BB Curve :: Browser Stuck On "requesting"
Jul 7, 2011
basically, i've got a blackberry curve 9300, been using my house's wifi for a while without trouble, occasionally have to disconnect and reconnect every now and then, but figured it's kind of standard. but yesterday, when i tried going on browser (think it was via the Internet app icon) it said "requesting..." and took ages to fill the requesting bar, and even when the bar was full, nothing seemed to be happening. i've turned off my phone and turned it back on, i've disconnected from the wifi and reconnected but nothing's worked. it seems to be a browser problem, because i can connect to the wordpress application and use that via wifi

I have a Bold 9650 that I am currently running 5.0.0.1006 on and I'm trying to get it to update to OS 6, I am currently away from my computer with the DM on it and my office computer won't let me download the DM. Last night I tried to pull it from the wireless update option and that sat for 6 hours still saying "Requesting available updates..." Am I doing something wrong or how can I update my phone to get up the current OS?

I have a Blackberry Bold 9780. When I click on any of my bookmarks or type in any web address, the loading bar at the bottom of the page goes inch by inch and says "Requesting...." Then when it gets all the way to the end, it just stays there still reading "Requesting..." And the page is blank. I've tried restarting my phone, pulling out the battery and nothing works. The only web address that seems to work is my bookmark to Google Translate. IDK why that one, but it works... I miss my internet!

I am using an ad-supported application called BatteryWatch (1.9.7) and everything used to be fine. Now, however, everytime I open it I get the request "BatteryWatch is requesting changes to its application control permissions." No matter how I change the permissions, this message ALWAYS appears.
The strange thing is that it didn't use to happen before. Since the time that it was working I have updated the application, updated Blackberry App World and I think the company might have moved onto BES/BIS(?).

I have had this phone for 3+ years and about a month ago the browser just stopped working. I mean it requests a URL and looks like it starts to load but then just loops on loading. Everything else (testing, email) all work fine. No page ever loads.

I admin a mail server for a couple of dozen people. One of them has a Blackberry. About every 80 minutes, goes it nuts and creams the server's I/O capacity. To give you an idea of the scale, I have a process that runs daily, scans all the files on the system, and transfers the differences to a backup server. This fellow's Blackberry is an order of magnitude higher IOPS than the backup process. I turned on some debugging on the server end, and it appears that the Blackberry is simply issuing an IMAP FETCH command for every message (and there are QUITE a lot of messages). It's only getting the flags, in other words, it's checking to see whether or not the messages have been read. Over and over and over again. Every 80 minutes. The entire mailbox. What setting do I need to tell him to change in order to turn this off?

I have a second hand blackberry bold 900. When I go on to the browser it only brings up "hotspot browser" . I have tried to change the settings but there are no other options in the menu. Perhaps the other owner had restricitons. Should I reload my blackberry with software or what else can I do?

For the last couple of days my Bionic's browser opens for a half a second in portrait, then switches to landscape and can't be changed out of landscape. No other applications have this issue. My display setting for auto-rotate screen is checked.I've powered off and on and removed and replaced the battery a few times.I've gone into the App Tray>Menu>Manage Apps>All>Browser but I don't find an option to check or uncheck Landscape Only. I cleared the cache while I was there but that doesn't change anything. Since it's only the browser there must be a setting somewhere but I can't figure out how to find it.

Storm 2 (9550) with Verizon, running v5.0.0.607 (Bundle 1020, Platform 4.2.0.275)When a new application requests application control permissions, I receive the "View" dialog box, which in turn delivers a screen that shows "RIM - Application Modules". I would then typically select the "Menu" button which allows me to "Save", "Set as Defaults", "Apply Defaults" or "Edit Defaults".The problem I am having is that "Save" does nothing. "Apply Defaults" does nothing. "Set as Defaults" is the only selection that works, my app then launches.Shouldn't "Save" and/or "Apply Defaults" do virtually the same thing considering I have all Permissions set to Allow.

I am on official 8.1 and just noticed today that my browser will not rotate into landscape mode. Actually it will rotate the first time it's used after restarting the phone but any time I use it after that it is stuck in portrait mode. This seems to be new as of today but not sure.

So I got a blackberry curve 8300 (never been used) the other day and I have modified my contract with o2 so i have the unlimited blackberry data bolt on. I can access BB messenger no problem and have been chatting away, but I can't go on the web because there is no browser on the phone. how the heck do I solve this problem? How do I get the browser on the blackberry? Obviously I'll need a browser for emails and facebook and twitter, or even to download the apps for these.

My blackberry browser is not behaving properly. It all started a few months ago, I dont know the exact month or day but it's been a while now. When I use the browser, the blue bar at the bottom will progress very slowly and get to the end but no page will actually load. Resetting the phone will, as I said, result in a temporary fix but I am now growing tired of this re-occurance and would like to seek out a permanent fix. I have also re-sent service books, to no avail.

As the subject sais, when I open the browser, the browser keeps searching the site, of keeps loading. I have been waiting for 10 minutes and on the screen I just keep an empty screen with (after more than 2 minutes) a full blue bar still "loading".I emptied the internet history and cache.A month or so ago I could open sites without any problem. Can it be that my mobile became slower by anything? Can I maybe verify if it has been hacked? Can it have something to do that I configured my e-mail?

I could open my browser as well as files and apps that connect directly to the internet. Now this morning, I tried opening my browser or any of those files and apps to the internet, and they won't open! I keep pushing the button to get them to open, but I can't get anything to open in regards to the internet. I do have the unlimited data plan with Verizon and I did just recently pay my monthly bill, so no problems of payment. I can open the other apps just fine and I can even get emails too. But when it comes to direct connect to the internet, I can't get on!

I have managed to get a low cost GPRS plan enabled on my blackberry 9300 curve device. With this I am able to use Google maps for navigation and Opera for general browsing.
However I am unable to use BB specific applications like LinkedIn and Facebook and apparently the root cause seems that BB browser does not connect via GPRS. It always needs BIS/BES. Is there a way to get around this and start using BB browser with the general GPRS plan.
I am using OS version 6.0.0.584.

I recently received a new blackberry 9300 from virgin to replace my previous phone which was a blackberry 8520.On my previous phone it was shipped with the virgin media logo as the wallpaper and the browser icon was a virgin media emblem but both are not available on the 9300 OS6 update and when I click on the browser I have set virgin today as my homescreen but when I click on the your account icon it comes up with error and says I need to use the virgin media browser which I can't seem to find.Is it possible to download these anywhere?I am also being charged internet usage using the blackberry browser,I get 1gb on my tariff and my allowance has not gone down although I have been using the internet,I spoke to technical support at virgin who told me the OS6 update only has one browser icon but should switch to the correct carrier so I do not get charged but this does not seem to happen,

I just purchased a bb curve 9320 and I'm very happy with it. I bought it unlocked and I'm using it with T-Mobile_text and talk only(no data plan)I have one concern: I've been reading in some forums people say they have trouble and complain that WiFi options are very limited without a data plan.I have successfully connected my WiFi and I'm using the native browser to surf the web. Does this mean I might get charged extra at the end of the month?
