My 8520 shows strong signal from my home wifi but it will not receive datafor webbrowsing and defaults to using GPRS which means cost
If I turn off gprs for data, nothing happens at all 'cannot connect to server' Wi-Fi working fine for all pcs and laptops in the house.
I have a Blackberry Curve 8520 and have a media card inserted. All I want to do is upload my photos from the phone to my PC - I have downloaded the most recent Media Sync software and when I connect the BB, 16 photos only come up - there are more than that and these are the old photos that have previously been 'deleted'. The photos which I am viewing on the phone are nowhere to be seen. I have tried to enable USB on the memory menu and I just get these 16 old pictures.I have looked at the device on My Computer, and I can see these blasted 16 photos in the 'pictures' folder in the blackberry folder, but when I open the 'camera album' it is empty.How can this be?I think there may be a ghost in the machine, and I will be finding out soon as the **bleep** thing will be thrown against the wall and stamped on repeatedly!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a bb curve 8520 on orange, im from the uk and have virgin broadband. i have a dlink wirles router. i can connect to it no problem and get the wifi emblem in white and black showing its connected, i also have my routers name come up so its definatly connected. i have litteraly no signal in my house, either 1 bar or sos, sometimes i will get uma signal, sometimes not, my gf has the same contract and phone as i do, both are orange branded phones and she gets uma signal almost instantly as she steps into the house. why do i not get uma, are my settigns not configured properly? as i really cant send or recieve calls and messages.

At the moment, however, I'm connected to my work profile, as verified by the SSID being displayed at the top of my home screen on the phone and it showing as 'Connected' in the Wi-Fi setup options, however the 3G icon on the screen is lit up and the Wi-Fi icon is dim. So on the one hand it says I'm connected but the icon is not lit up as it usually is.Also, one of my apps doesn't connect to its server and says I need to establish a connection first, so I'm wondering if I'm not really connected.

I am connected to wifi and up till about 3 days ago everything was working fine, now it shows I am connected, but I can only get on internet for about 5 mins, I have to shut off all my connections then reconnect them for it to work again.

I have recently changed my blackberry plan to instant messages and email only and now i cannot access the internet over my home wifi. It connects but remains grayed out and no internet pages will load. I have hot rebooted several times and there is no problem with my wifi

Until about 2/3 weeks ago I had the blackberry for about 2 months and was working perfectly, however now it's started to have some problems with internet services.The problem is that most of the time it just won't connect to the internet anymore. Things like Whatsapp, Googlemail, The Blackberry Store, Browser, just don't work. Yet sometimes they do. For example with whatsapp, it will suddenly stop sending/receiving messages and then receive them hours later. BBM seems to be fairly consistent however.. but is just really slow sometimes.

I restored the .ipd file into my Black berry using Desktop Manager.The software shows 784 contacts and that is same as it was in my E 90.

Problem 1:
New messages wont show up, I have to go into general messages and select "View Folder" > "SMS Inbox"
I have it set to combined simply because I just want all my messages in the main message folder but whenever a new message comes in I have to go into the SMS inbox folder.
Problem 2:
I'm having the same trouble with my email, I keep getting the notification come up for a new email but it is no-where to be found.
Problem 3:
I've set my blackberry to the Vibrate profile, the only time it seems to vibrate is when I get a new facebook notification and thats it.

We have WiFi and the phone indicate that they are connected to the WiFi when we are in the house. However, my bill from Bell indicates several instances where the phones (all 4 at different times) are connected to the 3G network for 24+ hours at a time. Additionally, it shows the phone connected twice during that time period (as though there were 2 different sessions at exactly the same time, but with differing amount of data connected)
The explaination that Bell gives me is that there are 'minimized' applications still working on 3G even though the phone says it is on WiFi, and that each of these opens its own 'connection'My understanding of cell technology is that the phone can only access one method of Internet connectivity at a time, and that it can be explained as a 'pipe' or 'straw' carrying connectivity and all of the data. I have never heard of a phone that can access two different types at the same time, nor one that uses separate 'sessions' at the same time of either type of connectivity.
I would assume that I turn on my phone in the morning and I am in my house, it indicates WiFi, so I can browse the web, collect my email and update my Facebook on that 'session' that lasts 4 hours until I leave the house. Now my 3G kicks in and the email that I still have open now collects through the opened 3G session, as well as the page I left open downloading something.When I get to work and enter my WiFi area there, the session would then collect my email through WiFi again, and my download as well.

My iPhone is not showing that it is connected to wi-fi. My laptop is showing the wi-fi signal with a completely strong signal. I have turned the phone off & on multiple times, and have turned the wi-fi (on the phone) off & on multiple times as well, all with the same result.
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently spent a long time outdoors in the rain, but phone was never wet. Got home and when I tried to charge it, it wouldn't work. Then when I finally got it to charge (left it overnight) it had only charged to 50% and would stop immediately after reaching 50%. Now the "USB connector connected" notification randomly shows up, even when the phone is not connected to anything. Several seconds later it says it's disconnected. Is the phone damaged, or is it my charger? Just bought another battery on amazon and an external charger in case it's the phone. I read somewhere to hard reset it but I have too much stuff to back-up. If nothing else works, I'll have to do it, but I'm saving that as a last resort.
