BB Curve 8520 - 8530 :: Where Did Screen Lock Go - No Option - Dissapeared
Jun 22, 2010I've had a blackberry for around a month or so, and i have the curve 8530. I had always assigned screen lock to the left side convenience button. I plugged it in to my computer to put music on and i believe i updated the phone. my screen lock button is gone. no option. it has dissapeared.

May 26, 2010I recently took charge of a Blackberry Curve 8520 - I noticed that after I had linked it to my PC via Blackberry Desktop Manager, the icon for the keyboard lock was removed from the menu. I've looked in the obvious places in Options to try and re-instate the icon but can't seem to see anywhere which allow me to do ths. I've also searched for hidden items but nothing seems to be hidden.

When you put the Today mode on (which I really like) is there a way to change or re-arrange those? I have looked but can not find where in the phone. Jul 26, 2010I bought a Sprint 8330 from a guy on Craigslist, and it worked fine until my girlfriend freaking wiped my phone trying to guess my password. So I got on crackberry and followed the instructions from Lecture 12 of the BB 101 and got it up and running again. Or so I thought.. Now, I have no browser icon whatsoever, and all of my MMS options are gone. I believe the phone had OS4.3 before because now all of my home screen stuff looks different along with my inbox. I just wanna have my MMS and Internet back. Should I go back to 4.3? Or is this something really easy that I just don't know because I'm a first time BB user? Help pls?
Also! I had the phone flashed over to work with Cricket Mobile. I doubt that has anything to do with it though considering my MMS and internet still worked then.
BB Curve 83xx :: Lost Options Icon On Main Screen
Jan 17, 2010I organized my screen for hours on my BB8330, created some sub folders and put all icons in order. And, I lost my "Options" and "Compose" icons, which is like the most important ones! I read all suggestions here. It is not hidden, it is not in another folder, it just gone. Now when I change the Theme, I do see it, but all my work is gone, and I like my current Theme of Sprint. Any idea how to restore my lost icons on my current Theme? Look like a BB common problem.

Feb 23, 2010Just got new 8520 to replace 8320. Windows will only recognise it as a Rim Composite Device and cannot find software.
I have an existing 8320 which connects and works perfectly OK on the same laptop.
This is what I have tried so far
1. Unstalled existing Desktop software and reinstalled both with downloaded version and cd provided version
2. Installed USB/modem drivers from Blackberry downloads and tried a manual add
3. Ditto with Microsoft generic rim drivers
This has taken about 8 hours of changes so far all to no avail. The 8320 is fine tho'

Jun 18, 2010I got BB Curve 8520 and try to use the internet browser after enabling the wifi. It always fails with error "Failed to obtain an IP address". I have changed wireless security on my Linksys Router from from 'WPA-2' to 'WPA', Still the problem remains. My Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and iPhone are just working fine. I tried the above with & without simcard inserted. I have a Wi-Fi connection at home & office and want to browse using this and do not want to use BlackBerry Internet Service of my GSM operator.

Apr 8, 2010Today I downloaded a app and then I decided I didnt want it so unistalled it in which it then said I needed reboot/reset so I clicked yes and then it will not come back on now. Aug 21, 2010I recently received a message telling me that an update was available for App World. I downloaded the update, installed it and rebooted. Now I am unable to download apps. When I hit the download button it takes me to the sign in for BlackBerry ID, then to terms and conditions and then to my ID settings! The only way I can get off this screen is to press Discard, which takes me back to where I started! I just keep going round in circles.

Jun 9, 2010I have a Curve 8520 from TMobile (US).I also had a Pearl 8100 from Fido (Canada).I got the Curve unlocked and want to use it on the Fido network instead of the Pearl. I seem to have gotten everything working on the Curve, except for the email.I had the same email accounts (gmail, hotmail) set up on both phones, but for some reason now that I've switched over to the Curve on the Fido network, I can't send or receive email.I've checked all my settings, and they seem right.I can access the web, my Wi-Fi is set up, and I can send & receive texts. Anyone have any ideas about this email problem? Also, I can't remember my account username for the BB website to access my account online to change the email.When I ask to send my password, it says it has been sent to my BB, but of course I can't receive email, so I'm not getting it.

Sep 18, 2010Got a Curve 8520 and since updating yesterday, the frame rate when recording video has dropped significantly meaning jerky/jumpy video. It may be worth adding that even when in video camera mode but NOT recording the feed is still jumpy. I can see the difference by watching video I recorded before the update and also by comparing to my wifes phone (exactly the same as mine) which has not had the update yet.

Aug 26, 2010I have got a used BB8520 as a gift and am currently using. I can see the wifi networks when i use the setup wizard, but after it trie to connect, i get this " - " symbol against my wifi ( in the wifi options). The wifi SSID is recognized and i face this same issue across all the wifi networks i tried to connect. I am currently using the T-mobile prepaid card. I cannot browse the internet and i feel really bad that blackberry has this wonderful device which cannot perform a basic function like wifi connectivity easily.
Kindly help me, as i really need the wifi connectivity. As a student the data plan seems too expensive.

Issue: I recd an sms from my friend which had an exclamation mark. When i tried to reply it gave me the following message "Requested facility not implemented" & i could not reply. (i have attached the screenshot..i have darkened the area as it was a personal message) Also i asked my friend did he set any priority, he said no as he had a basic nokia handset. So how is it possible to receive an sms with red exclamation (i understand that red exclamation means high priority)

Meanwhile I was given a temp one. The number appears when I press send but although my number has now been transferred, the temp number still appears when I press send. Don't remember whether I input the number when setting up or whether it appeared automatically when the phone read the sim card. Please is there a way of me entering the new number or do I need to wait for Orange to do something, or tell Orange?I'm sure there is a very simple answer.

Mar 30, 2010I hv got blackberry 8520 phone...i hv an issue with deleting the sms from the inbox..whenever i delete the sms...al d messages under tht thread gets deleted but it does not disappear from the inbox..n wen i try to open this "deleted" msg...it doesnt open neither it gets deleted although the msg content gets deleted...

Over the last couple days my curve has not allowed me to make ourgoing calls or recieve incomming calls. The speaker "clicks" in and out seccond to seccond braking up any converstation. No matter how many bars of service I am getting. I believe it is a faulty speaker but have been getting the "run around" by both the store I bought it from -told be that my carrier will replace or fix it and then my carrier(fido) telling me that blackberry will replace or fix it.

Sep 19, 2010My blackberry curve 8520 keyboard is unresponsive. I have done several hard resets removing the battery sim card and memory card. Once I put all of the components back in the phone it restarts and brings me to the screen to enter my keyboard password. When I press the keys none of them respond and the screen stays blank and eventually dims away. NO keys word and the scroll pad will only scroll but not select. I am in dire need of a solution-
