I have 2 .gif files that I want to set as autotext. I've followed several methods on how to do this, but instead of the image coming up, I get the filename.gif inserted instead. I have a Storm 9530, OS5.
View 2 RepliesI was reading through BlackBerry 101 about using AutoText and had a couple questions about using it on my new BB:
1. Can Autotext be used in E-mail, MMS, and BBM messages also? The example given was used to make a signature in a SMS message. I tried sending a e-mail to my computer from my phone to my computer at home and it didn't work. I did set it up in Autotext to replace appt with appointment.
2. Can I use Autotext to make a macro. Example is when I type appt, can I get it to be replaced with something like "I wanted to let you know that I have an appointment with...."?
Can't disable this for email, just sms, etc.how it's annoying is when i try to abbreviate something like "MN" for Minnesota; i'll type MN and it'll change it to MINUTE. quite annoying. i know i can hit del after and it'll get rid of it, but it's not as smooth as it sounds, and seems to keep a space after, or input a period, or something unnatural.it seems to me the only way to disable this is to physically delete the entry in the autotext entries, but that is rather permanent, Why they don't make a disable autotext option for email but for everything else is beyond me.any suggestions for me?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI wish there was an easy way for me to portray the amount of disdain I have for my Storm at this time, however, that won't do me any good!I'm just looking to get some insight to my problem and whether or not it can be resolved! It would be really unfortunate if I had to replace my lump of a phone as I am a college student that just moved away from home and am in the middle of my two-year contract.My phone is still in operating order minus the faulty touchscreen, it still receives messages, emails, and even phone calls. All the side buttons work, in short, the screen is just dead.I did not drop it nor spill any liquids on it and I've performed a plethora of battery pulls. I'm at a loss!Let me describe the events that occurred before (seemingly) death of my touchscreen. I was at a friends house preparing for a 9/11 5k race when I noticed my battery was running low so I left it in a safe place to quietly run out of steam because I had no need to carry a phone during a race. At this point it was still fully functional. After the race, I check my phone to see if it was out of power yet which it was. I get home later that night and charge it only to rudely surprised by an inoperable screen. I cleaned the screen and did a few battery pulls afterwards in hopes it was only a minor problem to no avail.

I was also in a moderate car crash the day prior so perhaps that may have caused some problems? Externally, my phone is in mint condition. I suppose this just hasn't been my week!
According to bbleaks, it sounds as though there insinuating that an OS leak for Storm 9500/9530 will be coming within the next week or so. If its true then sweet! Can't wait!
sent an off market file to my phone via bluetooth which did not install because i had not unchecked the 'install off market' applications.after that i now cant find the files location to install it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought two second hand blackberry storm 9530 off ebay.Im am south african and the original carriers of these phones were verizon.The phones are unlocked. I have confirmed this via the mepd command ect.When i purchased these phones they worked 100% for about two months.My BIS and emails were coming through in basically minutes.Suddenly the BIS service disappeared and both phones are basically useless.
Ive tried wiping the phones,new OS's,takin out battery,host route table and register now.My carrier (vodacom) is positive that the fault is on my side and not theres.I went so far as doing a software wipe that removed th it policys and re installed the OS after that.Subsequent to that i even download and app that wiped the phone so hard it rebooted with a 507 error and i the re installed the os again.Im struggling to understand how my phones worked for a few months and are now useless.I have regained my BIS at times for about a week but it disappears again after a wile of if i try download 3rd party apps.
When i do ask for the service books to be re sent that never make it to the phone or if they do it is delayed by days and i loose service a few days subseqent to that.I bought a 9700 for my brother off ebay and he has had no issues at all.At the moment my phone is running and can call and sms......I have version 5.0.0.328 on the handheld. and the 3G logo is displayed but no little logo appears near the 3G logo.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble getting my 9530 to connect to my computer via USB. When I plug it in there is a screen that is normally constant which shows two icons of the BB and the PC connecting. It flashes several times then goes away.The desktop software picks up the BB but doesn't really recognize it. I can perform a backup of the device but I can't use media sync, it says that mass storage needs to be turned on on the device. It is already turned on.I have attempted to use the BB on two completely different PC's with the same results. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the desktop software to no avail and of course performed power cycles on the PC's and BB itself all to no avail.
