View 4 RepliesI did a search and couldn't find a direct answer. If I backup my phone with the Blackberry Desktop manager. Does that save all my contacts? Thanks.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just updated my blackberry and I have a question. Prior to updating I used the PTT key just to turn on the backlight. Now it brings up my DC contacts. I can't find a setting to change it back. Is there a setting? (searched the forums didn't see anyone else complaining, other boards had people asking about it with no answers)
The only other problem I've seen with the update is last night I was on the phone with someone on a cell phone. The call "failed" and usually I get 3 trouble tones (like oldschool trouble tone) except the tone kept going until I shut the phone off.
I've looked in some older threads and had no luck, thus I come to you with a brand spanking new thread! I have a Blackberry 8350i with Nextel Direct Connect through Sprint/Nextel.
Where I work, we are regularly using the direct connect to keep in touch with coworkers. As a result, a couple of issues have come up (and from what I've seen, I'm not alone)... I'm wondering if there are any solutions for these:
1] Direct Send My Info - Shows up every time someone tries to contact me via DC. Most of our employees still use the motorola i335 (or older models), so it may be something they have no control over. However, given how often the direct connect is in use, it means I receive 50-100 of these messages a day that have no substance.
2] Contact Issues - It appears that there is some disconnect between contacts and the direct connect feature. I have contacts stored (via Contacts App) with their direct connect numbers included. However, when they come up as having called on DC, their names do not come up. In addition, it seems that, on several occasions, my direct connect list outright vanishes. This is only mildly frustrating when 100 contacts are stored. It seems as though the DC contacts are not connected to the BB contacts.
This has probably been covered, but i recently went to update OS to the 5.0, but while it was loading, the thing crashed and said a fatal error had occured. i had to go back to an older version, 4.6 i think, and now my contacts will not go in the contact list. I see them on my sim card, but when i try to copy all contacts to my contact list, it copies 1 contact, 8 times. its the damndest thing i have ever seen. i did not do a backup before the new install, my fault, but now i cannot get my contacts in my list. Has anyone had this problem or even heard of such. I called tech support, the only thing they said was it was probably a bad sim card, and to take it to the local repair store.

View 4 Replies View RelatedNow that Boost will be legitimately offering a BB, the 8330, is it worth getting rid of the 8350i? I NEVER use DC, and is gaining the 3g speeds worth losing wifi over? Are there any other details I left out that would be a dividing factor?
View 12 Replies View Relatedim having a problem with this month ago. I cant save my contacts to my phonebook. Everytime im trying to save it imy phone is just freezing and will turn off.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have my partners old 8900 curve and have been using it fine for a year, except that his old contacts were saved on the phone and mine on the SIM. I decided to delete his old contacts so I could copy mine over, I found on the internet that you can use RSET in the contact menu to delete all contacts at once. It worked perfectly but now the Blackberry will not save any new contacts, at all, ever!
It won't copy them from the SIM and it won't even save a contact when entered manually. I don't use it for anything other than phone calls and emails, so it has no apps that I know of.Also I have no software on my laptop to back it up or update it etc, I really only use it to read emails and receive phone calls when i'm not in the office.
There is no option to save a number to contacts from an SMS message.
There is no way to select the number at the top. There is no option in the menu when viewing a message or highlighting one in the list. Infact no-where on the phone is a save to contacts option for anything. Why? This kind of feature was available in the 80s on a piece of rock.
Note - The phone is running the latest software it can. Also I am aware that i can click the blackberry button to bring up the menu, select show recipients and tediously highlight then number, copy, then exit out and open up the contacts app, create or edit a contact and paste the number in. This is 100% UNACCEPTABLE from a 'smart phone', i may as well use pen paper and pidgeons.
i have an 8520 Curve and have just noticed i can't save new contacts to my phone.
I've tried adding through my address book and my phone just hangs. I've tried adding a phone number via my call registerr and it just bounces back to the original screen and i've tried adding it through the menu in my text messages and still it won't load.
i cant save anyone's phone number i tried rebooting multiple times just same error message i also did a security wipe it didn't help?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought a BB Curve 8350i off Ebay (yay me). I was starting to wonder what OS it's using? Is it using the same OS that the storm uses, or is it the old OS that looks like some thing that's way behind times?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy friend has been wanting to get an 8350i for a while now. Today he walked into RadioShack and BestBuy and both of these retail stores told him that the Nextel 8350i Blackberry had been discontinued. That they no longer carried them in their stores, but that that he could still find them at Sprint locations. They stated the reason as having too many issues. I'm thinking that the retail stores were getting too many returns and possibly decided to stop selling them ("discontinuing them"). I went to sprint website and they are still selling them.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy phone was working and just quit. My wifes 8350i connects by USB fine, but mine does not. I did all the resets and a wipe of the phone. Nothing is working to get the USB to work. Is the phone junk? With out the USB I can not load any service books for boost.
View 14 Replies View RelatedNot too long ago my employer rolled out a two-tiered phone Nextel service for employees. Some get 8350i with a full BB data plan and some get Moto i456 with voice, PTT, MMS, and limited data (feels like GPRS). I am in the latter category. While I have absolutely no justifiable business need for a data plan I despise the crappy i465 with a passion that is difficult to describe.
I thought I would solve my problem by buying a 2nd-hand 8350i on my own dime and just popping the employer-provided SIM card in it. My hope was that I would retain what I need (voice, SMS, PTT) and be on my merry way. However, it appears that I do have voice and PTT but have lost ALL messaging capability, probably because the messaging the BB goes through their own servers and I do not have BB service. Is there any way around this dilemma? I do need both PTT and SMS, and the only two QWERTY devices with PTT capability are the 8350i and the i465.
I have a BB 8350i and the usb port is broken. I have already ordered a new one and have the phone tore apart. Now what? I am looking at this thing and I am stumped.Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm at my wits end!
