For some reason I no longer have the status bar at the top of my browser screen. It used to be that I could see how I was connected with either the wifi symbol or the gprs symbol and I could also see the connection symbol (white square with 2 green squares). Im guessing that it could be a browser setting that needs changing but I cant find it.

I can enter a www address but it just reads "loading", the little black box in the top right corner flashes then stops, disappears and nothing else happens. I end up closing it the browser down.

Yesterday it got stuck on a white screen, with a small black clock in the middle (the kind that you see when you're waiting for a page to load on the internet browser).Even if I turn my phone off, take the battery out, or put it on charge, this "white screen of death" as I've read it being described by other people online, won't go away!!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Blackberry 8520, and every time I go and use the internet browser, it takes like 10 hours to load, and once it has loaded, the page is still blank! It's not a case of internet connection, because my apps work. So I don't know what to do, I've tried resetting, and it sometimes does the trick, but after a little it starts to not work anymore.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a blackberry curve the 8500 series. And I use it for just about everything. The only problem I have is that I cant view my bank account on the browser. I am can get to the loggin screen and after I put my info in and press ok it goes to a white screen and says at the top "dual authentication".
The phone is not frozen it just wont load up my bank account. I know my bank account works on mobile devices because before I got my bb I had a phone that it worked on and my boyfriends phone lets me do it too. I know a bb can do just about everything so I am guessing there is a setting I have to change.
I recently unlocked my 8520 from t-mobile to at&t, i have the data plan with both providers. After i started using the 8520 on the at&t network i noticed that i cannot change my setting from hotspot browser to internet browser anymore which in turn i cannot use the data service with at&t that i am paying for. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an unlocked curve 8520 from Smartone Vodafone in HK and am now in China using china mobile service. I have not signed up for the blackberry email service -- my plan was to download the dedicated gmail app.
On my old Sony Ericsson W888 I was able to download the dedicated gmail java app and was using it on china mobile. I have tried to download the gmail application to the curve via both the pre-loaded browser and the hotspot wifi browser but am not allowed to -- there is an error message saying I can't access gmail and have to access gmail via the Internet. I can get to gmail using the browser, but my goal is to download the dedicated application which has a better user experience.
After these steps, I downloaded the Opera browser, thinking perhaps if I use a different browser, I could directly access the internet and download the gmail application. I downloaded the Opera mini v5 beta onto my Macbook and loaded it onto the curve via the BDM software but it does not run after loading the application. I then downloaded Opera v4.2 from its website I accessed via the Hotspot wifi browser on the curve directly. This would not run either.
Separately, I tried to access the mobile.blackberry.com homepage to download new themes but I received a page that said: "Unfortunately, your current device and/or browser are not compatible for this site." I was hoping to download some new themes to replace the vodafone pre-loaded theme.
At this point, it seems my blackberry is bascially locked down and not open to new applications -- I have not been able to successfully download / access the gmail app (which has worked here in China on another sony ericsson phone through the same carrier), the 2 opera browser versions, or the main mobile.blackberry.com site.
Questions for the forum:
1. is this a carrier issue where China Mobile is walling off access? any work-arounds? I have tried to access the internet via just a hotspot wifi browser through a regular wifi connection, but still no success.
2. why can't the curve even access blackberry's own mobile.blackberry.com home page? it's surprising that the site won't even recognize one of the company's own devices.
3. is there any way to download the gmail java app via the PC and then load it onto the curve via BDM? after searching online, I cannot file a standalone gmail app which I can download and transfer via the USB cable. does it exist and if so, please let me know where to download it.
I just upgraded to a BlackBerry Curve and was very happy when my Password Keeper just showed up, accepted my old password and had my database. However, the find function no longer works. If I type A, is says no passwords found even though I can see a bunch as soon as I open it. So how does one fix and non-functioning password keeper find function. It is painful trying to get to the ones that start with "Z!"
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a new BB Curve 8520. On my desktop I have Windows 7, with Microsoft Outlook 2007. My e-mail is a Windows Live account through Office Live, which I believe is a web-based e-mail account. This means, in order for me to get e-mail in Outlook, I have to use the Microsoft Outlook Connector. When I go to sync using Desktop Manager, I first try and install intellisync through the Wizard and I get a "successfully installed message, but when I click "OK" the error: "Folder is no longer part of system data source or the folder could not be found" appears and I am never able to sync successfully, either through the USB or wirelessly. I have uninstalled and re-installed the Desktop Manager many times. However, I am receiving the e-mails through to my BB. But if I'm unable to sync Calendar, Tasks, or clear deleted e-mails etc. with my Desktop, the BB is not a lot of help or benefit to me.
View 6 Replies View RelatedJust got new 8520 to replace 8320. Windows will only recognise it as a Rim Composite Device and cannot find software.
I have an existing 8320 which connects and works perfectly OK on the same laptop.
This is what I have tried so far
1. Unstalled existing Desktop software and reinstalled both with downloaded version and cd provided version
2. Installed USB/modem drivers from Blackberry downloads and tried a manual add
3. Ditto with Microsoft generic rim drivers
This has taken about 8 hours of changes so far all to no avail. The 8320 is fine tho'
I got BB Curve 8520 and try to use the internet browser after enabling the wifi. It always fails with error "Failed to obtain an IP address". I have changed wireless security on my Linksys Router from from 'WPA-2' to 'WPA', Still the problem remains. My Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and iPhone are just working fine. I tried the above with & without simcard inserted. I have a Wi-Fi connection at home & office and want to browse using this and do not want to use BlackBerry Internet Service of my GSM operator.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have had the curve for a few weeks now. At first i changed the settings of the browser to "hotspot" so i could use it with wifi. It was working really well, then all of a sudden it stopped durin browsing. The phone says the wifi connection is fine, but whenever i go to the broswer and try to go to a website it just says loading at the bottom and nothing happens.
Can anyone help with this? should i restart the phone setting somehow because i might have done changed some setting during browsing without realising or is this an actual issue with the phone?
i have the 8520 curve and when somebody calls me it shows the name and the number.is there any way that i can only see the name only without the number.

At times the light flashes red but nothing happens. I have tryed charging it, taking battery in and out. Any advice would be grateful it is only about a month old.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently received a message telling me that an update was available for App World. I downloaded the update, installed it and rebooted. Now I am unable to download apps. When I hit the download button it takes me to the sign in for BlackBerry ID, then to terms and conditions and then to my ID settings! The only way I can get off this screen is to press Discard, which takes me back to where I started! I just keep going round in circles.

I seem to have gotten everything working on the Curve, except for the email.I had the same email accounts (gmail, hotmail) set up on both phones, but for some reason now that I've switched over to the Curve on the Fido network, I can't send or receive email.I've checked all my settings, and they seem right.I can access the web, my Wi-Fi is set up, and I can send & receive texts. Anyone have any ideas about this email problem? Also, I can't remember my account username for the BB website to access my account online to change the email.When I ask to send my password, it says it has been sent to my BB, but of course I can't receive email, so I'm not getting it.

It has been stuck here all day! I called Fido earlier and asked them what to do and they told me to connect to my computer, I have done that and have tried everything and the problem still exists.

View 8 Replies View RelatedGot a Curve 8520 and since updating yesterday, the frame rate when recording video has dropped significantly meaning jerky/jumpy video. It may be worth adding that even when in video camera mode but NOT recording the feed is still jumpy. I can see the difference by watching video I recorded before the update and also by comparing to my wifes phone (exactly the same as mine) which has not had the update yet.

I can see the wifi networks when i use the setup wizard, but after it trie to connect, i get this " - " symbol against my wifi ( in the wifi options). The wifi SSID is recognized and i face this same issue across all the wifi networks i tried to connect. I am currently using the T-mobile prepaid card. I cannot browse the internet and i feel really bad that blackberry has this wonderful device which cannot perform a basic function like wifi connectivity easily.
Kindly help me, as i really need the wifi connectivity. As a student the data plan seems too expensive.

Issue: I recd an sms from my friend which had an exclamation mark. When i tried to reply it gave me the following message "Requested facility not implemented" & i could not reply. (i have attached the screenshot..i have darkened the area as it was a personal message) Also i asked my friend did he set any priority, he said no as he had a basic nokia handset. So how is it possible to receive an sms with red exclamation (i understand that red exclamation means high priority)
Had my BB on Orange 1 week PAYG. It took a week to bring my phone number from previous carrier,
Meanwhile I was given a temp one. The number appears when I press send but although my number has now been transferred, the temp number still appears when I press send. Don't remember whether I input the number when setting up or whether it appeared automatically when the phone read the sim card. Please is there a way of me entering the new number or do I need to wait for Orange to do something, or tell Orange?I'm sure there is a very simple answer.
I hv got blackberry 8520 phone...i hv an issue with deleting the sms from the inbox..whenever i delete the sms...al d messages under tht thread gets deleted but it does not disappear from the inbox..n wen i try to open this "deleted" msg...it doesnt open neither it gets deleted although the msg content gets deleted...

Over the last couple days my curve has not allowed me to make ourgoing calls or recieve incomming calls. The speaker "clicks" in and out seccond to seccond braking up any converstation. No matter how many bars of service I am getting. I believe it is a faulty speaker but have been getting the "run around" by both the store I bought it from -told be that my carrier will replace or fix it and then my carrier(fido) telling me that blackberry will replace or fix it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy blackberry curve 8520 keyboard is unresponsive. I have done several hard resets removing the battery sim card and memory card. Once I put all of the components back in the phone it restarts and brings me to the screen to enter my keyboard password. When I press the keys none of them respond and the screen stays blank and eventually dims away. NO keys word and the scroll pad will only scroll but not select. I am in dire need of a solution-
