BB Curve :: Recovery Of Data Onto New Handset (same Model)
Jan 16, 2012
I've just had my bb 8520 repaired and am looking to restore my contacts from my desktop backup. The file name on my desktop reads "AutoBackup-(2011-12-22).ipd", but when I try to access it through the blackberry software to restore, it is not found. It finds the folder but no contents inside.

I originally had a Curve 8520 but sadly it got stolen. I backed it up before it was stolen and I was just wondering, before I make a new purchase, will I have to buy the curve 8520 in order to restore the data I backed up? Or could I buy a newer curve eg 9300 or even a completely different model eg bold 9780 and still have all my info?

I've got a 3GS which was 3.1.3. I had to restore because a few apps wouldnt load properly. When I restore and it finishes it comes up with the itunes & cable screen and iTunes says its in recovery mode (error 1015) and i must restore it - again.I've tried a couple of things including irecovery but my PC is a win7 64bit system and it kind of killed off all my USB ports. I've tried on a Vista Machine and also tried on iTunes 9.1 and the new Beta.
Will Apple sort it out? Will they send it off or replace it if they cant get it working again? It's only got a few days left on the warranty

My girlfriend's N95 8Gb came to something of a nasty end over the weekend. No screen, no keyboard, camera unit's out, but, with a battery the lights still come on. The question is whether we can recover anything from the internal 8Gb flash memory. Any thoughts as to whether anything's salvageable and/or how to go about it? Has anybody been in the same position and succeeded in recovering any data?

Long time listener, first time caller. If anyone can help, y'all can.Small amount of water entered top of iPhone. Phone kept working, he plugged it in and charged it (car charger) - a few hours later went to take a photo and phone quit working. (After searching, I realize we should not have plugged it in.)
I had him put it in a bag of rice, and kept fingers crossed. No luck yet, but it's only been a day. I suggested leaving it sit and not trying to keep turning it on. I realize it may never come back, but the bigger problem is the texts and phone call history, which really we need to recover. I see from searching that it's not stored on the SIM card. The phone has not been synced or backed up w/iTunes recently. I'd love to have the phone back, but if it stays dead is there any way to recover that text/call data?

So my phone got stuck in the infamous bootloop. I am getting a new one shipped to me. I just don't know of my old one is backed up. I don't even think my contacts are. It has an SD card, but I don't think I ever set up a back up for it. Is there any way to back it up now? Sadly it won't stay on long enough to get passed the AT&T screen.

This morning I left my phone in my bootbag. Came back and noticed there was a small crack not in the cover itself but the actual screen. Now the screen is black, doesn't seem like an liquid has spilt like when a screen breaks (But then what do I know?!).I got a friend to phone it, it still rings.. vibrates, the two lights either side of the button still light up.. does what it usually should. But the screen itself remains black. I plugged it into Kies via USB in the hope I could create a backup and order a new phone. But because it has a keylock on the home screen. I need to unlock that in order for Kies to connect. Is there any other way at all I can remove the sufficient data? E.g. Photo's, Videos.. as there's alot of sentimental things on there. I should really learn to start backing things up. But its always too late to say that.

My friend has been wanting to get an 8350i for a while now. Today he walked into RadioShack and BestBuy and both of these retail stores told him that the Nextel 8350i Blackberry had been discontinued. That they no longer carried them in their stores, but that that he could still find them at Sprint locations. They stated the reason as having too many issues. I'm thinking that the retail stores were getting too many returns and possibly decided to stop selling them ("discontinuing them"). I went to sprint website and they are still selling them.

I broke my phone during flashing a rom, because the rom was faulty (actually my browser crashed during the download and i tried to install half a rom). And the point is I forgot to make a backup and I had moved my previous backups to my pc, because they were so many, and I thought, i'll make anther before flashing but i forgot. No my phone is broken and has no OS. I however can still access recovery mode. MY question is, is it in any way possible to access my phone from my computer during recovery mode.

I have new Nexus 6 with custom Recovery and rotted, stock 5.1 ROM.
I was just setting the phone up for the first time, when I had to reboot. Upon reboot, I was informed that my data was corrupt and I would have to reset my phone.
The factory reset process took around 1 hour. Now, I can't boot into the ROM. I am stuck on the four bouncing around coloured balls.
Accessing the Recovery Mode, shows a Android robot waggling its ears. This remains seemingly permanently. Eventually I press Home and the Volume buttons. This results in a blank screen with only the words "Formatting /data..." appearing on the bottom left of the screen in tiny yellow text, as in the below image:
This last for a long time before the Recovery options eventually appear.
Have I bricked my phone?

My phone is pretty badly physically broken - literally snapped in the middle. Some photos of the damage here...
back - cl.ly/image/3e2I2V3T0h3A
front - cl.ly/image/2g122G360A44
side - cl.ly/image/0R3B3V3Z0p3g
I'd really like to recover some of the data on there that wasn't backed up online and was wondering if I was to remove the main board and transplant it into another Nexus 5 whether this would boot as normal and allow me to access the storage? The board I'm referring to is this one: [URL] ..... (Step 10).
Haven't got much experience changing parts like this around, though I do know the phone is relatively easy to take dismantle. I'm really just hoping to be able to get it live for long enough to save my data to move over to a new phone.

Some of my pictures were deleted so I tried to root and get them back. I tried to root my GS6 (SM-G920F) and now my phone is stuck on "Recovery Is Not Seandroid Enforcing". I used CF auto root and Odin.
I would like to know how to backup data? The pictures and videos are more worth than this phone.. I would like to know how to backup my pictures and videos and restore this to factory settings.

I have a Nexus 5 (Hammerhead) 32gb device, stock with no rooting. I mean, I had never done anything special on it ever.
1. Recently I started getting Google Play Store related problems, first 194 error and then couple of days back 495 (I think). After trying switching on/off, clearing cache and some other similar ways to fix this, I decided to do a factory reset
2. I backed up all my data, and followed the documented steps for factory reset. The phone got stuck on 'erasing'. After waiting for over 24 hours, I finally figured out that this 'erasing' is not going to complete, ever.
3. So I again did some research and figured that I should do a fastboot recovery. Tried that with no difference. Recovery again took me to 'erasing' screen.
4. Some more research and then I decided to flash a factory image using ADB. I was (and still am) a complete newbie, so first I figured out what was ADB and how to get to it. After completing the installation, I found out Nexus 5 factory images. There was no mention of which ones to chose, so I just picked up the latest one.
5. Having learnt my lessons, I read the flashing instructions many times and also watched some videos 3-4 times. Once I was confident that no more information was going to be had, and the phone was unlocked (fastboot oem unlock) I went ahead with the flashing. I did it step by step - bootloader, radio and they recovery image. The last one failed.
6. I did some more research and found a method which told me to unzip the last image and flash the component images one by one. I did. Success! However, the phone did not reboot by itself as the guide said it would. So I tried to boot it manually.
7. I did not get the dead android with red exclamation mark. Instead, I got an alive android with gears whirring on its tummy and back. Pressing power + vol-up button told me that this was the 'formatting /data' screen. I am unable to get past this screen. I am supposed to get to a screen where I can wipe data and cache etc. But I cannot get to it.
8. I have tried to wait it out (16 hours) and tried flashing the images again. Ultimately, I end up here.
9. I am unable to find any answers on what to do if stuck on this screen. So this is the end? Is my phone bricked? Is there anything else I can try? Will trying TWRP way useful or is that just another way to same failure?

I have a Droid Turbo. This morning the screen stopped responding to touch. I took it into the Verizon store and they told me I was covered under the warranty but that I wouldn't be able to recover my data because I have a password on my phone. Is there a way to recover my photos and videos by bypassing the password? Or will I actually lose everything?

We are unable to access a https secure site [URL] using a Blackberry 8500 series model (Curve 8530). Other smartphones including other Blackberry models and all Android and iPhone models access the site fine. The error our client received is:"The server returned the following error: Access Denied: Insecure SSL Request" then if you click Ok it says "Unable to connect using the current security settings. Please contact your service provider". If you click More Info, it brings up this message: "Your MDS has been configured to deny SSL requests to servers that have certificates which are untrusted or expired. Try using Device Side SSL which can be modified in your TLS Options. Contact your system administrator with questions."Our clients don't have access to their MDS which is through their service provider. The SSL certificate has an alt name (Certificate Subject Alt Name) and the SSL is registered under GoDaddy and the subject name has a subdomain (tickets).

We have seen in several blog and posts that there are issues with certain BB models and certs with "subject alt names".

Recently I have been getting a problem with my 9700 Blackberry. When I make or receive calls, I can not hear anything out of my handset. The person on the other line can hear fine (Usually with me going Hello Hello a million times!) The only time I can hear anything is when I have my bluetooth on or switching it to speakerphone.
I tried doing the soft reset (battery pull when the phone was still on) ...still nothing. Although it did work a couple of times. Its on and off, but recently the situation has gone from bad to worse.Anyone out there with the 9700 with the same issue? It's really annoying and I do use the phone a lot for important calls.

I'm sadly and hopelessly addicted to Circle Popper. Recently I had to replace my 8300 handset with another identical 8300. The new one's OS didn't have Circle Popper and I can't find it anywhere, probably because it's so old, simplistic, and outdated, all reasons I like it! Can anyone help me determine how to move it off my old handset onto my new one? Also have a move to the Bold 9700 coming up, so will need to do it again probably.
