very user or server friendly feature.Anyway, any comments are welcome (do you have a C5-03 & Ovi Suite and see this issue?) and meanwhile I'll wait to see if there is a fix in the pipeline.
