BB Storm 9500 :: Can One Update Directly Through Phone?

I seriously believe that there is a problem with my storm getting updated through my laptop. Since the phone is connected to the net, is it possible to update directly instead of via the laptop?
Can someone please explaine to me how i can update my storm 9530?does my phone lock if i update to last version of software (please be sure when you answer me on this question) ? how do i know does my storm now running on leaked or official software? because i think that my full qwerty looks little bit different than others?And last questions is those it metter on which software (leaked or official) is my storm unlocked? (because if he is unlocked on leaked version does he lock if i update to official version?)
I have the Storm 2 9550 with Verizon.Since the latest update (v5.0.0.607), my phone freezes constantly to the point where the phone is really unusable. I spend a lot of time looking at the mini clock spinning in the middle of the screen, while I try desperately to kill my phone.I did not have this problem at all before the update.
A few days ago I performed the recent update to my 9530 Storm. Things work a lot smoother and faster, which is great, however I notice my Music icon has disappeared since then. And not just gone, but COMPLETELY gone! I have no desktop icon for music, nor is it located under my Media icon. Actually, it is not located anywhere under any folder in the entire device. I know that my music is still somewhere in there, however, as I can access them (begrudgingly) by doing the following: Media --> *Blackberry button* --> Explore --> Media Card --> Blackberry --> Music And there they are! So, my question is this: HOW do I get the shortcut to appear on my main page, as well as under the Media icon, again?
i'm having problems updating my device i've tried using the desktop mangager way but half way through it pops up with an error message saying ' an error has occured while downloading software for your device, please verify your internet connection or try again later, if this problem persisits' i've tried about 10 times now over a three day period and the same things happens everytime.
i'm currently runnung with 4.7.0.1818 but can update to the 5.0 version. i've also tried updating wirelessly but when i check for updates it pops up and says 'unable to send request for available updates'.
What does the OS 5.0.0.607 upgrade contain that the previous OS did not? I keep hearing that "607 is such a great OS", but no one has said why. Someone please detail all the things it changed from the previous OS. So far... I only see the destroyed apps I have now, and the one cool thing, the letter popping up above what is being pressed...
My friend is over my house and he has a Storm 1. He's in from out of town. I was showing my Storm 2 to him and he was complaining how his Storm 1 is so slow. I asked him if he ever updated his software and he said no. I checked it on the device under "about" and it is the old software. Can we preform and over the air update to get him current?
can anyone help me pls!i am trying to update my storm 1 from 4.7.0.181 to 5...425,but i can`t!it says that "no software update is required for your device"!
yesterday i set my storm on the dock to my computer, started up dm. an update on my core applications 5.0 was available so i proceeded with the update. now all of those pushed icons for bing, my verizon, Internet, etc. keep popping up without a reboot! anyone else come across this?before the update i would remove these icons in my service books and they wouldn't pop up until after a reboot. since this latest update the icons pop up every half hour or so. very annoying to say in the least!
i apologize, i know this has been discussed already but this is getting so ridiculous! verizon keeps telling me "there's nothing they can do".is there a way to go back and "un-do" this update? i know we can't permanently delete these pushed icons, only hide them.
I have a storm running on tmobile. I found a fix to always get an EDGE and did it. it worked the first time and was fine for a few months but then it stopped working so I did it again. When I did my phone stopped having any data service. There are no entries in the host routing table..Ive reregistered my device a million times and its not working. Ive been on the phone with tmobile (they are no help) I read all the post about this but nothing has fixed it.
I own a 9500 storm with firmware V4.7.0.83 (Platform 4.0.0.105) vodafone and i m sure everyone knows that this storm is extremely laggy... i have downloaded this :
Device Software release 5.0.0.742 / Platform 4.2.0.198 / OS 5.0.0.451 Vodafone Australia & Fiji and installed on my laptop, and i m using desktop manager V4.6, but when i connect my bb, it doesn't give me the option to update this firmware... so may i ask what when wrong? can someone help me on this? another question is since my unit is already unlocked, if i update this firmware, will it affect my unlocked feature?
I tired to update my blackberry but then it said the device could not be recognised so i then took out the usb and now it just won't turn on but it just flashes red
How do I update my software directly on my phone? I have version 4.3 and I am finding that it is not updated enough for many applications. I have gone to Blackberry.com on my phone and followed the prompts to update directly on my phone. However, it tells me to go to "Options", "Advanced Options" and then "Wireless Upgrade." I don't have the "Wireless Upgrade." What do I do?
I purchased a new Storm 2 from a Verizon subscriber.He indicated that the phone is unlocked however after putting my t-mobile sim card and trying to make a call.I receive the message that the phone cannot be authenticated.Does this mean it is still locked?T-mobile says they cannot unlock the phone.What is the best method for getting the phone unlocked?
I'm from Belgium and like the Storm2 9550 very much. Now it is not (yet) for sale in Belgium or in the closest neighboring countries. Because I'll be in the States in 3 weeks i was thinking about buying the phone there without a SIM. Will I have any issues when I'll be back in Belgium, charger is not an issue? Will the phone ever be available in Belgium?
i tried to use my bluetooth to share videos and music from others but the device cant recognize it even if the phone is also a blackberry still it cant recognize my phone what will i do?
Trying to make the hole for the loops to go through, I tried drilling through the battery cover but that just scratched it a little. Should I use a different drill or has anyone succeeded with a different method?
I'm leaving a company that said I can keep my phone (S1), but they want the number. I don't have a personal account w/Verizon yet. How can this be done? I don't know if they are planning to use the # right away, but it's associated with them.
My phones battery has tanked, ever since I updated my OS to the new 5.0 OS. I took it to the store and they are now gonna send me a replacement phone. Will it be a Storm 2 that arrives in the mail?
All of my contacts have been deleted by my phone. I know it sounds nuts. I did not do anything to delete anything that I am aware of. I don't go into those things for fear of doing that. It started last week when my phone was not showing my contact name with the phone number when someone would call me. I went to go and pull up a number today and my entire contact book was empty.I have already tried the following:
-Battery pull, waited for 15 secs.
-Checked my address book filters-both boxes are unchecked
Why is this stupid phone constantly switching off by itself? The other night it could not stay on for 5 min, every time I try to write a message the freaken thing reboots.Tonight again, busy typing a message, it switched off, rebooted and restarted.When all sort (well so I thought) I try to carry on with my message that was mostly wiped off, just as I started typing again, boooooommmmm we go again.Is there no setting or something? Why does it keep doing it.
I recently bought a new strom 9500 from a friend at work, it came with all the trimmings (box, cables, charger etc) and was purportedly used by my friend (who bought it new) before I bought it.When I put a new sim into it (vodaphone contract sim) it reads invalid sim , it shows a box saying "do you want to enter the sim card pin?" with a yes or no option to click, i click yes i want to enter the code, but it won't give me an opportunity to enter a code!Please help i love the phone but cannot use it and i worry that it is blocked!
I have a dumb question.i just got home with my new storm 9520.when i play a music i hear sound from only 1 speaker of phone that is under the phone. ( the place from we speak while on call)is it suppose to be this way?.i thought there must be 2 speakers for sterio sound one on top from where we hear a call and one at bottom from where we speak on call.
I have an unlocked storm and use tmobile as my carrier. Two weeks ago I found that my browser icon had disappeared. I stopped recieving emails and no messages from blackberry messenger. I called Tmobile and they referred me to RIM. When talking to the folks at RIM they say its a Tmobile issue.Host routing table has no entries and no browser or email service books.
I have had a Blackberry Storm for about 2 months. I have found that when making a call, the phone regularly cuts out. Has anyone else experienced this?
I uploaded a .wmv video file and tried to watch it on BB Storm 1. I only got the sound to play, but no video. Is there a way get these types of files to play onto my phone?
