I back-up my blackberry through desktop manager about once every two weeks. Yesterday, my phone crashed and gave me an error message, forcing me to update my software and wiping the phone in the process. It did this once before as well. When I went to go restore my blackberry after the update, the last backup file I could find was from May. I backed it up two days ago. I've backed it up a ton of times since last May. This doesn't make any sense.I've lost all my contacts, all my messages, everything that I gained in the last six months.Does anyone know where the files could be, or why Desktop Manager might have messed up like this and not actually been making backups when it said it was? I restored with the May backup and tried backing it up, and of course now it works and the file is in the Blackberry Backups folder. I've searched for .bbb files on my computer and found nothing beyond what's in the folder.
I am following the instructions to copy the files from my xoom to a windows 7 PC (64 bit). It does not copy all the files and folders. For example when I do the select all instructed I only get 4 of the 13GB of data. I saw that it only copied the music files in the directory music, none of the sub-directories. I could then select all the folders in music and copy them over (none of my music on the xoom has any DRM). I was still missing some files. When I hook the xoom up via the USB cable I get the following mounted:
ComputerXoomInternal Storage
I can not drag Internal Storage to the folder created on the windows 7 pc, it is just a red circle with a line thru it. I can select all the directories/folders under Internal Storage, but it randomly picks which directories/files/sub-directories to copy.
Perhaps a problem with the win 7 pc driver?
Before I send the xoom off (and I have my packing box already) I would like to back it up completely.
sent an off market file to my phone via bluetooth which did not install because i had not unchecked the 'install off market' applications.after that i now cant find the files location to install it.
I have two different .ipd files and want to combine them to make one .ipd file to put onto my blackberry. I have some data on each of the backup files that I need to be combined with each other. Ive tried using ABC Amber Blackberry but had no luck.
I have a problem with photos and videos that are on my memory card but I can't find them anywhere, not in the gallery nor in the files yet if I try to save something with the same name it asks if I want to overwrite. The only way I can take a pic and be able to find it is if I open the camera from inside the gallery by picture folders and take it then it shows in the gallery, all other pics and vids I take I can't find?
Many of you using DNG have noticed like me that the DNGs are missing the GPS encoding that the 5MP JPG has. This workaround makes use of the ExifTool by Phil Harvey and Microsoft's Powershell to quickly tag DNGs using the JPGs uploaded to your OneDrive Camera Roll (accessed via local folder path).
The following is the ps1 script that you run from the same directory where you save the ExifTool. Don't forget to remove the (-k) tag from the filename of the ExifTool.exe it has by default.
#Set the varibles below leaving the apostrophes #Set the $CameraRoll to the file folder path to your OneDrive Camera Roll Path $CameraRollPath = 'D:SkyDrivePicturesCamera Roll'
Since I got my Xperia ray mobile phone in October 2011 I have been using the MTP mode with Media Go with no problems! Automatically backing up photos and syncing new music, brilliant! I came back from holiday two weeks ago with new photos taken with my phone camera so I connected it to my computer to import them. I was shocked to see that Media Go didn't start to automatically import the photos like it normally would and that it thought there was no pictures on the memory card, videos or even music! Empty?
Curiously it showed there was still 4.55GB of used space (I remembered this was roughly how much space I have used with pictures and videos and music), I decided to explore the folders using windows explorer (still in MTP mode) and again to my horrer the pictures, video and music folders appear empty! I even checked hidden file options but this did not work. On the mobile itself I could still see the files so I knew they had not been deleted. I then tried the MSC mode to connect my phone to my computer and this worked, the files Media Go had thought missing were all where they should be, however Media Go and all my files are no longer synced with my computer.
When I updated my 4s to the IOS 5.1 the back up did not work. I had to restore since my phone was going wack and now the back up is saying it wont work and it will not let me sync. Is there any way I can get my backup files, I can not afford to lose them. Do they save somewhere on the computer? I am just so mad that I lost all my photos and memos and all that good stuff.
I switched phones a while ago and updated to iOS 5. When I got my new phone, iTunes correctly treated it like a new device. I have lots of pictures in a device backup file in iTunes (or do I?). (Location of device backups: Preferences > Devices) I can see the old device backups I did before updating to iOS 5 last October. Is there a way, without "wacking" my iPhone and restoring it to an older version, to get the pictures out of those device backups?
Im trying to recover my text messages from a previous back up. I want to view them on my computer. Ive tried going into the backup files but none of the files have an extension on them so i dont seem to be able to open them.

I've lost my phone & I need to access/read my last backup file. I've read .ipd file will need to be converted and I will need to download converter, i.e. Amber Blackberry Converter or Magicberry. Has anyone had any experience with doing this? When I get my new phone and do backup restore, will ALL data be restored, i.e. ALL information under contacts, not just name & phone#?
I am a newbie to the n900. I seem to have lost all my media files. I can see them in file manager but they don't appear on the main media player. Does anyone have a solution or no of a really good media player.
I updated to 7.1 and everything was working. At some point the sound files and enterprise activation have gone missing. The sound files are complete gone and enterprise activation does not appear under Advanced System Settings.
Okay, so I wanted to do a firmware update on my Nokia phone via cable. First problem was that NSU does not support Windows 7 x64 properly in the the sense that it doesnt effin work at all! So, I launch VMWare and I install Windows XP x32 on a virtual machine, but that didnt work too well either. I eventually uninstalled PC suite and Connectivity Driver from my Win7 hoping to make the phone connect to my WinXP virtual machine. It works. I update my phone's firmware. I want to do a recovery of my effin contacts. And the backup file is gone. What kind of software does that? Oh, you want to uninstall PC Suite? Yeah? Well, you will lose all data for that.
It wiped my old calendar entries (even though I have "Keep Forever" selected on the options), but I need all the past calendar items because I used it for keeping track of meetings, events, etc.Short of reinstalling an old backup, copying into Outlook, and then re-installing my current version, is there any other way of getting that info out of the backup file and into Outlook. I really don't want to install a previous version of the backup onto my phone because when I do, it never carries over many of the phone ringing settings, etc. and it takes me forever to get things back to normal.(I am running an older version of the device software on my phone (5.0.0.714) because I can't stand the new version's calendar view.)
For the past two days my XPERIA Z2 has been constantly shutting down after just a minute or two of using the device. The message displayed says something along the lines of 'phone is about to shut down due to high temperature'.. I am aware that I will have to update my software, but before I do that I need to transfer precious data from my phone to my computer, which I cannot seem to do as the device shuts down the immediate moment the PC Companion recognizes it. I am losing my mind, I really don't want to lose my data, mostly my pictures, i.e personal memories.
How to solve this, i.e backup files before updating the software? There must be some way since the device DOES turn on, it just doesn't stay that way for a long time...
my hard drive recently failed on my laptop , i used some software recovery tools to get the files back , meanwhile i also got a new i phone and want to use my old backup files on my new i phone .
on the files i recovered i went to the location mobilesync>backup>(the really long folder name) and in there are loads of other really long file names , but the problem is they do not say .mddata or .mdinfo , so when i go to transfer the files from the data recovery program to the correct folder on my new hard drive it jus says 2 files have the same name and to skip or rename them ,
if anyone can understand this do they know of any solutions or different software to recover the files with the .mddata and .mdinfo still there ?
My husband's iPhone backup folders contain files with just snippets of text in them. They don't look like the backup files from websites that he's been to on his phone, but do look like my backup files from iMessages. He insists they are not backups of imessage or other text messages.
I wanted to backup my phone last night, it has several irreplaceable pictures and videos and today the phone seems to be dead. Last night, it was working fine, I closed any apps I had running, set the alarm and locked the phone. I wake up late today to find that my phone isn't working, I try unlocking it, taking the battery out, charging it. Nothing. I can't get it to turn on. Any way I can back up the files that are on there. Presuming it's not the drive in the phone that is dead, the files are still there and can be recovered, but I doubt Nokia support would go to that effort and they'd probably just give me a new phone. I want those files more than I want the phone.
I have a CURVE 8520.The device is wiped and I lost all my data. I have installed BB Protect but there are no backup files, how can I find the old backup files from this software BB Protect.
In the process of preparing my Xoom for its return to Motorola for an LTE upgrade, I attempted to backup up "Internal Storage" to two different Windows XP machines. Despite numerous hard resets of the Xoom and numerous restarts of the XP machines, I had numerous problems in successfully copying all files. Despite selecting all folders, less than half would transfer during copy/paste. At least one file name in the "Android" folder was too long for Windows XP, but I didn't have time to find it(them). Moreover, 14gb of files disappeared from my external SD card, as did several folders from the internal SD card. I am an above-average computer user, and have never had this kind of trouble
I'm completely new to Nokia. I have 2 nokia e71 for me and my wife. I had trouble starting the ovi store so decided to reinstall it. Later it wouldn't start at all. Going through both phones, I realized that I was Missing 11 files in the installations folder. The phone works except for the ovi store but I don't want to run into problems later because of missing files. They are Nokia Ovi Provisioner, Open C Glibrary, Open C libssl, Symbian os pipes, Symbian os pips, Symbian os stdioser, Open C libssl common, pips installer, ovi Store Launcher and ovi store client. How do I reinstall all this stuff? Where do I find it?
I have downloaded Java games from the internet and installed it to my phone W395, last week all the java games are gone and I couldn't start any application. It says could not start application, files missing.
