I just purchased the phone a week ago and everything has been wonderful. However, this morning, I realized that the phone was not logged in to my home wireless network. I went to the WiFi section of the phone and the box was unchecked. I have been unable to get the box to stay checked. The phone is an 8530, v5.0.0.337 (platform 4.2.0.136).
View 4 RepliesI just upgraded my 8530 to OS 5, funny thing though, when I'm not at home on my WiFi, I don't receive my emails, the browser doesn't seem to find anything (sticks are "requesting") and the FB app doesn't work.However, when I am away from my WiFi, my Pandora App still streams music from the web, so I'm wondering if there are any settings that may have been reset regarding the internet or data?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have a bb curve 8520 (edge,wifi) v5.0.0.822, platform 5.2.0.76 tmobile brand + at&t i have no sim card, and device isnt unlocked. well at first i had free wifi, i updated the os a few times, wiped the device more than needed, and performed battery pulls........ still got free wifi for over 3 months. did with no type of data plan.i called tmobile to request a unlock. i got the run around to go to RIM for help. the next day i have no wifi. i try to turn it on the check mark vanishes, the red x notifying connection is off never turns to green on. not only that my mac address is 00:00:00:00:00:00. i only want the free wifi for home use, i just got into developing for the bb smartphones. this device only purpose is a portible workspace to write code,test apps, and simulators on the go, so i can learn more about this craft.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a local wifi service that works great with my laptop, but when I try to connect to it using the BB, it does not allow me to connect. I am not even getting to the user name/password prompt. It goes through the redirecting page then comes back after several seconds with a "bad query". I have tried the hotspot browser, firefox and Internet explorer with the same results. I have deleted the entry for the wireless connection, cleared all of my cache including cookies. I have neighbors that connect to the same wifi with their iPhones and it is no problem for them. Why would a BB be different. Curve 8530 v5.0.0.508.

So I want to force the phone to GSM and be able to get my email pushed whenever I'm connected to WIFI. I've search everywhere but it seems that there is no way to do it. I tryed to disable data but it disable email via WIFI (but you can surf with the browser). tryed to turn off mobile network, I receive my email via WIFI but no one can call me then.I want to use BB email service and don't want to install any other email software.

So, today, and purely for research purposes went to McDonalds for lunch and tried their Wifi (had a quarter pounder with cheese with sprite for those interested) and just like back at home, connects first time then drops then "failed to associate with network".I am on Orange with the Blackberry unlimited internet add on and everything worked fine with my pearl.Have tried Orange tech but , well the less said the better there.
Really loving this phone (8520) and a massive leap from my last phone.
Having trouble with connecting to my or my works wifi. It registers both routers and displays the name across at the top of the phone and in wifi settings I have a black square with a white dash line and a green wifi symbol.
I have a Asda pay as you go sim which is fine for the calls text etc but I hearing not so good for the Internet.
I have managed to get the browser going with the Hotspot setting but I'm guessing this isn't using my home wifi as it as slow as a snail and keeps cutting out.
Without Hotspot enabled it tries to use VodaphoneLive and I get the message "unable to connect to the Internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider"
I have had the curve for a few weeks now. At first i changed the settings of the browser to "hotspot" so i could use it with wifi. It was working really well, then all of a sudden it stopped durin browsing. The phone says the wifi connection is fine, but whenever i go to the broswer and try to go to a website it just says loading at the bottom and nothing happens.
Can anyone help with this? should i restart the phone setting somehow because i might have done changed some setting during browsing without realising or is this an actual issue with the phone?
I used to charge my BB using a cradle. Last week I went back to using the USB connection. Now, every time I
a) turn it off
b) charge it via USB
c) turn it on.
The Mobile network comes up as off.
I go to Manage Connections and check the box, and everything is fine again.Anyone have a clue what's going on? BB 8330, VZW, v4.5.0.77 (Didn't upgrade because their newer release is supposed to be less good).
I'm trying to get rid of some music off my iphone. I have 'selected playlists, music, artists, albums' button checked, I chose everything I wanted and did not want anymore under the albums category, and when it finishes syncing, all the new things I checked are on my iphone, but all the things I unchecked are still on my phone as well. The things that are staying on were not bought on itunes and has nothing to do with icloud.

Why is it that when i uncheck certain things like Google Photos Auto Back up, Google Plus, Google Photos they randomly get re-enabled?
I DO NOT WANT to use Google Photos Auto Back up, or on a couple of my email addresses Google Plus, OR Google Photos yet from time to time they seem to automatically enable them selves.
My guess is this happens after app updates but if i have disabled syncing in the first place for these apps why do they keep re-enabling them selves? I do not like it.
For those of you who have disabled syncing of a particular app can you check yours and see if they have been re-enabled? Im curious to see if its my device or a wide spread issue.
Have a Torch, Contacts Options indicate that contacts exist, but do not display. I have unchecked the filters, indicated to show all contact lists and pulled the battery three times.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have about 6 or 7 songs that I want to permanently delete from my iTunes library and iPhone. They keep showing up even after I've unchecked/deleted them. I've used the manual option and selected the artists, genres, etc. that I still want, but the deleted songs keep appearing. I bought these songs off of the iTunes store I didn't use my iPhone. I don't have the iTunes Match option turned on my phone, nor do I use iCloud. I don't know what else to do besides manually selecting all of my songs and putting them into a folder, deleting the blasphemous songs that I don't want anymore, deleting my iTunes library and resetting my iPhone and copying the songs from the folder back into my iTunes library.

I have recently enabled 3G in mom's Galaxy S2. Now in order to make 3G or GPRS work, the user has to enable "Packet Data" in the Settings>Wireless & Network. In mom's case that "Enable Packet Data" check box automatically gets unchecked after few minutes.
1) Does it got something to do with the power saving settings?
2) Or does the anti-virus software or battery defender automatically unchecks it?
3) Or is it a virus / bug?
When I click the checkbox to send calls directly to voicemail it will check but as soon as I change screens and go back to options the checkbox is un-checked.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently received a message telling me that an update was available for App World. I downloaded the update, installed it and rebooted. Now I am unable to download apps. When I hit the download button it takes me to the sign in for BlackBerry ID, then to terms and conditions and then to my ID settings! The only way I can get off this screen is to press Discard, which takes me back to where I started! I just keep going round in circles.

I seem to have gotten everything working on the Curve, except for the email.I had the same email accounts (gmail, hotmail) set up on both phones, but for some reason now that I've switched over to the Curve on the Fido network, I can't send or receive email.I've checked all my settings, and they seem right.I can access the web, my Wi-Fi is set up, and I can send & receive texts. Anyone have any ideas about this email problem? Also, I can't remember my account username for the BB website to access my account online to change the email.When I ask to send my password, it says it has been sent to my BB, but of course I can't receive email, so I'm not getting it.

It has been stuck here all day! I called Fido earlier and asked them what to do and they told me to connect to my computer, I have done that and have tried everything and the problem still exists.

View 8 Replies View RelatedGot a Curve 8520 and since updating yesterday, the frame rate when recording video has dropped significantly meaning jerky/jumpy video. It may be worth adding that even when in video camera mode but NOT recording the feed is still jumpy. I can see the difference by watching video I recorded before the update and also by comparing to my wifes phone (exactly the same as mine) which has not had the update yet.

We had all our contacts in our blackberrys when we left the store, I was even assigning ring tones to certain people already. I downloaded blackberry for facebook later that night and all my contacts were suddenly gone. I've tried to manually put in contacts, click save, and then no contact shows up. There are no filters checked in the contacts so I know it's not that. Any other ideas?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a new curve (8530) and my carrier is Verizon. My curve was syncing with my Yahoo calendar in December without any issues. Since January it no longer syncs. My memo pad syncs, but not the calendar. I do not have Outlook on my computer, so Yahoo is my only choice of calendar. I spoke to Verizon tech support for 2 hours and we tried everything. I uninstalled and reinstalled Desktop manager, but that didn't help either.
