Jul 29, 2011Today I updated my phone (model 5230) from firmware 40.??? to 50.0.001. I tried a couple of times by using the Ovi PC Suite, but it resulted each time in error 12014 (backup of phone succeeded, but update not). Then I switched to Nokia Software Updater (also on PC) which seemed to work great. However, now the media key is not working anymore.

Feb 20, 2011I've just purchased (February 2011) a Nokia 3710 from Koodo Mobile in Canada. I've found that the battery on it is absolutely horrible, and needing to recharge it after 3 days, ten texts and an hour of talk time. This is in an area with a full-bar 3G signal, and the phone set to UMTS-only instead of dual-mode. Even my four-year-old LG can handle that and not need a recharge.Anyways, the internet seems to be abuzz with talk of a firmware update that addressed performance issues with the phone, It appears that my software (version 4.35) is the latest software out there (and that is what the'update sw' feature of my phone tells me), but I've also heard that there is a firmware 9.73 that came out on February 8, 2011.Does my phone need a firmware update? I like the phone, but I will be returning it in a few days if this battery issue cannot be addressed.

Sep 7, 2011i have a nokia 5130-c2 xm for about a year and a half but i only used it for about 11 months but the other months it went for repairs 3 times. 1st time it displayed a massage "contact service"(needed a firmware upgrade from version 6.6). 2nd & 3rd time it never wanted to boot like when windows on your pc never loaded. Now the 4th time is near, not even a month has passed since i went to collect my repaired phone. Would you say the device its self is faulty or just the firmware. I never went to sites that could send me viruses or use any other themes(custom) just wanna know if i should request a new phone since i still have 6 months of warranty left.

Mar 7, 2011I've used the Nokia Communicator since the 9000i, these phones take a beating and keeps on ticking. I dug forth my old Nokia e90 after my iPhone fetish disappated. However, I've never updated the firmware of my e90 and thanks to the Ovi software, I can't even though I want to.I've tried on three seperate machines and they all give me the exact same error message in both the Ovi suite and the Software Updater. (See attachments.)The three machines I tested it on are all Windows 7 32bits. I've been googling like a mad man and I see several others have had this issue with their phones. I've also tried every trick in the book (remove expired root certificates, disable firewall, restart twice, disable antivirus etc.) to absolutely NO avail.

Jul 19, 2012I purchased Asha 302 about 20 days ago and while going through the features when I recorded some voice using voice recorded output was distorted, I contacted Nokia support through email and was told to restore factory setting. After doing the same I recorded and played AMR file it was fine but as soon as I received a call and then I checked the same recorded AMR file it was againt distorted. I reported same to Nokia support and was told to contact Nokia Care Centre which I visited yesterday there NCC people re-installed the software/OS but the problem persists. I was told that phone has to be sent back to company. I am having another Nokia C2 phone which is fine and no such problem there in that model.

Oct 25, 2010I discovered the other day I still have messages on my old Nokia 1100 phone. At first I thought ok, just put in a sim and copy them across. But the 1100 doesn't have this option. Since this handset is locked, I can't put in a sim and forward them either. It's odd the phone has internal memory but won't let you copy/move or do anything with the messages.
I've looked online for a data cable for the 1100. Maybe if I connect it to a computer I can extract or copy them then? I want to get these messages on my new phone with all the original details (dates, numbers etc.) intact. My googling so far for a data cable only brings up other nokia cables where the seller has just added the 1100 model number, but it clearly isn't the right cable for this phone.
