I have a problem with my bb the home screen displays a 'new bbm notification' icon, but there is nothing. The red light for notification isn't flashing unless I receive another. And the icon is also displayed at the top of pages for other applications. I have rebooted twice already and it does not disappear. The icon really does frustrate me.

It has a 3 and right next to it is a black circle with a red mark on upper right edge of circle. Almost resembles the old round cartoon bombs from years ago. Just showed up on my phone last week.

It is the twitter symbol "t" with a number 9 next to it - I pressume it is telling me I have messages, but I do not. Does anyone know what it is ? and whether I can get rid of it.I know it is not a major problem but it is just annoying me that I do not know what it is really.

I went to bb website to download, but it says unsupported. well, sorta because 8520 doesn't have gps, but why it is installed if it can't be used?
Each time my phone has to restart or reboot, my email icon which is AOL(green envelope w/ a blue AOL/logo @ bottom of envelope) disappears and the standard icon appears in home screen. Before to get it back, i go to email setup and delete it then add it back, then AOL icon returns. Now doing it the same way, my green AOL icon does not return anymore! just the standard one, can anybody help on how to get it back? Please!!Thanks!!

View 5 Replies View Relatedmy Yahoo Mail icon decided to go missing (again) after I did a battery pull. Normally, I can resend service books once or twice and it'll pop back up. This time, however, no such luck. I've resent services books (around 20 times or more). I've deleted service books all together and then resent them. I've deleted the email all together and readded it. I've tried with another Yahoo address. Nothing is able to bring back my beloved icon. Does anyone else have any ideas as to how to bring it back? I really hate the mail icon with the little globe and I'm pretty sure I'd do whatever it takes to get my Yahoo icon back.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a few email addresses integrated with Blackberry OS 5.0.0.459 on the Curve 8530.
I set the inbox settings so that some of the email addresses do not show in the Messages inbox, however, they still show a small icon notification at the top tray when there are unread messages there.
How can I customize the unread messages notification tray icon so that it doesn't show unread emails from certain email accounts?
I have searched around and found many problems faced regarding the email icon showing unread emails but in actual fact there are none. My problem however is the opposite of that - there are unread emails but it is not indicating as such.
This is specifically for Gmail as all my other email accounts are showing unread emails just fine. It is a minor issue but it does get on my nerves trying to figure this out.
Recent activities include upgrading OS to OS5 and changing telco, doubt if these are the cause of it. I have tried deleting and creating the email account and battery pull to no avail.
Just upgraded from 8330 to 8530. I am not a moron with these phones, but I can not get an unread email notification to disappear. I have no new messages, I have done repeated battery pulls, I have changed themes, I have gone through all my email accounts. I havd searched through this board, and don't see any other ideas that might solve this issue. At this point the little #1 at the top of my screen is my arch nemesis. Anyone have any other ideas?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Curve 8520, and suddenly tonight, I have a read message icon on the home screen that won't go away. I have no emails or messages at all on my phone anymore, and I cleared the messages from the advanced tab thingy on the desktop manager. I've done a battery pull, turned it off and waited a few minutes before turning it back on, and nothing has worked. I even tried sending a text message to my phone from my husband's, and it showed up as 2 messages on the icon, but when I deleted that new text msg, it went back down to 1 read message and is still there.

Also, mine is Grey OEM by Telus. I just don't know what colour i'll customize it, any Idea? I like black and white just like my old Tour, but there's white 8520 so it would be less unique

Messages - catchall for everything
Desktop email icon
2nd/personal email icon
However, I switched back to the Curve (8530) because of the keyboard, and now I don't have a primary desktop email icon. The only way to view work email is to use the messages icon where everything else goes as well. Is there any way to create or separate the two email accounts so I can view the work email separately?
This is my second blackberry curve 8530 and they both have the same problem, they won't play videos. They use to but now when I go to like you tube, or nothingtoxic.com, or even my video recordings it won't play it says an error has occurred media attempt failed. I use to restart my BB and that would help for a lil while now it doesn't work at all. How do I fix this?

All of the people in his address book have "classic ringer" as their custom ring tone along with the volume set about midway like its some kind of default setting. I have tried changing the profiles/ringtones and creating new ones (with different tones) this does not change the ringer for those 80+ people. In the Set Contact Alert menu there are only 3 people with a custom tone showing.The Classic Ring is not loud enough for him to hear and no matter how I try to change the default ringer it does not change the ring for the contact list.I've done a battery pull, no change.Updated it to newest OS.Contact list was imported from a Storm 2(he likes having actual buttons to push).
Am I missing something or 1) shouldn't all those people show up in the Set Contact Alert Menu, if there is a custom tone set up or 2) shouldn't their default change if I change the default for the phone.I haven't checked all of them, but did check at least 10 and regardless of what I do they're still the same. Ringer shows Classic all other options say active profile.Is there any way I can change their default ringer without having to give each one a custom ring--too time consuming?
I had a 8330 (for 2 months) that would reboot itself constantly. Does not do it anymore 'cause I returned it for a 8530. The 8530 that I've had since Jan 01 is better, it only does it now and then when it is tethered to my pc.. Rendering it just about useless for my business activities. US Cellular is at a loss. Should I accept this defect as part of the BB experience?
