BB Curve 8500 :: Can You Select Outlook Folders To Sync?
Jul 29, 2010
I see from reading through the posts here that the easiest way to synch contacts seems to be through Outlook. I don't have Outlook at home, but I do have it at work. My question is, if I set up a separate folder under "Contacts" in Outlook with, for example, "Blackberry Contacts," can I synch my BB with JUST that folder's contacts?

I'm a newbie to iPhones and have just got a 4S. I use Outlook 2007 [not Exchange] as email client along with Contacts/Notes etc.I have previously used Nokia PC to synch specific Outlook contacts and mail folders with Nokia E75 [i.e. just the ones that are relevant] because there are too many folders and other extraneous stuff that will just fill up the iPhone needlessly. Also extremely time consuming and resource hungry to do it all the time. PST is currently about 2.5Gb How do I select just specific folders from Outlook to synch with iTunes/iPhones? The other option would appear to be to use Google/GMail, which seems obtuse when iTunes is already on the computer. it just seems to be a pretty blunt object for a device with such finesse.I am also trying to find out how to make good use of the Blutooth and/or Wifi connection. which is easier/better/faster or is the USB cable the best, fastest and most reliable option?
Info:
iPhone 4S, Outlook 2007

Brand new Curve 8500 series. I d/led Desktop Manager 5.0.1 - English w/ media. I'm trying to set up to sync to Outlook (calendar, contacts, memos, tasks), but Outlook doesn't appear as an option to sync to for any of these. The only options are ASCII Import/Export and Yahoo. I have Outlook 2007, and my old BB Pearl had no problems sync'ing to this program. I thought maybe Outlook would show up under Add-In Modules, but it doesn't.

When setting up the desktop software to sync with BB, a stage is reached asking for a source to be selected (Yahoo / Outlook / none / etc). As I am working with Outlook only, if I could I would select this for each, but it only appears as an option for 'Contacts'. For some reason Outlook is not offered as an option for either calendar or tasks. What is more odd is that I have successfully used the same BB and PC in the past with the Desktop software, but for some reason it just stopped working. I have tried removing and reinstalling both v5 and v6 without success. I suspect the problem might be the phone rather than the software - but heh, what do I know!

I have a 9700 Bold.I am running Outlook 2007 on my laptop.I have been synchronizing my contacts in Outlook with my 9700 without issue, using Blackberry Desktop Manager. However, I have now split my contacts within Outlook into two separate folders; one for my personal contacts and one for my business contacts. When I try to synchronize now manually, the Desktop Manager only reads my personal folder contacts and and asks to delete all my business contacts - which have been moved within Outlook out of that folder into the new business folder.Q. How can I set up a second, business, folder on my 9700 so that both folders will be synchronized when I next connect to the Desktop Manager?

When I select any of these 1.vcf through 999.vcf they all go to the same blackberry message contact. How do I delete them? Where did they come from and can I delete them? I have to scroll down past all of them in order to see my regular files. I can't mass select them and I sure hate selecting them one at a time to delete them.

I brought a new Blackberry Curve 8520 recently (PIN No: XXXXXXX) from China from a branded Blackberry Showroom. And OH I almsot forgot Im taking my precious time and the added pain to write this post to get a resolution instead of a diplomatic happy go lucky and irresponsible answer saying that "We are very sorry that feature is yet not available" or "We are sorry to hear that we will do that in near future", I've heard lot of Sorry's and Apologies over this issue, so please don't feel sorry about that if your not really sorry! My problems described step by step:
A) Whenever I receive an email on my Hotmail which is successfully configured on my BB, if there is a filter to sort it into a predefined FOLDER, then BB fails to retrieve that email?
B) Its logical to sort your emails into folders if your getting tons of email and your business relies on that medium of communication?
C) This is a GLOBAL issue faced by every BB user? Oh Yes I already did some research on the BB Support Forums and everywhere else.
D) Since my Blackberry model is 8520 aka. SmartPhone which is an understatement? SmartPhone I mean come on ? Its a Dumb Phone that cant detect Email Folders!
C) I don't want to pile up my other emails by using a solution which youre about to say -> Forward your email to another email address Inbox! Or asking me to upgrade my Hotmail?
D) Gmail works perfectly under this scenario, ie. I also use Gmail thanks to my conscience I can successfully receive all emails even if they are sorted or filtered into Folders!
E) Should we urge to ask Uncle Billy to modify Hotmail so that this work on everyones BB? Sure that would be fun but I think he's too busy!
So, the Answer I can predict with my super powers is -> Either NONE you wont respond at all! or this post might get deleted because of the nature of this issue being over reacted upon or you will say "Sorry we are working on that since our Programmers, Technicians and Engineers goofed up big time, but hopefully we will be able to fix it in the next BB so you should throw this one as soon as a new one arrives and make another Dumb purchase of a Dumb Phone !

I own a BB Curve 8520. Before having setup the BIS, I could synchronize all my Outlook stuff with the device (contacts, tasks, calendar, ...) via USB as well as Bluetooth. Since I have setup BIS, I can still synchronize my contacts with Outlook, but even when I configure the Calendar to be synched as well, nothing happens. No errors are shown in the log. Seems that the calendar sync is just skipped. Does anyone have an idea what could have gone wrong? I also already tried a soft reset of the device.

I've just baught my BB, and try to sync this with my organizer (Outlook 2003) from my PC. I have followed the different steps indicated by BB Desktop Manager, but when I launch the sync, the following message appears (in French, here translated) "Intellisync. Specific error at Connector" (orginal msg: "Erreur spécifique à Connector.")

I have a new Blackberry Curve 8530. When I set it up, I was able to synchronize my Outlook calendar to the BB but not my contacts. I was unable to synchronize my contacts because it said my BB was set up for wireless synchronization. I tried to follow the instructions for truning off wireless synching, but when I go to options in my contacts there is no wireless synchronization field for me to change. What am I missing?
Also, I updated my operating system and now I am unable to sync my calendar. When I try to select the organizer data to synronize, it won't let me select calendar because it says that calendar is not installed (and it won't let me select address book because it says it is syncing wirelessly). I have reinstalled my BB Desktop software and I read on another post that gmail might be a problem so I no longer have my gmail account on my BB. When I open my BB Desktop manager on my computer, I get a message saying "unknown error reported," which is why I reinstalled my Destop software, but I still get this message after the reinstall.

A couple of weeks ago my employer gave me a password to activate my Outlook account for my Curve 8530. I was able to send and receive emails for about 3 days, then I suddenly stopped receving emails.I can send email from my outlook address, my Sent Items appear and my Outlook calendar items appear on the blackberry calendar.I'm just not receiving emails through the Inbox.I've contacted my carrier and my IT department at work, but no one can figure out why I'm not getting emails on the Curve. The usual fixes aren't working.

I have a new curve (8530) and my carrier is Verizon. My curve was syncing with my Yahoo calendar in December without any issues. Since January it no longer syncs. My memo pad syncs, but not the calendar. I do not have Outlook on my computer, so Yahoo is my only choice of calendar. I spoke to Verizon tech support for 2 hours and we tried everything. I uninstalled and reinstalled Desktop manager, but that didn't help either.

Is there a way for me to sync with a particular "set" of contacts in Gmail rather than have them all imported to my BB 8520? Some are work related and I don't want them all on my BB, just friends and family.

I have tried and tried, but can't get Media Sync to find my BB Curve.
Desktop Manager can find my BB - and it says it's working & connected, but when I launch Media Sync, after 3 mins of searching, it says "Please connect a BB device".
I have tried without launching DTM - i.e. launching Media Sync on its own.
I have tried all variations of restarts, of both BB and laptop AND removing the battery at all sorts of stages in the process. No joy.
I don't see a drive on Windows Explorer with my BB however.
I'm running Windows Vista, SP1.
1. Device model number: 8520
2. carrier or mobile provider: Virgin Mobile
3. OS release v 5.0.0.592
Extra history:
1) I downloaded Desktop Manager from the CD and then updated it automatically.
2) I then followed some detailed instructions from this forum elsewhere and totally removed every trace of it (including regedit entries).
3) I downloaded a clean copy of the latest DTM from BB website
4) I then updated the Curve OS software - now on version 5.01 (and yes, like everyone I prefered the old style of key locking!)
5) I also replaced the USB cable since that seemed to provoke a constant cycle of reboots on my BB - this was an earlier problem that a different cable fixed, but that's another story!

I have repeatedly downloaded media sync, and I cannot transfer pictures off of my girlfriend's 8530 curve? Anyone else experience this? If so, how did you get around it?Since all the documentation is for the PC, I'm thinking RIM is trying to pull a fast one on Mac users.

Synced my phone with my gmail account last night and after doing this all my contacts were lost.Im sure this is an easy fix but I am not familiar with the phone. I make sure that the filters were off so its not that.If I go into "options" and go into "contact lists" it has my email address and says that I have "89" entries. But the phone will not display any of my contact entries.

I just got my Blackberry and I am having trouble with the Mass Storage. The Media Sync will not recognize the memory card at all. Win 7 does not recognize the card when I first plugged in my phone by USB cable the install driver fails. This failing has happened on 3 computer 2 win 7 and one XP.
I have done the normal things like battery pulls and deleting the driver and letting it reinstall reboots and reinstall programs. I also have the most current programs off the website.I also have tried putting the SD card in the slot on my laptop (3 different cards in an adapter) and none are able to transfer files without lagging into never never land.Everything else seems to work just fine. But I would like to be able to transfer photos and music and at this rate I can't transfer them at all.

I have seen several suggestions on here and tried them but still doesn't workt says on the BB desktop software that my BB doesn't have a calendar installed but it does and it works fine on the device it just won' sync. There are 2 calendars on the device Facebook (which if I knew how I would delete) and my email address

I have just upgraded from a Curve 8310 to a Curve 9300. The former was set up to sync with Outlook 2007 with no problems using an older version of the Desktop software. I have now installed the Version 6 software. The 9300 has "Outlook" as an option but refuses to accept the settings and will not Sync. Strangely, I can set it to Sync with Yahoo but Yahoo no longer seems to support Blackberry and my Calendar won't now appear at all in Yahoo after attempting to Sync.

I recently allowed Blackberry to update its software on my computer. When I next ran it, it asked for a name for the files on the computer with which to sync. It offered Brant and Outlook (not Outlook1, which I also have for e-mail). I do not understand what it is asking for and have tried both Brant and Outlook. It will not syncronize. With Brant selected, it will not even try. With Outlook selected, it tries and then tells me that it can no sync a calendar entry, then stops.
Can I go back to the old software?
