How much Device memory should I have? I have a BB 8520 with 122277261 File Free. And when I check App World it says I have 116 MB left. I'm always scared of going under 110 MB. How much device memory should you have? Is it alright if I go under 110 MB in my device memory?

I have been trying to access a website that I normally visit daily and today it was telling me that about memory being full. Its only when i try to access my inbox, yet the the rest of the pages will load (including facebook).I deleted a bunch of pics off my phone and thought if i enabled memory cleaning, it would clear my cache, cookies, etc.
the prompt said it would save changes when the device was turned off and rebooted. I did a battery pull and now what is happening is my issue.
after i pulled the battery, I get a red blink of hte led, then a black screen with a clock in the middle (obviously the loading symbol) and then the screen showing "blackberry" with a loading bar.Once the loading bar is done loading...nothing! It goes back to turning off the device and reloading from the start. It has been doing this for 2 hours and the device will not go to the home screen, it just keeps rebooting itself. I have done 2 or 3 battery pulls now and it keeps doing it. Would it have anything to do with the "memory clean" enablement? or is the peice of cr@p toast now? And have i lost all my contacts??
On my blackberry 8330 i had the icons where the weree on left side from top to bottom also on my 8330 in the menu were everything else was my instant messengers were just in there on my 8530 they are in a folder called instant messengers how do i take em out of there?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had the Curve 8530 for about a week, and I noticed today that the majority of my contact list has disappeared. I started with almost 250 names, now I have about 25. Everything from A-D is gone, and about 75% of everything after that, just random names deleted. Also, when I pull up the contact list, I have to scroll down through a bunch of empty lines before I can see the numbers that are left, like all the deleted contacts are still there, just hidden. But if I search for names that aren't showing up, it doesn't find anything. I've tried a battery pull, and all that happened was the empty spaces in the list disappeared. I really don't want to have to reload my contacts every few days.

View 14 Replies View RelatedThe Application Memory in my Options>Memory keeps on decresin as I use the phone. (I didn't download/removed/upgraded any apps). Like I have around 112 mb of free application memory when my phone starts up after a battery pull, and after using it for like 6-8 hrs. the Free space in application memory went down to 72.3 mb :S .This is making my phone real slow. Also, when I restart (battery pull) my phone, the memory goes back up to original 112 mb bt then all f this thing happns all over again. Someone on my prev. thread replied that it was a case of "Memory Leak", and I must wipe my handset to get rid of it. I wiped it, Installed new OS (5.0.0.681) and the problem is still there.
View 8 Replies View Related my girl and I both have the 8530 with Sprint, and for some reason, her application memory is down to 68MB, while mine is up at 106MB... and I have way more apps on mine! Rebooting her phone doesn't help at all, and I just can't figure out why the difference is so big, since I do have a lot more apps than she does. We are both running the same OS, the new .654 OS. I do have BerryJoose memory cleaner, but I wouldn't think that would make such a big difference.
I just got my BlackBerry curve 8520 last week and I just noticed when I looked at the Application Memory that it had changed. Yesterday it was 135.5 mb but when I looked at it today it changed to 132.7 mb. Have any of you guys experienced this before? Is this normal in a BlackBerry?

How do I transfer them to the media card, and can I "select all" to move them all at once or do I have to go picture by picture?Also, I use Desktop Manager for Mac. Is there any way I can move them around through my Mac Finder? Would I have to disable Mass Storage? In what situations would one enable or disable Mass Storage and MTP?

When I'm reading a page, I will sometimes switch websites, accidentally or intentionally; if I do this, and then try to go back to the page I was reading, I have to wait 1-2 or more minutes all over again before the page is visible.Is there any way to cache web pages in the phone's memory (as you can do on a normal web browser like Firefox), so I don't have to keep going through this?(I've been told you can't have multiple pages open at once on a Curve 8530, but if this is wrong, I'd be happy to hear it.)
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I just got my Blackberry yesterday and while I was tweaking around and setting my passwords, I enabled Secure Content and it said that it will start Memory Cleaning and that it'll take a few minutes. I waited for it to finish but then it just died down on me. It went off and then whenever I'd try to turn it on, a solid red light goes on and then it goes to the white screen with the clock-loading icon thing for 5 minutes then turns off then does it again or just remains off. I tried pulling out the battery then turning it on, charging it for 3 hours straight, the 101 on Reinstalling the OS on a Bricked Berry and it still forever loops on its boot up. I don't know what happened or why it did that and to think that it was barely a day old when it happened. Any suggestions on what to do besides taking it to my carrier?

When I start the device, it start to boot up until maybe 75 % and then it starts all over again from 0. naturally I tried to pull the batterie out, and waited like couple of minutes but it still want works.does anyone has similar experience? any suggestion on how to solve it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI own a BB for only 3 days now. I was wondering if the device was normally sold with Appworld already install? It was not on mine. I wanted to download it today, here the process:
1- Go to BB.com, send the link on my email...err: I don't have internet explorer 5 or higher on my device (can't download it for the same reason!)
2- Go to BB.com to download it on my desktop....err, I use firefox (mac),
3- open VMWare Fusion, run Internet explorer 5, crash.
4- install internet explorer 7...crash
5- Look in the application loader in the desktop manager, I can uninstall/install Appworld on my device! Do it. I still can't see in in my applications.
My device is pw protected. I schedule my quickpull to restart my phone and I gave it the pw so it can by pass that. However, it does not do that. The phone does not unlock and restart. Instead, I have to manually unlock it and it prompts me to restart. Idk what to do. I want to have phone restarted when I don't need it. As in when I wake up and hop in shower.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Pearl, doesn't connect to PC, no internet. My brother is letting me use his Curve to transfer a theme to my Pearl. Now basically, i need to know how and where to transfer the Pearl theme to (while the curve is plugged in, and the pearl's micro sd is in it) then remove the SD card and put the SD card it in the pearl, then locate the theme.
When i open the folders for the micro SD card on the computer,(while in the curve) i see no folder for apps or themes. I transfer the alx and cod file into every folder there but i can't find it when i put the micro sd back in my pearl
The next thing ive tried was installing it as an app thru BB manager, it said it transferred ok, but i cant find it on the micro sd card (do they go right to the curves own memory maybe??)
For some reason, I can't receive emails on my @sprint.blackberry.net account. My Yahoo, AOL and Gmail work just fine. I signed up for a BB address on my phone's browser. When I try to log in on my desktop, it says my device is not accessible and I must visit the website on my phone. I have tried sending emails TO my phone and sending emails FROM my phone. Neither one works.

I am with orange and I have 500MB data per month. When I try and use the mobile network internet it says 'This is a WiFi service. Please ensure your device has an active wifi connection and try again'. Why is this? Also, when i try to update to 5.0 it says I need a data package but it worked on my old phone. And because of this I can't download the app world. The signal goes to SOS a lot as well but I think my house blocks the signal. Currently it says 'gprs' with 2 bars beside it.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am using the Google calendar sync to push my Outlook appointments to my Google calendar, and then using the Google calendar app on my BB 8530 to download my consildated Outlook/Google calendar.This works great, except for one problem. When I receive an invite for a meeting via my Exchange email on my device, it automatically adds it to my calendar, hence creating a duplicate calendar item.
In my calendar options on my BB, the "Wireless Sync" option is grayed out and set to "No." (since I don't use a BES connection)
How can I stop my BB from adding items to my calendar automatically when it sees the calendar invite in my email on the device?
I have Verizon service and use webmail to sync my Exchange email.
is the 8520 housings are compatible with the 8530? I know the answer is probably yes because there's no differences at all in the phone not like the 83XX series. Also, mine is Grey OEM by Telus. I just don't know what colour i'll customize it, any Idea? I like black and white just like my old Tour, but there's white 8520 so it would be less unique
View 6 Replies View RelatedI currently have the BB 8520 with 4.6 software, I've been doing to get the O.S 5 update following the 'Upgrade Guide'. I've tried deleting the vendor.xml file but still not luck it still keeps on saying it doesn't have "BlackBerry Device Software". I've tried to following things.
1. Searching my entire computer for another vendor.xml file
2. Re-installing both the upgrade and Desktop Manager
Still no luck, can anybody try and help me out? I've done some searching on the forum and found nothing.

This is my second blackberry curve 8530 and they both have the same problem, they won't play videos. They use to but now when I go to like you tube, or nothingtoxic.com, or even my video recordings it won't play it says an error has occurred media attempt failed. I use to restart my BB and that would help for a lil while now it doesn't work at all. How do I fix this?

All of the people in his address book have "classic ringer" as their custom ring tone along with the volume set about midway like its some kind of default setting. I have tried changing the profiles/ringtones and creating new ones (with different tones) this does not change the ringer for those 80+ people. In the Set Contact Alert menu there are only 3 people with a custom tone showing.The Classic Ring is not loud enough for him to hear and no matter how I try to change the default ringer it does not change the ring for the contact list.I've done a battery pull, no change.Updated it to newest OS.Contact list was imported from a Storm 2(he likes having actual buttons to push).
Am I missing something or 1) shouldn't all those people show up in the Set Contact Alert Menu, if there is a custom tone set up or 2) shouldn't their default change if I change the default for the phone.I haven't checked all of them, but did check at least 10 and regardless of what I do they're still the same. Ringer shows Classic all other options say active profile.Is there any way I can change their default ringer without having to give each one a custom ring--too time consuming?
I had a 8330 (for 2 months) that would reboot itself constantly. Does not do it anymore 'cause I returned it for a 8530. The 8530 that I've had since Jan 01 is better, it only does it now and then when it is tethered to my pc.. Rendering it just about useless for my business activities. US Cellular is at a loss. Should I accept this defect as part of the BB experience?
