BB Bold :: How To Block Stolen 9900 (Password Protected)
Jul 1, 2012
My wife phone got stolen. She has an official unlock Blackberry Bold 9900 phone. I contacted our provider AT&T about blocking the device, they said that the can't do it because it is not an AT&T phone. AT&T only suspend the service. They were even unable to direct us to whom should we speak with. I would like to totally block the phone from being used with any sim. How can I do that? The device have important information and my wife has a password on the device. Can they hack it without formatting the device.
When I try to open a password-protected powerpoint file, I receive the following error message (translated):"Opening of Office 97-2003 PPT files is not supported by Slideshow to Go."I am using a Blackberry Bold 9900 (Blackbery 7 OS) with Documents to Go version 3.However, I can open password-protected Office 97-2003 Word and Excel files.

I got stolen my handbag in Istanbul. My IPhone 4s was in my bag. I need to block all service and all my information and also I tried to find my IPhone but I couldn't because they may did something.
I am using a C7 with the built in Acrobat reader LE 2.5. The application is unable to open any password protected PDFs. The acrobat reader LE 2.5 on E63 works fine.
Is there a limitation on the C7 application? Is there a workaround or any other app which will help me read pwd protected PDF?
I find it silly that the an option to find a lost or stolen phone isn't password protected and can be disabled with a few clicks. If I were a criminal, stealing an iphone, the first thing I'd do is disable that option.
Just recently bought a c3, having fun using it , its a Great Phone.I turned the Security Level to phone, and put a password in my memory card, but it seems I cant get it working.
I have a user name and password before I can go onto e-mail settings to verify my e-mail address. Problem - I cant remember user name or password. How do I disable this security feature? I miss getting my e-mails on my blackberry.
I've been trying to find a way to create a password protected file that I can use on my iphone and ipad for sensitive information. I've tried the password protection on Pages for mac, but once the file is opened in Pages on IOS, there's no way to close it.So, now I think I have a solution by creating a pdf file and adding a password to it, using Preview on mac.
1. create a file using textedit, and Export to pdf.
2. open that pdf in Preview and Export to pdf, with a password.
3. add this encrypted file to the iTunes library.
4. sync the iphone / ipad
5. use iBooks on the IOS to open the file. It will ask for the password. To close, the file, quit the iBooks App.
It looks like this meets my needs. BTW, if you're using windows instead of the mac, you can install libreoffice and use it to create the password protected pdf, then just add it to iTunes and sync the iphone. So, my question is for those who know the inner workings of the mac and IOS, and is whether this is actually secure or is this file crackable?
I was not able to open password protected pdf attachment delivered via email to my E72 phone. When I try opening, it momentarily opens Adobe and then I see this message: "Unable to open password protected file". Is there no way to open such attachments in E72?
Like always, on previous Symbian phones I have locked my memory cards with passwords and if you were to insert that locked card into another Symbian phone, it would immediately ask you to enter the password. I did so with my old phone (Nokia C7) and now after inserting that locked card in the 808, nothing comes up.. it doesn't ask for a password input. I am now stuck with a 16 gigs locked micro SD card to which I know the password but I can't unlock it! I know for sure that password protected cards will not show up on computers and it doesn't show up on my gf's Android either. I have been to a Nokia care shop and they have tried with other Nokia phones but nothing worked. They suggested using the phone it was locked with but that's not a possibility because it was broken into pieces and sent to Finland
What else can I try to be able to unlock/input my password into this SD card?
Testing the new BB 9300 I placed my sim card into the phone. To my surprise my call history appeared on my new phone...to my even bigger surprise when I got home it connected to my home WIFI automatically even though it is Password protected. How this sort of information is getting transferred, I don't think it is my sim and I am slightly concerned it is getting stored on the BES server.
how to retrieve password protected MS office excel file using Blackberry curve 9300 model. It is not opening. If no password, the excel file is opening.
Just curious... I have my lock screen enabled (with numbers, not pattern). If my phone were to get lost or stolen, how hard is it for someone to bypass the lock screen? I was looking around on google and it looked like there were some issues in the past with the ease of bypassing it, but couldn't find if it has since been resolved with Froyo and beyond (left the phone at home, so can't test). If the built in password functionality is bogus, can you recommend any apps that you all like and are impossible to crack (or at least thug proof if I were to get robbed on the subway)? I'm really not interest in apps that locak individual applications, just the overall phone.
I want to be able to leave my Wildfire S lying around the house without worrying about someone picking it up and reading my texts. I have set it up so I have to enter a password before doing anything. This is great except for one thing. When I get a text, the first few words are shown even before inputting the password. How can I stop this? I've tried all the settings in 'text settings' .
Ok, so as a student, coming back from the US to my home country, I had to change the sim card on my BB to use my phone and its features.
It asked me for my bb id and security password. I tried my default password (which had worked when I was moving to the US in the first place) but for some reason it did not work. I did what every normal person would do and set the password reset option.
It did not work and I tried every possible password till 9/10 attempts had been made. So I decided to just back up my stuff and do the data wipe. But then, after 10/10, all it did was lock me out for 15 minutes. So I took out my sim card and put it back in again, and suddenly, my phone was working fine! i don't know how, but I wasn't complaining. But then I have to reset the phone for some reason and voila! Security password being asked again and Im locked out again.
So in short, is there anyway I can get my password to work or at least do a data wipe so I can access my phone.
