How do I tell if I am connecting to the internet via a Vodafone connection (and being charged for the usage) or connected via a free wifi connection? I have a Bold 9700.
View 7 RepliesI just got a new BB Bold 9700 from the UK and had it sent to me in Iraq. I've connected to my home wifi, which i used to do with my old BB to use the BBM service, but for some reason my new BB won't connect to the internet even though it is connected to my wifi. My laptop is connected to the internet through the wifi and there doesn't seem to be any problems with conflicting IP addresses or anything like that so i don't know why my BB won't connect to the internet. Could it be that my BB wasn't registered while it was in the UK or anything like that? Or is there another reason?

Then earlier, all of a sudden, it stopped working. I am connected to my router with full signal strength and can't do anything in the browser. I just don't understand why it stopped working.. but I am still connected to Wi-Fi.

It is very strange as it worked till 24 hours ago. by the way, I'm using a portable PC with wifi connection which works very well.
When i connect my bb bold 9780 to my home wifi it connects to the network but iam unable to browse the internet. iam sure iam typing in the correct SSID and password. when i try to access the internet it gives an error message "unable to find the requested server". this is the case when iam trying to connect to other wifi connections as well outside my home.but i do not have any problems in connecting to wifi hotspots and it works perfectly fine?

At home, even I turned the WiFi on it will only show white mark and the WiFi logo is still gray. When I try to scan for network to other areas it will ask for hotspot login. My friend can easily connect to her WiFi at home using the BB 9000
I cant understand. Do I need to setup anything?
I currently have a curve 9300, and my service provider is Telus Mobility. I am connected to wifi and up till about 3 days ago everything was working fine, now it shows I am connected, but I can only get on internet for about 5 mins, I have to shut off all my connections then reconnect them for it to work again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is my 1st BlackBerry. I've been given a Bold 9700 & I'm over the moon with it's basic features. I've simply transferred the PAYG SIM card out of my previous phone - a Sony Ericsson w302, where most things worked as expected. Regards the BB's other features, I was quite surprised to find personal email impossible to set up & internet to be totally WiFi Dependant. In addition, many apps (eg, msn, facebook, google maps, etc) don't work due to there being no data connection, even whilst using WiFi.
Expecting the need to upgrade to a 3g SIM card, I called orange & was told that I'd need to pay £5/mth for email & 250MB data. I consider this quite objectionable - is that really the deal & will it solve my problems? If that's the best orange can do, what experience have you guys had with other UK carriers on PAYG.

The connection seems OK, the phone gets IP address but it can only ping the router! Any other ping returns "destination unreachable" error. And the really puzzling thing is that this problem does not exist on unprotected wifi networks. Eh. I have checked on several protected wifi nets, none worked, so the problem must be with the phone itself. So far I have tried the Wifi fixer app, but it could not fix this for me. As far as I am aware I haven't changed anything and it used to be fine. It's a phone or a router issue. I think it could be phone cause the PS4, laptop and my partners phone are still fine.
- My s6 Egde connects to wifi but no Internet connectivity, while 4G works without any issues.
- No problem from the Wifi end because I've another phone and it connects just fine over wifi.
I have hade som problems with my Wifi before using my Iphone that forced me to restart the wifi on my Iphone, but it worked when i did that.
I tried to restart my router, modem and phone wich made it work but not for long. So the issue is that it connects fine to the Wifi but i dont have any internet.
I recently moved off to college and for the first two weeks the WiFi worked great. Then all of a sudden the WiFi would say connected and strong signal but all of my apps would say check connection. I've been going over my limit on mobile data because of this and recently I went home for the weekend and the phone had no problem using my WiFi at home. Also anywhere on campus my laptop and old iPhone 4 get great WiFi service so the problem has to be with my S5.
