BB Curve 8900 :: How To Add / Edit Phonebook Contacts Through Desktop Software?
Mar 20, 2010
i have a blackberry 8900. i also have tonnes of phone numbers that i either need to edit (delete or add email ids to) but i simpy cant type them in manually one by one i know in nokia, there syn application is such that u can make the changes in the nokia pc app and it automatically syncs up with the blackberry.i used the blackberry desktop software, but unfortunately i did not see this functionality a) how can i work around this ? is there any such functionality in BB desktop software? b) are there are 3rd party software available for this ?
I recently tried to edit one of my phonebook contacts and the phone wouldn't let me do it. Every time I went to "edit" nothing would happen. Not the biggest problem ever, however, now my phone won't let me add new contacts. When I go to "add to contacts" nothing happens, and occasionally my phone will freeze and I have to turn it off. I have tried taking the battery out and letting the phone reboot but still nothing.
I am not able to add any new contacts on my BB curver 8900. It started this problem since two weeks. I tried removing the battery and all but still the issues is not solved. Also i think the phone got little slow.My BB Pin is 21921334.I am struggling now with my bb. i dont wanna loose it because i am so attached to my bb.I think there are only about 300contacts saved on the phone.
I have a Curve 8520 and would like to edit my contacts on my laptop instead of the device.Outlook 2007 does not want so sync with my device, nor does using Excel work.Would someone point me in the right direction?

I have a 8900 running v4.6.1.101 (Platform 4.2.0.72).It syncs ok via bluetooth to my new Freelander 2 but only displays No's not Names from my directory. Any ideas anyone?
My device BB curve 8900, since I upgraded to OS 5, when I press add new contact no response. I cannot either edit any existing contact. I removed the battery and put it back again, same problem.
I do not know what I did, but I suddenly have no contacts in my phonebook. However, I still have the original list on my simcard. If I try to copy them to my phonebook, nothing happens and the contacts doesn't appear on my contactlist. It also seem as if it is all the most used contacts that are missing.
Every time I add or edit a contact in my bb phonebook it doesn't save and it hangs. I even reset my phone to factory settings but still I can't add a contact.
I have noticed that every time I reboot my phone once its back on all my contacts that I have loaded in my phone book since I received my blackberry (not the original phone numbers on my sim) are gone. I lose them every time. Why does that happen? All my contacts are actually missing but I can still save my sim contacts back onto my face but seriously this is annoying and not why I got this phone so I can spend 30 min getting my numbers visible again and also losing all new. I have to now save them on paper.
I'm writing from Austria, Europe. I just got my BlackBerry Curve 8900 few days ago, everything's fine, I like it a lot. I've got just a problem with the desktop manager software. I installed it through the CD delivered with my BlackBerry and got the newest version of the software through the internet as well. But somehow, when I open the Media Manager Section, I got a button to install the Media Manager, and when I click on it, it doesn't work. I tried it several times already, but I alsways get a notification, that there's a problem and I have to put the user tools CD or try it when I'm connected to the internet. I put the CD and I'm also always connected to the internet, but it doesn't work. So I can't put any media files into my BlackBerry.
i installed the blackberry desktop software from the website . when i tried to initialize it for the first time i got a prompt which asked me to input the device password
now i'm assuming the device password is the same pwd that i use to unlock me device (and its the same pwd that i have to input every time i hook up my blackberry to my laptop)
so i'm entering that very same password but its giving me an incorrect pwd notification.
is there some other pwd that i'm supposed to configure on this ?
I'm trying to set up bluetooth synchronization for my 8900 now that I am no longer on a BES.I picked up an Asus USB BT-21 bluetooth adapter for my PC, which is apparently based on Broadcom hardware. I'm running Win7 64 bit and installed the Broadcom drivers for the adapter. I followed the instructions here: http://www.blackberry.com /btsc/ search.do? cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB04132&sliceId=1&docTy.Everything works fine up until the point where I go back into Desktop Manager and try to find my 8900. Desktop manager manages to find every other blackberry in my building except for mine. At the bottom of the instructions, it says that a conflicting IT policy might be the cause of this problem. So, I reset to factory defaults to remove any lingering IT policies as per the instructions here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/67224-remove-policy.html?highlight=remove+policy Tried to connect again but still no joy in mudsville.
I have just bought a new laptop (Sony Vaio running Windows 7 and Microsoft Outlook 2010). I am using the Blackberry 8900 Curve with Vodafone.
Like everyone else, I could not synchronise my blackberry with Outlook 2010 and was told to wait until August for version 6 of Desktop Manager.
I just installed it! But when I tried to launch Desktop Manager is simply says "Blackberry desktop software has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem" and then I get " Blackberry desktop software has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".
I un-installed and reinstalled. No change.
Prior to downloading version 6 I had downloaded and installed version 5 with Service Pack - the file name was 501_b049_multilanguage. That one installed and launched but there was NO WAY to synchronise Blackberry Curve 8900 with Outlook 2010!
My PC is brand new and "TOTALLY CLEAN" of any special install. The only application running on this laptop other than Microsoft Windows 7 (32 bit) and Microsoft Office 2010 (including Outlook 2010) are McAfee (which I disabled to ensure this was not the reason desktop manager would not work!) and an HP all in one printer!
IT HAS BEEN A WHOLE MONTH since Microsoft launched Outlook 2010, not sure what the issue is but both Desktop Manager 5 and Desktop Manager 6 have VERY SERIOUS ISSUES which should have been screened through QA.
Can someone help? Getting error message saying "You cannot save your backup file to \network folder name . Please select a different folder with write permissions." I can write to the folder selected, but the software can't. It did on all my other versions of BB Desktop. Can only save to local C drive.
I recently tried adding and then editing contacts but my phone froze. I turned the handheld off and after freezing for a minutes or so this error message appears: Application net_rim_bb_addressbook_app (220). I have uninstalled apps and rebooting hoping it would work but no luck.
So whenever I try to edit or add a contact it doesn't let me, whenever I try editing one or adding one it freezes. I have to turn it off, then whenever it turns back on it says that it stopped responding and it says this:net_rim_bb_addressbook_app(305)
I cannot add to the contacts, nor edit any existing contacts in my blackberry 8900 since the last few days. The Contacts worked fine till recently. Now suddenly it has stopped taking any changes
I can not add, edit my contacts, ive tried un installing fb and twitter think they wee my last updated now thats causing trouble i keepo having to restart the device
Recently I find that I am unable to Add ot Edit a contact. All other functions of the BB are working fine. The BB & the BES account have both been reset in a hope to solve the problem.
I gave my 'old' Blackberry 8520 to my husband as I had upgraded. He put the sim from his Samsung phone in the BB. He is now unable to ' add new contact ' or edit any of his contacts. I had wiped the phone and taken it back to factory settings before I gave it to him. He does not have any of the messengers on it except BBM.
Everytime i add some no. to my contacts i click add contact and nothings happen i restart my bb by removing the battery and put it back again but still not working i also wipe it but its still not working i was planning to update the os but it`s already updated to the latest any suggestion you can suggest me?
