BB Software :: 9700 - Fatal Error When Downloading OS 6?
Mar 16, 2011
I have a Bold 9700 which is in perfect working order. I have been trying for hours to successfully download OS 6, but every time I try, I get the same message: 'Fatal Error'. I've tried everything - uninstalling, reinstalling, deleting apps, etc. I can't get anything to work! It seems to start experiencing problems when it's finishing the 'JVM' stage (whatever that is).
I kept getting this error message when attempted to download software update for my Blackberry Bold 9700 via Blackberry Desktop Manager V5.01."An error has occured while downloading software for your device. Please verify your internet connection or try again later, if the problem persists."
My laptop was definitely connected to the internet because I was browsing while trying to update. The Desktop Manager itself recognises that it is connected to the internet, because it scanned for updates for itself on the internet and updated succefully. But when it came to downloading updates for my blackberry handset. It became oblivion to the fact that it was connected to the internet and kept giving me this senseless error report!
While trying to upgrade software, the message "A fatal error has occurred while upgrading your device's software. Please try again." Then the phone switches off.
The phone is not synchronizing with any of the desktop applications - Microsoft outlook, calendar, task, memo.
During my first update using desktop manager there were 13 steps to be completed, and I had to disconnect half way through.
Now when I try to repeat the process, the update gets through steps 1-6 and right after reconnecting to JVM (step 6) I get a "Fatal error updating device software, please try again" I have tried multiple times and it always stops in the same place. The phone then has the radio turned off and I have to reestablish connections.
I got a new Curve 8520 today, after my last one (same model) gave me issues. Everything goes fine except for the media card which is unaccesible for fatal errors. I HAVE tried the following: Formatting the card, Repairing the card, formatting the card via PC (the pc reads it fine), connecting via desktop manager, restoring backups, removing and replacing card and battery. On my last phone the card gave me no errors at all.
I have a Curve 8530 new running 5.0.1 and I can not get it to sync or update using the desk manager. My updates are piling up and I can't get access. During the sync (6 of 12) I get a crash and no error message number; just: 'Fatal error occurred with JVM'. Reboots don't work. I'm running Windows 7 Pro.
My Blackberry Bold keeps sending me a message saying my media card has failed because it has a fatal error. I have lost my photos and music. What do I do to repair?
Alright, a friend of mine gave me a Blackberry Bold 9700 after unlocking it, which is awesome. What's not so awesome is that when I first turned it on, it informed me that the media card could not be accessed due to a fatal error. So I checked the card, made sure it was properly inserted, then went to the options menu and tried to format and repair the card, both of which failed. So I tried pulling the battery and that didn't work, either. Unfortunately, I don't have a card reader to actually check this out on my PC.I saw that there were other posts on here from people with similar issues, but I couldn't find a clear answer as to what works to resolve this.
I jailbroke Iphone 3g 3.1.3 with spritjb when I start mywi it tries to install the apple mobile device ethernet on my laptop but gives error (An error occurred during the installation of the device fatal error during installation) Cannot install this hardware.
I have COMPLETELY uninstalled ALL APPLE SOFTWARE from my windows xp SP3 laptop. Then reinstalled with the latest version of itunes today. Still same error.
I have had this problem for a few days. I have tried everything on the blackberry like remove, reinsert, battery pull, options--->memory--->format and repair to no avail. I plug the card into the reader and get nothing on both mac and windows.

I bought DynoStorm and installed it on my Storm2 (9550) running OS v5.0.0.713. The app installed and all the permissions are set to "allow" except for "security timer reset" which is set to "deny" and locked out by our company's security policies (BES).The app launches but when I go to make changes to the settings, I get:
Fatal error saving log data : net.rim.device.api.io.file.FileIOException: Media Card is secured by another device. Unable to access encrypted file. <OK>
Due to our company policies, my device memory is encrypted though my media card is not. I also tried inserting a different 16GB MicroSD card and having the OS format the card. I still get the same error.
Ive recently bought a SanDisk 32gb MicroSDHC card class 4. When I inserted the card into my phone I get the above message? I've tried to format the card and get the following message 'media card format failed'. I've tried rebooting phone etc with no results is it worth exchanging the card or shall I just throw the phone in the bin and buy an IPhone?
my blackberry torch froze then this message came up media card storage cannot be accessed due to fatal error. I have tried repairing it and reformatting it
Tried to format it on pc/bb bt didnt work. When i load it into the pc via the memory reader the files show up as read only. I double checked to be sure the adaptor wasn't locked and even tried with another memory card and it was fine with the other card.My 8gb card is new and i formatted it as i put it in my bb. I media sync'd with desktop software and when i disconnected I got the error.
I just got a Transcend 16gb class 6 Micro SDHC yesterday. Everything went well until I put it in my Torch 9800and formatted it like it requested. Afterwards I received the media card fatal error. Here's where it getrs strange: I assumed the card had corrupted, but upon using the adapter to access it on the computer, it worked fine there. Tried reformatting from the comp, still works on the comp., but upon insertion in the phone, fatal error. I tried puting it in my old 8520, works like a charm, no issues. Tried reformatting using the 8520, still a fatal error when inserted into the Torch. My old card that I was using was a Transcend 8gb Class 6, Which still functions with no probs.
I have made 3 attempts to update the device software on my Blackberry and every time I get an error message part way through the update then my Blackberry turns itself off and reboots. Error message: A fatal error has occurred while updating your device's software. Please try again. This happens at the same point every time - task 6 of 12 - reconnecting jvm.
I am unable to update ver 5 to ver 6, as the process stops with an error message "an error has occurred while downloading software for your device. Please verify your internet connection or try again later, if the problem persists." Typically I get 70 to 80% of the way through the modules before this error message pops up. Today's attempts all bailed at 511 of 650 modules. I have tried this process twice over the last month, and have had the same error. The internet connection is working well ie I can surf the net and receive/send emails. Where do I go from here?
I have a new 10 day old blackberry curve 8530. Today it said "media card cannot be accesed due to fatal error" ive tried everything. taking the battery and card out. reformatting it, repair. but it says it cannot be accesed due to fatal error still. It also said the same thing while the card wasnt even IN the phone! the card itself works on the computer and a different phone but not the blackberry. Could it be the phone itself is broken?
As I am about to download the app of my choice on App World, this message appears:"App World Web Plugin Error---- An error has occurred communicating with the Blackberry App World Client. If you have content protection enabled on your device, please disable and try again."My BB Curve 9300 is properly connected to my PC via a USB Cable and I have done this downloading process many times before, but now I can't seem to download anymore because of this bothering problem.
