I recently purchased a BB curve 8520, and today i noticed an icon at the top of my screen which has two circles sitting on a line so to speak? i'm unsure what it means or if i have pressed something to make it appear, if anyone has any idea of what it is and how i can get rid of it, it would be appricated!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently took charge of a Blackberry Curve 8520 - I noticed that after I had linked it to my PC via Blackberry Desktop Manager, the icon for the keyboard lock was removed from the menu. I've looked in the obvious places in Options to try and re-instate the icon but can't seem to see anywhere which allow me to do ths. I've also searched for hidden items but nothing seems to be hidden.

View 5 Replies View RelatedEver since the update I've had what I'm assuming is a notification icon on my screen and I've tried everything i can think of to figure out what it could be. It's appears to be a golden globe (almost like that of the web browser icon - which was what i though it was related to) with a number 1 next to it just as if it was a message or social network notification. Does anyone know what this icon might be and how to possibly get rid of it?

It used to be that I could see how I was connected with either the wifi symbol or the gprs symbol and I could also see the connection symbol (white square with 2 green squares). Im guessing that it could be a browser setting that needs changing but I cant find it.

Yesterday it got stuck on a white screen, with a small black clock in the middle (the kind that you see when you're waiting for a page to load on the internet browser).Even if I turn my phone off, take the battery out, or put it on charge, this "white screen of death" as I've read it being described by other people online, won't go away!!

View 6 Replies View RelatedYesterday my blackberry was on with nearly dead battery, so I plugged in the charger and it shut down and rebooted to a screen with a red line through a battery icon. I assume this means the battery is completely dead but I have tried the battery in another phone and it was fully charged. I have also tried other batteries in my phone which just resulted in the same thing. I also had this problem before and somehow it solved itself within a few hours, but it seems like this time it isn't.

Last night, I went to charge my BB after the battery had drained to find on the screen a drained battery icon with a red cross/line through it. I had reloaded the set up on my phone and it still does not work and it seems that the white loading bar under the icon still loads after it has appeared and stops at around 75%.Will a new battery fix this?As I have said, I have reloaded and wiped everything on my phone and I have also tried the 'take out the battery while it's charged, put it back in method', nothing happened.

From yesterday an 'icon' appeared on my front screen - it is similar in appearance to the twitter icon but blurred, facing the opposite way and has a 1 by the side of it constantly. I have read all my twitter messages, I have carried out the security measures I can think of but that's not to say I have done everything! On my travels through the phone it would appear I did not have encryption enabled or other such settings. I've tried a battery pull which hasn't worked. The Apps I've got loaded are Twitter, Facebook, Google Maps, Bejeweled & Accuweather.

My BB Curve 8520 is not rebooting. The Loading Line stops half way.. and nothing happend after that.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Curve 8520, and suddenly tonight, I have a read message icon on the home screen that won't go away. I have no emails or messages at all on my phone anymore, and I cleared the messages from the advanced tab thingy on the desktop manager. I've done a battery pull, turned it off and waited a few minutes before turning it back on, and nothing has worked. I even tried sending a text message to my phone from my husband's, and it showed up as 2 messages on the icon, but when I deleted that new text msg, it went back down to 1 read message and is still there.
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust got new 8520 to replace 8320. Windows will only recognise it as a Rim Composite Device and cannot find software.
I have an existing 8320 which connects and works perfectly OK on the same laptop.
This is what I have tried so far
1. Unstalled existing Desktop software and reinstalled both with downloaded version and cd provided version
2. Installed USB/modem drivers from Blackberry downloads and tried a manual add
3. Ditto with Microsoft generic rim drivers
This has taken about 8 hours of changes so far all to no avail. The 8320 is fine tho'
I got BB Curve 8520 and try to use the internet browser after enabling the wifi. It always fails with error "Failed to obtain an IP address". I have changed wireless security on my Linksys Router from from 'WPA-2' to 'WPA', Still the problem remains. My Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and iPhone are just working fine. I tried the above with & without simcard inserted. I have a Wi-Fi connection at home & office and want to browse using this and do not want to use BlackBerry Internet Service of my GSM operator.

At times the light flashes red but nothing happens. I have tryed charging it, taking battery in and out. Any advice would be grateful it is only about a month old.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently received a message telling me that an update was available for App World. I downloaded the update, installed it and rebooted. Now I am unable to download apps. When I hit the download button it takes me to the sign in for BlackBerry ID, then to terms and conditions and then to my ID settings! The only way I can get off this screen is to press Discard, which takes me back to where I started! I just keep going round in circles.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a Curve 8520 from TMobile (US).I also had a Pearl 8100 from Fido (Canada).I got the Curve unlocked and want to use it on the Fido network instead of the Pearl. I seem to have gotten everything working on the Curve, except for the email.I had the same email accounts (gmail, hotmail) set up on both phones, but for some reason now that I've switched over to the Curve on the Fido network, I can't send or receive email.I've checked all my settings, and they seem right.I can access the web, my Wi-Fi is set up, and I can send & receive texts. Anyone have any ideas about this email problem? Also, I can't remember my account username for the BB website to access my account online to change the email.When I ask to send my password, it says it has been sent to my BB, but of course I can't receive email, so I'm not getting it.

It has been stuck here all day! I called Fido earlier and asked them what to do and they told me to connect to my computer, I have done that and have tried everything and the problem still exists.
I have just upgraded to the BB 8520 Curve and I cant find predictive text anywhere?Surely it must be there somewhere !
View 8 Replies View RelatedGot a Curve 8520 and since updating yesterday, the frame rate when recording video has dropped significantly meaning jerky/jumpy video. It may be worth adding that even when in video camera mode but NOT recording the feed is still jumpy. I can see the difference by watching video I recorded before the update and also by comparing to my wifes phone (exactly the same as mine) which has not had the update yet.

I can see the wifi networks when i use the setup wizard, but after it trie to connect, i get this " - " symbol against my wifi ( in the wifi options). The wifi SSID is recognized and i face this same issue across all the wifi networks i tried to connect. I am currently using the T-mobile prepaid card. I cannot browse the internet and i feel really bad that blackberry has this wonderful device which cannot perform a basic function like wifi connectivity easily.
Kindly help me, as i really need the wifi connectivity. As a student the data plan seems too expensive.

Issue: I recd an sms from my friend which had an exclamation mark. When i tried to reply it gave me the following message "Requested facility not implemented" & i could not reply. (i have attached the screenshot..i have darkened the area as it was a personal message) Also i asked my friend did he set any priority, he said no as he had a basic nokia handset. So how is it possible to receive an sms with red exclamation (i understand that red exclamation means high priority)
