IPhone 5s :: IOS 8 - Music App Sorts Albums In Wrong Alphabetical Order
Dec 1, 2014
In the latest build of iOS 8 (and in previous builds of iOS 8 but for me not in iOS 7), the music app is sorting Albums in the wrong alphabetical order. (The problem doesn't affect the Artists list, for example.) I get pages like this (see below), where the As are interrupted by an L and then returns to As, only to be interrupted by a P later on. As you can see, the album under the interrupting "L" has no Ls in it by which it could be sorted under L, but even if it did, why doesn't this album then appear below with the Ls instead of sorting here oddly among the As?
The problem seems to be limited to the A section as far as I can see. This problem also makes the alphabet side scroll not work at all, so you have to manually flick through a long, long list of albums. I've tried deleting and resyncing all the music from iTunes, but this didn't fix the problem. I also tried tweaking the settings in Settings>Music (e.g., activating and deactivating Group By Album Artist), but this also didn't fix the problem. I assume this is a bug in iOS 8.
I love car mode on my S5, except for this stupid bug where it plays music in alphabetical order instead of track order when you ask it to play an album. If I say the same command using the "OK Google" feature outside of car mode, that works just fine. The metadata on the mp3 files have the correct track info.
I am trying to get a definitive answer as have been researching this for weeks and despite my best efforts still have no solution.I am using the fantastic N900 (well done Nokia!) and would like all my music on the device. All efforts so far have transferred music ok but album tracks always appears in alphabetical order in the music player as opposed to the album track order(not much good). This is despite careful tagging and trying with Windows Media Player, Media Monkey & Songbird to see if any work best.
I found out today that this might be due to the file being a .wma file. All my music is ripped to my PC in .wma as in my experience I find the quality vs file size is great and better by far than .mp3.Today I ripped a CD with WMP as .mp3 and after sync the track order was correct (although I do not want to use WMP through choice and certainly not .mp3, let alone re rip my entire CD Collection), my preference would be Media Monkey or Songbird with .wma.
Is this a bug or N900 problem? (I know they are different but it worked fine on N97 and N95 8gb previously with MM and .wma) Can anyone help? or even offer a recommendation or suggestion as to what they think is best format, application or way to have music on the N900 etc.
How to resolve this, or is it just a glitch that came up when my music player updated to the current version attached in the photo below??There's no repeat or shuffle turned on
After about 20 plus songs or so, the playlist starts all over again from the very top.... In some rare occasions, the list even starts auto shuffling itself even though shuffle isn't turned on >.< It's annoying as I have to keep going back to where I last stopped again everytime it does that. Is there any way to fix it??? I've tried turning my phone on and off and soft resetting my phone already but the problem still persists
The last time I updated the music player with the version number
With my old 3g iPhone, my notes from Outlook came into the phone in alphbetical order. With my new 4siPhone, they're all jumbled because the only sorting method is by the date the note was made. It's irritating and inconveninet. Is there a way to sort them alphabetically?
I can't seem to sort my apps that I have downloaded to "Alphabetical order" in my S6. I just cannot find this feature. Now it has just the "Edit" function on the top right hand corner. On S5 & Note Edge It has a 3 dot icon on the top right hand corner & if you press that it will show all the functions like "Sort by."
I have a galaxy S6 with lollipop ver 5.0.2. When I select apps on the home screen I used to be able to sort my apps in alphabetical order for the menu. Now all that is there is a edit button that puts a - sign on every app.
Is there a way to get my bookmarks in alphabetical order?
Every time I open my browser and go to my bookmarks they are in a different order. What can I do to keep them from moving around, if not get them in alphabetical order?
My new E72 doesn't seem to support contact groups as well as my old N73.
Once upon a time I used to prefix contact names with special characters so that I could sort by different types in the contact list.
I then got my N73 with contact groups, so I used those instead and did away with the prefixes in the names.
The N73 let me quickly switch from the full contact list to the groups tab, so that I could then select the appropriate group and find the contact within it that I wanted.
Now I've 'upgraded' to an E72, I still have Groups, but they buried in the the full contact list in alphabetical order, so I can't select them quickly.
To make matters worse, there's no use reverting back to my ol prefixing strategy, because special characters (non alphanum) now seem to be ignored as part of the collating sequence, so I cannot easily influence the order of entries.
Yesterday I decided to delete all my music library on iTunes, to make a better selection of music to put on my iPhone 4S. After the sync with iTunes, I noticed that some album remained were in gray, and unable to play on the phone. I tried to: restore the same albums remained on the phone (nothing happened, just duplicate the grey files with playable ones), change the music library, take off or put on the marks on the manually manage music etc etc....all the possible solutions that I found on the internet....
I listen to a lot of classical music and it is important to hear the movements in order, but my iPhone 4S seems to be stuck in the shuffle mode. What should I do?
So for the past month or so, whenever i tried to sync my iPhone 5 to my iMac, my music would end up out of alphabetical order on my iPhone.
The majority of music would end up under '#' on my iPhone even though its perfectly organized on my Mac and i would have to resync my phone multiple times to get at least some of the music up the list alphabetically.
Although it did have some affect, the problem still persists with a '#' ending up under every couple letters.
Is there a way to resolve this or should i restore my iPhone?
I attempted to sync my music to my iPhone 4S (iOS version 7.1.1) a while back and iTunes on my computer froze mid-sync, forcing me to quit. When I unplugged my phone and checked my music, several albums had two copies of the same song or entire albums were split apart. One in particular was split into 4 different albums, with only one containing the entirety of the song list.
After syncing music from iTunes (v10.6) to my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1) I can see all the albums, artists and songs I selected but in grey font and it's impossible to reproduce them. I know the songs are there because I can see the memory they are using, but they are not available. I tried turning off, deleting and starting from zero, selecting one song, selecting a reproduction list, always the same. My music is stored in a Time-Capsule, but this should not be the problem because I can reproduce it from iTunes...
I have a 3GS using OS 5.1. I have several Broadway albums I listen to. Is there a way I can set one album to play the songs in order rather than shuffle?
Info: iPhone 3GS, iOS 5, Main syncing computer is MacBook
So, got excited about the MotoACTV this past Saturday and bought online through Motorola. Realized soon after that my local REI had it in stock and I had a xmas gift certificate. Went to REI and purchased it - (Canceled my order for the Garmin 910XT in the process) Went back to the site to try and cancel my order but the 'Cancel items or order' button on my order page wasnt' functional. No biggie, I'll call. After being passed around to the same 3 depts TWICE, I was finally told the ecommerce section was closed for the weekend. Once again, I understand that.I then call on Monday, they tell me the order hasn't yet shipped but I'm not allowed to cancel it at that point. Don't quite understand and getting a bit frustrated at this point but whatever, I'll deal. Customer rep tells me that they'll issue a return slip and email it to me.
OK, I'm good with that.Wednesday comes and still no email with return slip. I call, go through the same 3 depts again and get someone else who tells me that it takes a while to get the return slip but I'll have it within 24 hours.24 hours goes by, I call again and get hung up on 3 times in the process before I can ever get to anyone. Once I get someone on the line, they tell me that it should be to me within the next couple of days... A RETURN SLIP?Once I finally lost my temper a bit, they said it would be 'escalated' and that I should be receiving it within a few hours... we'll see. They also let me know that I could not return it without the receipt.Meanwhile, I've completely soured on the one that I purchased and I'm considering returning it as well and changing my order back to the Garmin. By the way, I called Garmin's support team just to compare... night and day!
I am trying to transfer music to my N900 device but Ovi Music tells me it is connected in the wrong mode. It says" unplug your device and reconnect it, a menu will appear, and depending on the model, use one of the following: Media Player, Printing and Media and Media Transfer. The problem is that no menu appears on the screen of the N900. What should I do?
ie when I import an album/Compilation where some of the tracks are made with individual artists the actual album doesn't show up in "albums" as a single album but the "Music" app insists on listing every artist as their own when i select "Album". Why is it simply not possible to select "Album" and just see the album rather then the "Music" app showing every track. Ie having it show the CD and then I can click it and see all the tracks and the artists. Becaues the present view is pretty stupid and illogical. But is there some way for me to get it "how i want it" or do I just have to get used to this being the apple way and "live with it"?
ordered an iphone 4s yesterday, but i've still got no confirmation mail. is it because it's weekend? i admit i'm starting to get a bit nervous, because when checking my order list there are no orders on my user neither. though, i signed up when completing the order of the phone. did it take a while before you got the confirmation mail or did I really mess this up?
I've had this problem before where I buy an album from Ovi music, and when it goes to download to my pc I just get an error saying Download failed. The problem couldn't be rectified before and so Nokia put a credit on my account. I just went to use this credit today to download something else and the same thing has happened.I'm fed up of calling the call centre and it costing an arm and a leg to do so because I keep getting disconnected and to be honest they're bloody useless and can't do anything.
so i've got my first BlackBerry phone, Curve 9360. it was either this, or the new iPhone, but since i'm not a big fan of touch-screens i went for the 9360. so far, so good. i have one (big) problem, though..
i have most of my music albums stored on my computer as a MP3 backup. and i tried to "improve" my music BB music experience by transferring some of my albums onto my 9360. now some of the albums are OK, but some of them are split in two folders. to clarify this a bit - my albums are stored as folders containing the MP3 songs on my computer. those folders were transferred onto my 9360. an now i have (for example) one Michael Jackson - BAD ablum folder in my phone, but two Thriller, Dangerous, or HIStory folders. or one Clawfinger - Clawfinger folder, but two Use Your Brain folders. and each of the duplicate album folders contains different songs, for example Thriller album has songs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 in one folder, and song number 8 in the other one. same goes for the rest of those split albums, each folder contains songs that are not in the second folder. when i connect the phone to my computer it shows only one folder for each album.
I ordered this on the 15th at about 5:30am, a little over an hour after it was released. I printed out the confirmation page and I have the confirmation page. Nothing shows up in my orders, and when I type to search my order using my phone number or order number, nothing comes up.Has this happened to anyone else?I have to call them when they open! Also, I don't have a confirmation e-mail, because it's a different account owner with a different e-mail.
I just recently found problems with downloads certain songs. Specifically the artists Chromium, Deas Vail, Celldweller and Hawthorne Heights. What happens is I download them as usual the whole file downloads with no errors BUT the songs are firstly filed incorrectly on the P.C (not in folders of artist and album). Secondly they don't have any metadata/ info embedded in the file (artist album publisher etc) and Finally but most importantly they don't play, not on my winamp or nokia media player. If I use nokia media player an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle appears next to the Song. This has only happened with those artists so far. I'm using a Nokia N8 unlimited Music subscription.
I'm using native music app on honeycomb 3.0.1. I noticed some of my albums are duplicated on the list (but not on the filesystem, I checked using a file manager). What is strange is that the first copy have some music and the second copy have the other music missing on the first copy. I checked to see if it was a problem with the ID3 tag but aparently it is not. I even used DroID3 tag editor to autoedit ALL music from a given folder but after it finishes editing tags, the album is still duplicated with exactly the same songs on each copy. DroID3 renames the files, so apparently it is not a problem with the filename.I even cleared the Music App's cache after autoediting tags but it didn't solve the problem. I also noticed any music app that uses the index to list music have the same problem, so I don't think its a problem with the native music app.
