BB Pearl 8100 :: Manage Internet Mail Icon Does Not Appear?
Jan 12, 2010
FIRST QUESTION: I got an unlocked T-Mobile Pearl 8220 and am running on my company AT&T plan. The phone is great except I can't setup internet mail (Yahoo in my case). My company phone support guys have reloaded the phone software but still no icon and they have given up. I have the AT&T data service plan. The icon is definitely not hidden, it is just not there. I saw some posts about MMS and email not working together, and MMS and all other functions works fine. Is there another way to set up Internet mail without using the phone and the Manage Internet Mail icon?SECOND QUESTION: If I can't get this to work, is there a 3rd party internet mail download that anyone can recommend?
I have a Blackberry Pearl Flip 8230 by Verizon, and had to delete & resend my service books. Since then, my Yahoo! mail icon has been replaced with a generic Blackberry email icon. Based on suggestions I have seen online, I have tried removing and reinserting the battery, as well as deleting and re-adding the email account in the BIS website. Neither of these worked.
I got this phone yesturday, and when I did the set up, when it got to the e-mail part the only option I got was "I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise server" or "I want to skip e-mail setup"
I do not have a work e-mail account, and from what I've seen in order to get facebook or any other applications, I am going to need my e-mail to connect to the phone?
I have a bb pearl 8110 w/gps support. when i connect the BB to my computer, on the BBDS, appear the GPS app installed, but there's no icon on the menu. info: BB Pearl 8110, OS 4.5.0.182 original from AT&T, but is unlocked
In 2009 my husband bought me a brand new Blackberry Pearl 8100 from the internet (he can't remember exactly where from). I put my existing O2 sim in it, expecting to be able to access the internet/emails, but neither were available to me. A quick call to O2 cleared that one up - my sim was Pay & Go and at that time, O2 were not doing Blackberry web & email on Pay & Go. I used it as a phone for a bit, got peeved (wanted internet and emails!) and bought a Samsung Tocco lite which I have been using up until last week when I found out that, since last July, O2 were now doing Blackberry internet on Pay & Go. So, I excitedly purchase a bolt on from O2, shove my sim in my lovely Blackberry Pearl, get excited when I see the new icons for Facebook and Google etc... and then I realise that there is no browser option. No globe icon, nothing. The only way I can see a browser icon is if I press the menu key and select 'Switch Application'. The 'phone then says 'requesting', then offers me an option to sign up for Yahoo Messenger. If I hit the 'back' button, the screen goes blank. If I accept 'download', I get: 'Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Yahoo'.
I have set up my emails and they work fine. If I click on links in emails, I just get a blank screen.
I have spoken to O2 who have said that 'everything is fine their end' and there is no reason why I can't find a browser icon. They told me to check out the latest Blackberry download so my 'phone is updated. So, I have installed what I believe to be the latest version but that has had no effect whatsoever.
A battery pull (well, about a hundred of them actually..) has also had no effect).
I am currently in Canada, Toronto on a business trip but I live in TN and i have never had a problem with my sms until I got here. I have lost my SMS icon and is not able to receive my msg and when i go in to view folder and try to pull up sms inbox I get this message-Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException. I don't know what that means.
I keep getting a little blue bell icon with 2 red curved lines up at the top right corner of my screen. I do not have any alarms or alerts set. What is this and how do I get rid of it? (permanently would be nice).
Basically, i found a BlackBerry Pearl 8100 O2 on the street yesterday. I know this might upset some people, but im going to keep it. Because i need a new phone! Now how should i go on about this? will it work with just inserting my SIM ?
Can anyone tell me if the Blackberry Desktop 6.0 properly supports synchronization between Outlook 2010 32-bit and a Pearl 8100 with device software v4.5.0.102 (Platform 2.7.0.85)?I first did a one-way sync from Outlook to my device (replacing all device data). That worked fine. However, using Calendar as an example, the next sync tried to delete all calendar entries from some point in 2009 and prior. It also identified changes to entries that were not changed at all!Sync'ing Task, Memos and Contacts yielded the same problem where items were identified as being changed when they were not. When trying different sequences of synchronization including doing a reset on my Pearl before resync'ing, I get different and inconsistent results. The Blackberry site says I have the latest version of device software, so...
I recently took part in a Digital Connections project whereby I downloaded an app to monitor phone usage through a market research site, when I did this I had to change some internet options in order to allow it certain access.Since then however internet browsing doesn't work, I get a message which says 'Unable to connect to the Internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider'.Are there default settings out there that I can mimic to allow access again? Even with removing the app my settings are obviously what I changed them to but I neglected to keep a record of what they were originally. I believe its connected to the advanced options/browser push settings where there are several options to allow all/deny all/auto and allow specific. Is there any way other than restoring defaults to change them so they are correct? Or if someone has the same phone would they be able to post what their options currently are so I can mimic them to see if they work? All other functions still work as in email/bbm.
The web browser is not working on my Pearl.I am with O2 and have been in the O2 shop for an hour today and on the phone to various people at customer services and still no joy on my Blackberry problem. The internet browser is not working. My e-mail has been set up and i can receive mails only, but not send them. The error code: YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY BROWSER CONFIGURATION SERVICE BOOK ENTRIES, or when I try and send an e-mail, NO MESSAGE SERVICE CONFIGURATION appears, despite re-sending service book codes, plus also turning my phone off, and taking the battery off several times whilst in the O2 shop and then at home when on the phone to customer services. The people at my network are stumped, and so am I!Please, any solutions?
I am new to the forum and have just bought my very first Blackberry, its the 8120 pearl on the Orange uk network. I've had the phone for a week now and just cant get on the internet, when i try to access, say Yahoo, this message come up "This is a Wi-Fi service. Please ensure your device has an active Wi-Fi connection and try again". My question is is this phone Wi-Fi only or can i connect thru the old way like i used to do on the Nokia's?
I want to find the Manage Internet Email icon that is in the setup menu, This icon is no there. I all ready use the function of "show all icon" and still is no there. What i can do? I have blackberry 8900 with ATT carrier, dont have blackberry plan, only have unlimited data plan.
I have a yellow phone icon with an arrow pointing right on my homescreen. The icon does not appear as a notification. I would like to get rid of this. This is my homescreen, the icon is in the top-left corner
I just got my hands on an old Blackberry 8100 (OS4.2.1.96)Sadly, I'm almost certain that this phone won't be able to run 5, but while I was in high school this was my favorite phone and I recently just received one..for free. The phone's trackball doesnt work(clicking the trackball scrolls up), and the volume up doesn't work either. I'm not really going to use the phone as cellular device, but I would rather just have it on my desk as a souvenir...in working condition as a backup. So I've decided to buy a new housing for it, probably fixing the trackball problem, and then this is where I'm not sure. Would the new housing fix the volume bar problem also? Or would I have to actual replace parts on the phone?
I am having a problem to upgrade the device software of my daughter Pearl 8100 from v4.2 to 4.5. The BB update web site does not recognize that is a new version of the device software available.
Hi all, I'm new here and just got the pearl 8110. Maybe a very stupid question, but on my main screen I have an icon that tells me that I have a new message (sms). But I have no idea how to open it. If I go in the menu i see nothing like 'inbox or messages', really strange. Can anyone explain it to me pls?
I read on one of the help things that I can add German as an Input language for my Pearl 8130 using the application loader, but I can't figure out how to do that in Desktop Manager. I'm using Windows Vista.I type text messages and emails in different languages, but the only three of them that came with the phone were English, French, and Spanish. It rejects the spelling of my German words in emails and facebook posts, etc. I don't want to have to add every German word I know manually.I also would like to be able to use the SureType feature in German, but I can't figure out how to add it.
How do I upgrade my pearl 8100 to os5 so that I can install the whatsapp application. I would to commuincate with other smartphone but when I get the link it is telling me that my os 4.5 is old and I need to get the lastest 4.6 and above to use that feature.
My Blackberry 8100 won't download mms. It will receive it but won't come through completely. I thought it was a signal problem but even with full bars it won't work. I was wondering if there's any way to fix this and also I have the latest software. Ever since I updated it it will not download mms.
I have this BB Pearl 8100 given to me by my cousin.. All this while it was okay until recently something wrong with the scroll ball.. I can scroll down, but I can't scroll up back.
I've recently acquired a blackberry pearl and I'm wondering if there is a way/application to keep the LED light blinking red until I've read the SMS or looked at the missed phone call (instead of timing out after 15 min). I know there is an application like buzzme, however I really don't need all those customizations and was wondering if anyone knew of a free application to just keep the light red until the SMS has been read.
I have a bought a new Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 model recently from a retailer. I have been facing a strange problem for the past two days. Whenever, I try to enable the blue tooth. The phone's Bluetooth does not get enabled. Please help in this regard as this is very annoying because I sync my Outlook and mobile using Bluetooth.
first things first -- a computer whiz I am not!!! I apologize if I come across as a complete **bleep** when it comes to computer jargon but I'm still in the "intermediate at best" phase of my computer knowledge. I have a Blackberry Pearl 8230 with a 4G data card that I can't use, because I cannot connect my blackberry to the computer! It's plugged in with the USB cable, and the device charges, but the Desktop software never recognizes the device. It doesn't say "a new device has been added", and the Desktop software just says "Please connect your device". My husband has a blackberry that seems to connect no problem. I wondered if there were issues connecting 2 devices to the same computer, so I connected my blackberry to my laptop and still no dice.I've taken my BlackBerry to the Telus store, and they have no issues with connections.
They upgraded the software on the BlackBerry for me but it still refuses to connect to the computer. What am I doing wrong? This is a fresh computer with a brand new download of Desktop software (just downloaded the other day).Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm getting rather annoyed at this point.
After a year and a half of working just fine, my Blackberry 8110 will not connect to my PC via USB. I am using Windows XP Pro ver. 2002 SR 3 and Desktop manager Ver 4.3.0.17. The phone does not appear in Windows device manager when connected, desktop mgr reports no connection and cannot detect the device when prompted. After a hard reset the charging icon appears on the phone momentarily when first plugged into the PC then disappears and will not reappear without another reset. I can charge the unit with an AC charger until I plug it into the PC. After that it is unresponsive to the charger until reset. The phone is fully charged. I read a thread about fiddling with the connection at the phone end of the USB cable. I was able to get an intermittent connection using this technique (or at least the charging icon appeared intermittently), but now that does not seem to make any difference. The AC charger connection is completely solid when I move the plug around. I have removed and reinstalled BDM, no change.Several weeks ago I installed a USB driver for an M audio midi interface and had a great deal of difficulty getting that device to work. I don;t recall whether I have synced the phone since then. I am wondering if that created some sort of conflict or if it somehow corrupted the driver. Other obvious causes are the USB port on the phone or problem with the phone OS. I have tried both USB ports on laptop and both immediately recognize a thumb drive. I don't know how to update/reinstall the RIM driver since the phone other than remove and reinstall BDM which I have done. I am reluctant to wipe the phone without some confidence it will resync. Also thought about switching to bluetooth sync but would rather not buy gear if the phone is KO'd.
