i have just sync'd for the first time and seem to have overwritten the contacts on my phone from my computer without it syncing both ways. is there a way to restore all the numbers on my phone.
View 1 Repliesso I got a new iPhone and I charged it completely (never connected it to the computer) and I was using it for over a week and I had new contacts and pictures .. Etc. Now today I decided to connect it to my computer because I wanted to charge it and I was already on the computer so in iTunes it asked me if I wanted to set it up as a new phone or restore from a back.. now I had a iPhone before this one and I had backups for that phone. so I decided to go with the backup not thinking about the new contacts I had.. now I have everything I had on that old iPhone into my new phone and all my newer contacts are now gone is there any what to get those contacts back?

I am wondering how do you make all the numbers associated with a contact copy over to the phone? For example, aunt c's numbers are 954... and 305... on the sim card but when I copy all contacts only the 954 number is copied.

I have discovered that when the numbers are stored in the contacts like +1 (xxx) XXX-XXXX the name is not transposed from my contacts. This is the default for my MS Outlook Contacts. If I edit the number to +1xxxxxxxxxx, then the names are shown. Why is this happenieng? Its works either way for incomming voice calls. I dont want to have to change my entire contact list.

It shows the wrong number but under the name I am searching for. 3-4 times I called wrong person because my bold showed and dialed a different number for the name I am searching for. I don't know how to solve this.When I type the name of the contact I'm looking for my Bold 9000 displays the list of contacts as usual but the phone number of the contact is wrong. I have to scroll to another name on the list then scroll back to the name I was looking for in order to get the phone to display the correct phone number. I have been using this phone for quite some time and had always worked fine. This problem began yesterday. I do not sync the phone (never have, probably never will). I have not made any changes or added any software. The only thing I have done recently is added more contacts.I have also noticed that it is slower than usual when searching for names and it takes a long time for it to recognize that I have typed more charcters in the contact name before updating the list of results.

I tried to do it over and over again, the same number of contacts was restored, but never all of them !

View 3 Replies View Relatedi've been having one problem after another, i just security wiped my phone and i went to restore from my last backup. but my contacts didnt restore back onto the phone! i have no idea why it is not restoring back onto my phone. it is just greyed out when i try to restore in the desktop software. i have a mac btw. and i also lost all my bbm contacts because the last email i used to store my contacts was closed so i can no longer access it, if there are anyway to get those back please tell! i feel if i am able to restore contacts i can get them back!

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter a hard reset of my N8 I tried to restore my contacts from OVI Sync.But for some strange reason contacts that have only "Phone (work)" as a number loose the number (all other details are restored). But they end up without any phone number Contact that have additional info (like "Mobile phone") don't loose the "Phone (work)". Also some of the "standard" settings are lost (as they are when syncing with OVI Suite).Very annoying since you then have to choose number or address when calling/smsing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had faced this issue when i last updated my phone when the 2.1 had come out.. I installed the latest Backup and Restore application as recomended by the SE update site.. Then backed up my files onto an already existing backup (which i think has corrupted the backup), hence overwriting the file.. After that i upgraded to 2.1 and restored my files, which failed because the contacts were not successfully imported (even though the Backup and Restore app said that the import was succesful.)
i was asked to repair the firmware using PC companion and hence want to backup succesfully without any problems. I cant risk loosing my contacts again. And i want to know from others in this forum if they have faced this issue on normal backup (not overwritten on an existing backup). [URL]

First name: AMobile: 11Mobile: 22Telephone: 33Telephone: 44
When I open Ovi Suite / Contacts / Contacts in E51 and open the abovementioned contact "A" it shows:
AMobile: 11Telephone: 44Mobile (other): 22As you see it deleted one of "Telephone" labeled numbers. It also happened when I used PC suite.
It is really annoying as if I save/sync the contact using Ovi, it causes loss of contacts data.BTW there is no problem using Backup/Restore function of Ovi/PC suite, nor "Copy to memory card" function of the phone itself.

The screen on my phone is broken so I can't access any of the information on my phone. I need the phone numbers for work and its very important that I can get them back. The lady at the phone store wasn't able to retrieve the numbers, but told me to get on here and it would work if I hook a cord up to the phone. The SIM had many contacts with multiple phone numbers (mobile number, house number.etc) under a single name, but when I viewed it on xperia ray , it shows duplicate names but with different numbers under the Mobile category. Is there a way to merge these names and bring all the different numbers into Mobile, House, Others etc under one name.I searched and found some answers for "Merging" but all were referring to merging different names with common phone numbers, but what I need is just the opposite. My problem is that instead of one phone number for any given contact, there may be up to 30 of the same phone number! If there is a cell and home, both will be duplicated. What a pain! I do use mobileme but have not started on the cloud yet. Any ideas how this can happen? I showed them my iphone 4 (IOS 5.1.1) at the Verizon store and the rep said she never saw anything like that before. I live two hours from the nearest apple store.
