BB Bold 9700 :: Randomly Shuts Down And Drains Battery
Aug 24, 2010
Less than a week ago I purchased a blackberry bold 9700 brand new on craigslist. As soon as I got it i updated the software to 5.0.0.862 because on the crackberry i saw most people said it was a good build. I run 2 email accounts on my phone and use bbm. I noticed when i received 2 emails + a bbm at the same time the phone would shut off and i would need to do a battery pull to get it to start up again. But recently i noticed that the battery meter at the top left isnt updating properly. When the phones at 50% i still have 3 out of the 5 blocks. I notice that as it begins to dip a bit low past 50% the phone shuts off and when I just do a battery pull it doesnt seem to start up. Then when i plug in the power after some time the red led comes on and then a white screen with an empty battery shows up with a line through it. Then after a while it goes away and it starts up. Is anyone else facing this problem or know a solution
Bold 9700 running 6.0, battery suddenly drains dies and phone shuts off, even though there is charge left.I've made sure to exit and close apps so they don't drain in the background.Tried replacing the phone through the carrier.
On my brother's 9700, he's experienced two random shut downs. He's with Rogers and has the latest OS installed (.743). He would notice that sometimes the phone sort of shuts off by itself. Normally he would keep the phone on standby or lock, but when he'd go to unlock the phone, he'd notice that none of the keys work (screen remains black). Normally the screen would light up and say that the phone is locked, but this doesn't happen. Then, he would hold down the End key for a couple of seconds to power up the phone, only the phone doesn't boot up from scratch. Instead, the Rogers splash screen would appear and it would go directly to his home screen. The phone is only about a week old and is brand new (not refurbished). Is there some sort of lock/standby feature that I'm unaware of that his phone is going into? Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm not sure what to do here. I bought a new battery since the old one was getting old, so I figured that was the reason it was draining over the course of the day (7am - about 10pm) , but it happened again on day 2 after a full charge (uninterrupted for about 8 hours) and it didn't even make it 11 hours. The phone is on all the time. I get updates from Facebook and email. 1-3 calls a day. I mainly text, but not more than about 30/day. I browse for about 30 min a day. I put it on the cradle to recharge overnight.
I'm new to this forum, so if this problem has been discussed & solved, I apologize. My Bold 9700 keeps dying/shutting down unexpectedly. It takes forever to get it to start back up (flashing red light). Sometimes I even have to remove the battery to get it to react. When the loading bar finishes & the screen comes back on, the battery is completely dead, even though it was at least half full before this happened. BTW, this happened several times with my old battery so I bought a new OEM battery. It's happened twice since then. Even stranger, when I was with a friend today, her Bold did exactly the same thing.
My Phone randomly sometimes drains a lot of battery. All I can see is Android system consuming maximum of it.This is the screen shot when my battery went from 80% to 30% in 9hrs with only a few minutes usage in between and only 2G data on. All sync, FB, Timescape etc disabled! And this has happened on more than one occasion.Never happened on gingerbread.
I recently purchased the Droid Bionic approximately 2 weeks ago. I got one for my husband also. Recently, my phone has been randomly shutting off and the only way to turn it back on is to remove the battery. It has also happened when the phone is on and I am charging it. My husband's phone has not randomly shut off at any time. I have downloaded a few apps which include Accuweather, Go SMS pro and PicSpeed Wallpaper. I also inserted my micro SD card from my old phone into the new phone which I just removed to see if the phone will randomly shut down. I also do not have the pocket detector on.
My blackberry bold that's a little over 5 months old Keeps randomly shutting off.. I looked at other peoples posts about theirs turning off and theirs manages to reset itself. Mine will just totally go black screen and that's it.. You can press all the buttons you want and try turn it on it wont do anything. You need to do a battery pull. And its getting worse, it does it about 6-15 times a day now.. Very very annoying cause the darn thing takes 5 miss to turn on! I notice it mostly does it most often whenever IM sending a a text, or browsing the web. Already reset the phone and nothing helped.
It has been a month since I bought my 9900. Lately I have noticed that it randomly shuts off. I think the problem is with the hardware because any slight taps on the back made it restart. Has any of you heard of this before?I really like my 9900, but this is just stupid. The phone is brand new. Is there any way I can exchange it (in seattle) for a new one, even though I bought back in Saudi Arabia?
I have a problem with my 9700 and I donīt really know if it is the phone or the battery. It shuts down when I use an aplication that needs power, like recording videos, websurfing, downloading/installing apps thats sort of stuff. It goes off, and I have to pull batt to get it started again. If I do it 3 times in a row for example, the battery goes down from 100% to 70% in just the time it needs to restart those 3 times.I tried to do a security wipe, reinstall the os (.862), taking out the micro sd and it keeps shuting down. I donīt know if it could be a battery problem or the phone. any idea?
I upgraded my BlackBerry 9900 Bold to OS 7.1.0.694. After this update, the battery drains in a few hours. Before upgrading, Iused 2g network because the battery lasted longer. In this version can not switch networks, is always on 3G. The device heats a lot.
My battery seems to drain after i try to seach from something on the internet. I can have a full battery and in the middle of a search it will shut off and restart. when it turns back on i have no battery and the radio is off. i dont know if i should just try a new battery or a setting problem.
i got a new bold 9790 and its only a day old i charged the phone all night but after an hour it died and the phone is also overheating what should i do?
Initially, my phone worked quite well; battery lasted very well; daily charging was sufficient. Then, something changed a few months ago that has vastly increased power usage. Battery charge does not last past three to four hours. I even replaced my battery -- to no avail. Challenge continues. I am close to discontinuing phone usage and replacing brand.
I got bold 9780 4 months before and I am using only for personal use.I didnt browse not even once .Hardly 30 min per day is my phone usage but still battery drains so faster. for every 6 hours i need to charge.
My BB BOLD 9780 just dies without warning me of a low battery. The battery level shows about 25% but then it just dies.Is this a software problem or bad battery?
My phone over heats and drains the battery in less than 3 hours when i'm in a wi-fi hotspot. Even if the wi-fi is turned off. This is also happening even when the phone is turned off - the phone still gets very hot! The battery has to be removed before the phone will cool down. The phone works fine any other time and usually only needs to be charged every few days, but as soon as i'm in a 'hotspot' zone I've had to charge the phone 2 to 3 times a day!
I bought my bold 9900 from UAE and used it for few months there and I suddenly had to move to Sri Lanka. The phone was very fast and the clock thing never appeared. Then i changed my sim to Dialog when I landed in Sri Lanka. The phone suddenly started to heat and the battery drained in minutes and freezes. The clock thing appears every minute and the phone battery drains even when I don't use it.
I have a Bold 9000 & one month ago I have plugged it in to a car charger (not BB original one). In that moment the phone turned off instantly and when trying to turn it back on the LCD remained completely white. I could not make or receive calls, e-mail, etc., the phone was dead whit the LCD white. when I got home I plugged in the AC charger & the phone started ok. Now if I charge it fully I can use it for one day, or half day if it is very intense used. If the battery goes bellow 75-80% & I access basic functions (e-mail, sms, browsing) in 1-2 mins the LCD goes white & the phone is dead. Basically I need to keep the battery level higher than 80% in order to make sure I can use my phone.
ok my friends bold 9800 shuts off when the battery reads at about 70%, (its a new battery) it will shut off sometimes when taking pics. when she restarts it the battery reads almost dead. she was told to get a new battery again, this is her 3rd in a year. she will charge it until its to 100% and when it shuts off it needs to reboot,
Has anybody else experienced failures with this phone? I replaced my curve with a 9700 on an upgrade, only to have the brand new Bold 9700 completely die after 6 days. The next one lasted 14 days, and now I sit with my third broken 9700 that went a whopping 2 days.
Every time, the phone will be sending a text and then shut itself off. When I try to do a hard restart by pulling the battery, I get a constantly glowing red LED for a few seconds. Before getting the third phone, I had my SIM card replaced, memory card replaced, and got a whole new set of charging cords. Heck, I hadn't even charged it since I picked it up...
While using the ENV3, at times it will shut it off by itself. I could be in the middle of a text message or just having the phone sitting on the couch next to me, but the next thing I know, the phone powers itself off. Does anyone else have this trouble??
My iPhone 3GS shuts down randomly everyday during use. Plenty of battery (more than 50% at the lowest). It just goes black. And there is a strange vertical banding in the black dead screen. Restarting begins working, apple logo appears, but after a long wait it just quits again and goes black. Again, there is plenty of battery charge, this can happen on a full charge. Have tried hard-restarting by pressing power and home with the same result. Only when I have plugged it into a power source does it boot. It can then be disconnected immediately and used for hours, or until it crashes again.
This often happens with angry birds (any version) but that's just because I play it too much, it can also happen using apple apps like mail
I purchased a new 16gb AT&T iPhone4s a few days ago and today when I went to use my phone I noticed it had turned off by itself. The only way I was able to power it back on was to hold the home and power buttons at the same time. I did a lot of research on the problem and saw that if the Diagnostics had a panic.plist that there are hardware errors or failures involved.
So I looked at my diagnostics and can confirm there are two logs with the panic.plist header. panic(cpu 0 caller 0x8007617c):lck_mtx)lock():mutex (0x9B5A2820): 0x000080000. The phone came preinstalled with OS 5.1.
So I am here to ask if this is a case where I have no choice but to replace my phone... From everything I've read it seems to be the case, but I've only had the phone for a few days and would be really upset if this were the case. I gave Apple a call and they said to basically not worry about it unless it happens again... but after doing the research it has just got me more worried.
My iPhone 4s randomly turns itself off during calls, text, and emails. It has never been dropped, gotten wet, or been exposed to extreme heat or cold, so I can't understand why all of a sudden this is happening. I bought it in October 2011, so it's not even a year old yet.
My iPhone 3GS randomly shuts down for no reason, and apparently I am not the only person having a problem with this. This happens regardless of how much battery life my phone shows, or whichever application I am using. I understand that cell phones are not built to last forever, but my phone is in to good of a condition to go out and purchase a new one.
