I noticed that GPRS gets activated on its own. Packet data connectivity is set to "when needed" and network connectivity of all applications are set to "ask every time". I can't find a way to turn off the GPRS connection. Even if I turn off the phone-- remove the battery and SIM card as advised by Nokia help line-- the GPRS still activates a few seconds after the phone is turned back on.
I can connect with Wi-Fi by using Opera(original one), Chat, Games, i.e. all. It is all OK.
Also I can connect with my GPRS by using Opera(still original one), Twitter and Facebook app(its own app), Mail app(its own app, connecting GMail and Hotmail, and able to connect their chat facilities like GTalk and MSN).
However; I cannot connect OVI Store by GPRS, any application stored in Games.
I'm using GPRS heavily in order to use Wi-Fi so I cannot use some critical Apps like accounting or such whivh need connection.
I got a Nokia C3-00 for Christmas and love the fact that I can use the wifi at home to acess the internet. When I use the mail function it asks me what connection I want to use, either the GPRS or the Wifi and both work. The same happens when I use the communities button and facebook & Snaptu app. However when I use the opera mini browser it just automatically connects to GPRS. I am only on pay as you go so when I can I want to use wifi and just use the GPRS when I really have to.
I have tried all the fixes and the one that seems to work is the one suggested by Charlie222. This fix makes everything which needs an internet connection ask you which connection you'd like to use and if you select wifi then it works. However if you want to use the GPRS then the settings will not work. This means that I have had to go back through and undo everything Charlie said to do which means again when I use opera mini it just defaults to GPRS.
I know it may seem greedy but I want both GPRS and Wifi to work so as I said I can use wifi at home then GPRS when out and about (mainly when I am bored at work!).
I have updated to the very latest version of software for the phone but still nothing seems to solve the problem and all I want is the phone to work how it should.
i brought a new nokia c6 and since day 1 i hav been trying to configure internet but all in vain..I have an mtnl 3g connection, and despite many attempts i cant configure mobile internet or mms in my phone.
I keep getting symbols E (EDGE?) and G (GPRS?) on the top of my screen in my c3-00, but I have never connected to the Internet with the phone yet. Do those symbols mean that such a network is available or is the phone is connected to the Internet? I'd just like to be sure with it.
My c7-00 not connecting through edge/gprs network of tata docomo network, but that of reliance, airtel is working.it is not showing even E sign when packet data connection is "when available" mode. other ones are showing it.
the problem is the connection gprs is start automatically , when i use the chat or nimbuzz or ebuddy the gprs start automatically i can't work the apliquation with WLAN !
I like the way browser asks what connection to use every time it's opened... Can I make Mail, Chat and Communities apps to do the same thing, giving me to choose wifi and not turning EDGE on automatically?
I want to use whatsapp on my nokia C3-00 and use it only through the wifi. I have tried creating new access point but every time I connect it uses gprs although packet data connection is selected to 'when connected'. I have deleted the access points through personnel settings but still some access points are available through packet data. Is it because of that gprs is activated? If yes, how can I delete them?
I have a problem with my GPRS, the GPRS symbol (G) is no longer appearing in my home screen, but i have a load. I'm using it so that i can use my fb, i always turn off-on my cp but still it didn't appear. It's only now that it didn't appear, i didn't change any settings about my GPRS.
i would loke to knoe where i can enable and disable th gprs/edge data transfer. i.e. I am using limitted internet acess with 50 hrs inter net usage. Now i dont know when it connect i could not use it very well. i want to enable/disable when ever i need. I checked connection manager but it does not give any option no active connectionarul
I have an unlocked TELUS Storm playing GSM on a Philippines carrier called Smart. The data connection and call reception quality here has been nothing but horrible. Dropped calls/Calls failed, etc are pretty rampant around here (no matter what part of town you're in)
Anyway, I'd _like_ to think it may be something to do with the fact that the device is not Smart authorized/sold device. However, the backward nature of cellphone networks here could argue me down.
Long story short, now that you know my troubles.. when I'm on a full GPRS/EDGE connection, I pull up the browser. Once I start getting ready to type in a URL, the GPRS/EDGE goes to gprs/edge. It happens about 98% of the time. This same thing happens when I go to URL from an email/sms etc. I can't seem to figure it out. I've been on .328, but upgrading to .419 as we speak. Thoughts would be nice.
I tried to disconnect by going to Setting->Connectivity->disconnect, after which it disconnects and then in few seconds reconnects. The reconnection takes place automatically Any way to disable it and use it only while I need it only? This problem started only yesterday. Was fine till then.
I have recently purchased a Blackberry Bold 9700 mobile, I was having an Bharti Airtel (Mobile Service Provider in India) SIM card already, which I was using with my previous phone. The problem is that I am trying to activate the general GPRS service (not the Blackberry services) on my phone, but I am unable to get the settings from the Airtel for activating it, in-fact they say that your handset is not compatible for that..! I am very much deceived because of that, I thought I have purchased on of the best mobile set and service available, but it doesn't seems. Even I tried to activate the plan of internet and got the message after that "You have activated the plan", but still I am unable to access the service..! In-face I received a message after some time from Airtel saying "Your phone is not provisionable"..! I do not understand, how a advanced smart phone like Blackberry which has everything inside it, can be incompatible for a simple service like GPRS?
I top up my blackberry yesterday so that I could get my monthly Email and Internet for the next 30 days.Since i done that my bb has not worked I have taking out the battery for 3 Hours but still my GPRS has not come up what can I do to make it work.
I have managed to get a low cost GPRS plan enabled on my blackberry 9300 curve device. With this I am able to use Google maps for navigation and Opera for general browsing.
However I am unable to use BB specific applications like LinkedIn and Facebook and apparently the root cause seems that BB browser does not connect via GPRS. It always needs BIS/BES. Is there a way to get around this and start using BB browser with the general GPRS plan.
I want to ask abut any IM that works without having BIS or BES on my blackberry 8520 Why I'm not using BIS if you ask, because the BIS is a little bit expensive here.
I've tried WindowsLiveMessenger - YahooMess for blackberry and they will only work on BIS.
I've tried ebuddy, but there's no ebuddy for blackberry. So I have to use ebuddyLITE and it is not great for chatting (refreshing all the time and its not user friendly)
Is there any suggestion for another IM that works only on normal GPRS? [without activating BIS]
i have 9700 can't get blackberry service...i already chek in provaider pin's oke..they say not suspend, but this phone can't use blackberry service because the letter gprs is small?
for the past week i am facing a intermittent connectivity issue in my ray, My GPRS plan is enabled and spoke to the network provider for the settings, but the issue is whenever i turn my gprs on the little arrow mark never comes in the notification bar even if i wait for a couple of minutes nothing happens, so i restarted my phone and GPRS started to work fine and after 15 - 30 minutes the connection drops automatically. Its really a pain because it works only for little time, but not its not conencting anymore.
Troubleshooting that i have tried?
1. Deleted the APN and manually added new APN by contacting my network provider
2. Restored my phones system settings ( After doing this the internet worked for a day and automatically dropped of, No its not even connecting )
i want to use gprs of x10 for notebook with blothooth but when searching for new connection with notebook just wirlees transfer active. please help me know that haw can i conect to gprs of my x10.
Before I went to Spain I downloaded the maps of a part of spain and switched of automatic connection to the internet (Allways ask). For the determination of the location only the internal gps is switched on. I don't want any roaming connection to internet during my stay in Spain.Starting OVI maps pops-up immediately the question for a connection to GPRS which I canceled. It is, if a connection is made to GPS, possible to find my possition but finding a route to a address doesn't work. All I get is the question to connect to GPRS and if I canceled that nothing happens, in other words it was not possible to search for a location / planning a route.Do I something wrong or is this standard behaviour of OVI maps?
I don't really want to accidently press 3G and 2G etc is there a way to disable it? I am on monthly contract and have an option where it costs me 30p to use internet if I go onto it, but thats for the entire day. Also, I have the most recent ovi maps and I set it to offline mode, and tried to download some voices. It said, connect to internet? And I pressed yes and it downloaded them. Would it have used 3g/2g or my WLAN?
I've got a set up gprs profile in my c3-00 but sometimes i'd like to use wifi instead. What type of connection does phone use when i have an established wifi connection and how can i force it to use wifi when available?Browsers - neither opera, nor ovi don' ask me what type of connection to use, they just connect to internet. I didn't choose "don't ask" for browser but did for 3d party soft.
