BB Torch :: 9800 / 9860 - Sound Will Not Go Through Earphones
Feb 23, 2012
I had a Blackberry Torch 9800 at&t version and after a while, the sound just would no longer go through the earphones and would only come out the external speaker, I figured the problem was hardware failure so I upgraded to Blackberry Torch 9860.....and now the new 9860 that I have had for barely a month is doing the same thing.
Two consecutive phones doing exactly the same thing makes me think the problem is not hardware but rather software related......is there some setting in the phone somewhere that controls where the sound comes out? I want to be able use my earphones so I don't disturb everyone else at work.
I wanted to change the old 9800 to the new 9860 so I did the procedure of device switch. Everything went ok but the email account. the new device can't contact the server. I have been trying for several times with no success.
Since this morning my Blackberry's speaker hasn't been working, I get no message alerts, no alarm, no music, the camera shutter isn't even going off. However everything is fine when I put headphones in and I can also make phonecalls without speakerphone.
I restored my files from my 9800 to 9860 each time I turn of the phone majority of the sms messages just disappear, leaving just a few like 11 out of 2000 but when I use my torch 9800 the messages are always there. Is anyone having same problems. I have to do a restore from my backed up file to get my sms messages back.
I got a BB torch 9860 a couple of days ago . After sometime I start working on the phone, the phone gets stuck and the sound doesnt work. Everything else is normally working.
After sometime I use the phone for calling. the phone gets stuck. its gets back again so that i can work on it normally but the sound is not working. please tell me what I should do.
i have been using Torch 9860 since about a month, am facing a problem since last 20 days. the problem is the sound suddenly goes off. everything else is functional , its just that i cant hear ring tones , cant hear the person talking on other side, if dialed. Every thing goes fine when i open the backcase, take the battery out and restart. This keeps occurring more than 5 times a day.
I selected silent from Sound and Alerts when I was in cofernce, now when touch on Sound and Alerts, It doesn't open, i tried to get into setup and try to open it, it doesn't open, my fone in silent mode.
Strangeness.I have great sound from iTunes, but no sound from any other app, and no ringer from my phone. I have tried drying out the earphone socket with a hairdryer, and plugging/unplugging while listening to an iTunes song - all to no avail. I have checked al my settings, and all I can find are set to make sounds heard. Now I am flummoxed.
I assume since I can't find it, there's no way to turn the feature OFF? I find it highly annoying to make noises when there's really no shutter action. I searched and couldn't find anything on the topic.
The problem I am having is I cannot hear the caller. The caller can hear me. I have to either use an ear piece and microphone or put the phone on speaker. I have had this phone for almost two years. This is a recent problem. I have removed the battery for a full ten minutes and reinstalled. I have performed the update and have the latest versions: Desktop software version 7.1.0.32 release date July 11, 2012 bundle 33. Phone software is 6.0, Bundle 695.
There is a wierd "digital" sound while talking.I can hear the person Im talikng to fine and they can hear me perfect.other posters on diffrent fourms are reporting the same problem.
I've had my bb torch 9800 for about 6m but today I have no sound its as if its on silent (it ain't). I've checked my profile settings everything is on loud! I can't play my music either when I click on a song I just get a exclamation mark!
For some strange reason, when I listened to a podcast using the Music app through the Apple earphones with remote on my iPhone 4, the right side has no sound. However, when I pull the earphone plug out one notch, I get sound from both sides, but the remote controls no longer work. At that point, I was sure I had a hardware problem, but where it lay-- earphones or iPhone 4, I didn't know.
1. For my first step, I tried the earphones with another iPhone 4, and got the exact same results. That convinced me that it was a problem with the earphones, but then I tried them on our iPad and they worked fine!
2. That ruled out the earphones and got me wondering if both iPhone 4's earphone jacks were flakey or misbehaving.I had read about the old fuzz in the jack problem, so I used an air blower to clean it out, but it made no difference. I still figured that maybe both jacks were stressed in some way, although two of them?
3. Then I read that some people found different apps worked--and even specifically that running Skype could solve things. That didn't work. However, it led me to try various streaming apps (e.g., Portal to the Universe, NPR) and everything was fine-- sound from both sides and remote controls fully functional.
At that point, I was convinced there was something odd going on with the Music app.
4. Finally, it occurred to me to try other podcasts-- and even other episodes of the particular podcast. They all worked fine.
Info:iPhone 4, iOS 5.1, Only 1 on Earth w/o music on iPhone
I'm going through the options on my torch and cant seem to find one to enable a clicking sound when typing on the touchscreen (such as the droids and iphones make the clicky noise when your type) ...does it exist?
As an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.
i bought a new torch 9860 with OS7. when i try to open any flash video from facebook, it doesn;t open and says my phone doesnot support this. on adobe site, there is no flash player available for blackberry os7.
I have already installed the new Desktop Manager 6.0 that I downloaded from the RIM site.
I am thinking the safest way to not have a problem is the just restore my 9800 data from a back up rather than do the Switch Device thing. Anyone worried it might bring erroneous crap into the new 6.0 OS.
Maybe it would be better to redo my settings after the data install to make sure all is clean and working correctly. Some of the 5.0 setting would not be applicable to the new 6.0 software.
i have only had this phone four days and it has all of a suddend started switching itself of then reboting itself then flash and vibrate of 2mins then turning it self off again, it has done this constantly for 2 hours now.
Just purchased my new blackberry torch last June and I have been sending it to service center for 5 times already. I am so lost on how to fix the problem. My problem is my phone shows full signal strength and I can't receive not make calls nor messages. I tried to call the service provider for any network problems and they said no problems at all. It happens at ant time of the day. Service center says there no problem on the phone. I just notice that whenever I put the rubber casing on my phone problem occurs. Is there any connection? Im using the rubber casing for easy grip.Signal: -77dbmOS: 7.1.0
