BB Curve 8520/8530 :: Way To Get The Dust Out Of The Screen?
Mar 30, 2010
I have a ton of dust under my screen right now, and it is really starting to bother me. Is there any way to get the dust out of the screen? I don't mind taking the phone apart if it gets rid of it. I already tried to take the phone to the VZW store, but they didn't do anything.
Hey everyone, I'm a new Curve 8530 user with sprint and have had my 8530 for about 6 days now and I just happened too look down at the screen while it was locked and the bottom left corner is full of dust on the inside.... Has anyone else seen this on the 8520/30 yet? Is it difficult to get a replacement device?
What's the best way to get rid of the dust under the screen of a 8530? I recently noticed this and my carrier said it was caused by dust getting in through the speaker area on top of the phone and that there was nothing they could do, they tried using a canned air, but didn't budge. I asked both U.S. Cellular and Verizon reps what I should do and they say that I need to replace the phone. (Contact my Insurance Company, which is DTS Insurance I believe my carrier uses.)
So far to correct the issue I've applied a case that covers up most cracks and a privacy protector which made it so I can see the dust under the screen. but, still I'd like to know how to fix the issue.
So far the only thing I can think of is to take the housing apart and probably just put a new housing on, but clean the lcd underneath the plastic screen.
I've got a week old 8520, put an invisible shield on the other day and it looks ok. One corner is screwed up because I had to peel it up to remove a speck of dust but over all it looks fine. I just noticed today that there was some dust under one of the corners, but it's under the plastic screen not under the invisible shield. I thought these screens were sealed? It hasn't been dropped or anything, barely been used. Any advise besides taking it off and cleaning it out? What else besides the special plastic tool can be used to remove the screen?
I'm having trouble with my camera. it is always blurry and dim and although there was some dust on the lense, which i cleaned off, it remains partially blurry and dim. My brother and I have the same phone and the same settings on the camera (Automatic light balance, large picture size, superfine, normal color effect), but his shows up much brighter and clearer. I just turned his camera and mine on and pointed both at the same object and it was almost like night and day. the only difference I have noticed is that when you turn on your camera, to the left of the screen is a number. Mine reads 1000+ and his reads 008. What do these numbers mean? Is this what is causing the difference, and can that be changed?
I've had my 8530 for a little over a month, every once in awhile after I end a call the screen goes blank but when I use the track pad the screen comes back in sections. After I use the track pad to scroll upper left then upper right the bottom right and bottom left the screen is normal. Has anyone else had this issue?
I'm really annoyed right now.No matter what theme I use on my Sprint 8530 5.0 OS the active call/incoming call screen is the ugly default screen. Can somebody please tell me how to fix it or is plazmic working on the issue? It really sucks to have cool themes and this one screen is all jacked up.
I understand lots of people have had the same problem, but I just cannot find a solution which works for my Blackberry 8520!It has a white screen showing nothing, it boots once you put the battery in, and the only way to power it off is to take out the battery, I think it also keeps rebooting.I have replaced the screen - still white screen.I have re-installed the OS - still white screen
I looked through the forum and couldn't find this question answered before, so please forgive me if it has.Is there any way to do away with the Home screen altogether? I'd like to be able to just have the Apps shown. I'm sure there's probably a theme out there to do it, but I'd rather not have to use a theme.
So basically I must have pressed Alt and Enter and the language options came up. I cleared that screen and now every time I go to type whether in an email, bbm, sms, or my browser I have a little EN box in the top right hand corner of my screen. And it's pretty darn annoying. How do I get rid of this?
Just out of curiosity, what do you put on your lock screen? I currently have my name and my husband's phone number, since putting my own number on there would be pointless. So, what do you have on yours?
Just had to downgrade from a Tour to Curve 8530 and I know the screen resolution is much different in terms of clarity. What is the clearest font that looks the best on the 8530? I dont see any option for smoothing.
I downloaded a theme and now I can't get the shortcuts back on my home screen that I had before. Is there a way to change them back ? How do I go back to the way it was with a picture that I had taken as my wallpaper?
When using the browser other other app. And I select Switch Application. How do I set which icons are available from the pop up screen? And sometimes they switch. I want to be able to have icons I use. Not what my BB 8530 thinks should be there.
It will be a couple of days before I can purchase my skin from BSE and was wondering if anyone has any tips on protecting my screen from pesky scratches (I have a tiny one already from over-cleaning the screen, damn fingerprints!) until then. I know it would help, if not eliminate, my fear of scratches if I could just stop cleaning the screen, but those fingerprints drive me mad!
i was in the process of taking apart the 8530, and i got the screen off, then went to remove the bezel. in all the video's i found on Internet they were taking apart verizon phones and the oem bezels are different. the telus bezel is in 2 pieces. the telus sign in the bottom is seperate from the bezel. is there screws holding this telus piece down or do i have to really pry it up. i put some decent force on it but it still didn't move.
I have the BB 8520 curve and idk I was in the shower. Talkin on the phone after it rang only for about 40 seconds next.Thing my phone has this moisture spot in the middle of the screen that I can play wit. I checked google I tryed a couple things.
Like blowdryin. It worked by disappearing but came right back anyways itz a bad idea cuz it could damage ya phone I tried lettin it sun dry ,and it only goz away to a point.I then tried a bowl of rice. Same thing.HELP wat do I do now I left it in rice overnite. But I went to bed lilke 3am that nite and wokle up around 12
Now I've had this phone for about 2 months...decent phone, few problems here and there but good for the most part.
I originally got one which had a dead pixel on it, and was sent a replacement phone free of charge, no hassle.
Now with this phone, about a week ago I noticed a black faded spot on my screen upon waking up, having it charge overnight.
You can really only see it when there's a bright white background or if you tilt the phone, its about 1/4".
I called Fido, they said to do a system restore/backup to see if that resolves the spot. Didn't work.
I call back, they said they'd ship one out and have a tech check it out and determine if it was caused by physical damage, and if it was I'd be invoiced $200 for a refurbished phone and not able to get this unit back.
Now I'm pretty sure I didn't drop or ding or pinch my phone, but I cannot be entirely sure. It's also protected by an Otterbox Defender series case which is pretty rugged...but I'd hate do be billed for $200 when I guess I could learn to live with the spot, but still sucks considering I paid full price for it and I don't believe i caused any damage to it..
Anyone else experience similar problems with their LCD's?
I have a curve 8530. How do I change the icons on the home screen? Also, the messages icons, there are 2, one plain envelope and one envelope with a earth on it. Do the same messages from the earth one (which I assume means email) go into the plain envelope one which I think means ALL messages including BB PIN Messages? And then to other texts show up in the plain one?
I have several confounding issues. My new Curve 8530 will not boot. Nothing appears on the screen. The only thing it does is flash the red LED indicator once and then 4 quick consecutive times. In searching the forum, suggestions say to run apploader. However, I get stuck because my device can never be recognized by my computer!I was installing a factory update over the air. I cancelled the download because I thought doing it over Desktop Manager would be much faster. I connected the device via USB (for the first time ever). Drivers were recognized and were being installed. After a while, nothing happened with the device OR the computer. Now I have a brick of a phone that only blinks the LED at me. The device cannot be detected by my computer when I run apploader directly or through Desktop Manager. Yes, I have also tried fiddling with the Connection Options in DM.
I've had a blackberry for around a month or so, and i have the curve 8530. I had always assigned screen lock to the left side convenience button. I plugged it in to my computer to put music on and i believe i updated the phone. my screen lock button is gone. no option. it has dissapeared.
One of our employees just got a new AT&T BB 8520. By default, it goes to the "short home screen" where it only shows one row of icons instead of the full menu screen. Is there some way to disable this so it will show the full home screen by default and not require you to press the menu button to see it?
How to get rid of the new message indicator from the home screen? when I get a new message and read it, the little red asterix does not go away until you move the icons in the applications screen and then it fails to show once you've done that.
Just got a Curve 8530 last week (U.S. Cellular). I can't figure out how to show my daily appointments/ calendar on the main screen like my 8330 did.Is there an option for this? or a free theme that does it?
