I have a 5s running IOS 8.1.1 and my finger print scanner has never worked the way that it should. First off instructions on this post say go to settings/general/touch id & password. When in fact my phone is Settings/touch id & password. I can delete my fingerprints and reinstall them and they work fine for a few hours. than they wont work. It is very upsetting that I spent more money for the 5s because I wanted the fingerprint scanner. I could have saved money by buying the 5c. I have gone to the Apple store on at least 5 different occasions, and they have even exchanged my phone. This is my first Apple and I feel like I have been ripped off.Â
in the last few days my fingerprint scanner has started to be quite picky. I've set it up with 5 different prints so I can unlock with either hand but recently it's not recognising any of my fingerprints. Today it;s working maybe one in every thirty attempts. I've removed fingerprints from the memory, when trying to re-add them it tells me to wipe the sensor/finger but both are clean.
A few months back I flashed xtrestolite to my g920i and have since flashed odex, deodex and several aroma versions in different combinations. Since the initial flash the scanner has not worked. Currently using the latest unikernal, though was using a different one when I first flashed. TWRP latest too.
When I try *#0* and try the sensor test I see "unfortunately, hwmoduletest has stopped working" lTrying to utilise the scanner will always show "an error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor, if this message appears repeatedly please restart your device" though restarting has never worked. I have not tried going back to stock as my carrier rom is 5.0.2 still.
A few days ago I bought a new Xperia Z5 Premium from a local reseller, and it works just fine, most of the time.Yesterday I noticed that the fingerprint scanner works pretty bad most of the time, and sometimes it chooses to not work at all.It just refuses to recognise my fingerprint, and I've deleted and registered it over and over again.I've now added three registered prints of my thumb, and it still is extremely wonky. (The sensor, and my thumb, are both clean and unharmed).I just searched the forum, and lots of people seem to have the same issue from a few months back.
My fingerprint scanner is not working. I did a factory reset and cleared cache. I also got my home button changed for a new one (i thought it was scratched). Bit the problem still persist with another home button. Button was originally replaced under warranty, so it should have fingerprint reader in it.
I went to my phone dialer and typed *#0*# -> sensors -> fingerprint and i got this: none
Ive been having issues accessing my phone via the fingerprint scanner. I have entered my finger multiple times only to have ever it work for a while then start to fail at scanning. Most of the time it's just not working but other times it comes up with an error message. I have a tempered glass screen protector on it have set it up with it on so I don't think it could be the issue due the working the progressive failure.
I have seen many reviews claiming that it is nearly impossible to use the fingerprint scanner one handed. I have successfully setup the scanner with both my thumbs and my right index finger. When I setup my thumbs, I just scanned my thumb over the sensor sideways (the natural position of your thumb when holding the phone one handed). Now whenever I unlock my phoneI just do a quick swipe down with my thumb and it work 90% of the time. When it doesn't work is when I am not covering the entire home button with my thumb.
I've been noticing lately my fingerprint scanner getting extremely hot lately. Almost too hot to touch. I've wiped the phone and reinstalled the OS (Gingerbread 2.3.4) and all updates. I've cleaned the scanner with a q-tip and a small amount of rubbing alcohol. I'm not sure what else to try, or if I even should try anything else. Should I just file a claim or is this something that's not covered?
Just curious what AT&T's thinking was behind the lack of a fingerprint scanner on this phone. For me, that's one of my favorite things about the Atrix. I must be in the minority on this I supppose.
When I woke up today my fingerprint scanner stopped working. It have done so before, but fixed itself. Today I have not been able to unlock phone once, if I don't delete current fingerprints and add a new. It then works for half an hour or so and then it can't recognize my finger anymore.
I have tried to wipe cache on Fingerprint scanner and wipe normal cache + Dalvik cache.
Setting up an exchange activesync account, the fingerprint scanner can still be used or android reverts to PIN/PASSWORD as is the case now with face unlock & pattern?
I have been reading some conflicting stuff online. Some people are saying that you must be touching the metal side rails of the phone for the scanner to read a fingerprint and that's why people with cases on are having trouble. Other people are saying your finger just needs to touch the little metal edge of the button on the back of the phone for it to work. I held my phone by the plastic top and bottom and my fingerprint unlocked it perfectly..I wasn't touching any of the metal side rails. My case hasn't arrived yet so I haven't tested it with a case on.
Scanner is very finicky. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Tried registering multiple ID's using the same finger. Tried safe mode. Diagnostic test fails (doesn't vibrate) during safe and normal mode.  I bought this phone because of the fingerprint sensor (lots of sensitive business info in the phone), so i'd love for it to work normally.
My girlfriends S6 has now a faulty Fingerprint scanner and she also lost her security Password...
Googlemail is not "installed" Now she can't Bypass lock Screen.
NO ROOT.
How to Bypass lockscreen? (i know hard reset and restore. a backup is available but not here. she has her backup on her Laptop and we can Access her Laptop in a week)... Is there a way using adb?
Or is there a way to get a new backup from locked phone?
I really love openness of Android and I always prefer root access on my Nexus devices. But I have read at a few places that, if we root our nexus 6p, fingerprint scanners might not work. Is it true? Will there be a possible solution to make fingerprint sensor work even after rooting in future?
I just upgraded from a Huawei Mate 7 and it had the option to protect individual apps via fingerprint. Is there any way to lock app with fingerprints on the nexus 6p. Like a app in google play. I know there are some aps for galaxy devices but I haven't seen anything that will work on the nexus?
Everytime I press the power button on my Samsung to wake it up, it automatically comes up with the 'no match' message, thinking that there is always a finger on the button, meaning it instantly sends me to the back up password screen.
When on the fingerprint set up tab in settings it still thinks that a finger is placed on the home button, if I try to add a new fingerprint I can leave my phone laying down without touching it and the phone starts adding up in percentages as if I was adding my own fingerprint, yet I'm not even touching it.
I have GALAXY S5 AND I am trying to unlock my phone but I cannot because the fingerprint scanner does not appear at all and it asks only for alternative password that I cannot remember,,what should I do to make the phone ask for finger print.
-The phone can't take screenshots -I can't seem to find the fingerprint scanner in the settings menu - the phone is saying I have no space left on the internal memory although I have only got a few apps - can't find out how to use swype
I have used an s2 n s3 before this so I know my way around touchwiz a bit. The phone has USB 3 n some of the Samsung apps. It also says its an s5 in the 'about phone ' section.
I have been using a new S6 for a couple of days and have stored my two thumbprints to unlock. To test that it was working I asked my friend to see if they could unlock it. To my horror the phone unlocked on their thumbprint. We tried this reperatedly - a short tap to bring up the 'Keep your finger on the Home key a little longer" message, followed by a normal tap, and the phone unlocks every time.Is this a software or hardware defect?
I have forgotten my password and to make matters worse, the phone wont accept my supposedly registered fingerprint.
I would like to avoid a reset...... I think I might be able to submit the correct password if I knew the requirements of the password, i.e. #letters, #numbers, caps, special char etc etc.
I love my S5. Have been using the fingerprint scanner to unlock without a problem since day 1.Today, it wouldn't recognize my prints at all. I went in to try to re-register them, and it won't allow me to. It asks for my alternate password, and doesn't recognize it. I know I'm typing in the correct password.
If I click on change alternate password, it accepts it, and asks me to type in a new password (twice). Upon the second time, an error message pops up saying there is an issue with the scanner and to restart the device, which I've now done three times. For now, I was able to change to pattern unlock.
