IPhone :: 4s Cannot Scan For Wifi Networks

Jun 2, 2012

I hgave reset network, reset phone, hard soft shut down, plugged it into the router-time capsule, and nothing. It just keeps on spinning around and around. I do not have a VPN network, but I tried that, and still nothing. My office is where I have wifi-plus their are 10 other wifi's in the building it used to pick up, now nothing. Even at home nothing. Just spinning and spinning. It is 2 weeks old. I bought it in Canada, and am now in Africa. I purchased it factory unlocked, and it is running the 5.1.1 software. I don't want to take my phone to the apple resellers, as I bought it at an actual Apple store, and I don't trust the guy here in Tanzania. Is their anything that I have missed that I could possibly do? If you say fixed or static IP, I have no idea how to do that so if you could explain where that said IP is so I could utilize it, and how do I input it to my phone. I'm thinking that is my last hope. Other than that the chip or antenna are fried somehow-even though it is brand new, and has had a case on it the whole time.

IPhone :: 4 On IOS 5.1.1 Using 3G Data On WiFi Networks?

Jun 11, 2012

I have an iPhone 4 and it has been using from 10MB to 100MB of my data plan while I'm on a WiFi network. This usually happens at night or when my iPhone is on standby and is killing my 200MB plan.I am almost always on a WiFi network and the most data usage seems to be around 12AM - 6AM. I have just picked up on this when I was out of state and needed to have my 3G on to get good reception (data roaming was off). Before then I usually never had my cellular network on and never had much of a problem. Now i have come home to an AT&T M-Cell. I cannot connect to the M-Cell unless I'm on 3G.

I have read many forums that all say that you need to turn off your data while I'm on a WiFi network. However this is just a work around and not a solution to what is actually using so much data. Has anyone found a better solution or has found an app that will keep a log of what is taking up so much of my data plan?

IPhone :: What's Causing My 4s Not Connect To Some Wifi Networks

May 9, 2012

Sometimes a wifi network I use everyday won't connect to my iPhone. It tries to connect but the circle keeps circulating next to the network name in settings under wifi. It did this twice, once a couple days ago for a few hours and once yesterday again before I left work. When I got to work in the morning it connected quick no issues. Also today I walked to a Mercedes dealership doing my work runs and when I got there I checked the phone and again the circle kept circulating and never connected. There is no issue of being too far from the signal so I'm not sure if this may be the iPhone issue or maybe by coincidence it being a network issue for both places I mentioned it happening.

IPhone :: 4S Can't Find Any Home Wifi Networks

May 23, 2012

I got a new iPhone 4S on May 15, 2012. It worked great at the AT&T store and connected to their secure wireless no problem. I spent 6 hours at home trying to get it to connect to my wifi network - it couldn't find mine or any of only 1 of the other 5 that my iMac can find. I have a Netgear WNDR3700 (the dual band n) router that the iMac, the Macbook, two TiVos and my old 3G phone connect with no problem - and all these devices except the iMac are downstairs in the opposite side of the house from the router. So...I reset my network settings on the phoneI turned wifi on and off again on the phoneI turned airport mode on and off again on the phoneI turned the phone off and restarted itI updated the firmware and the GUI on my routerI took off the security, walked up to the router until the phone was 3 inches away, and it found the network and connected. Safari worked fine on wifi. I walked 5 feet away and the wifi was gone. (The phone will find and connect to my neighbor's unsecured network, but drops the connection if I move more than 5 feet from where I picked it up.)I reinstated the WPA2 security, held the phone 3 inches from the router and connected via the passphrase. Signal dropped again at 5 feet away. I restarted the cable modem (just for kicks) and the router. I changed the router security keys. I added the phone's MAC address to the access list on my routerI did a factory restore on my router, changed the network names and passphrases.I took my phone to the gym, Starbucks and the Apple Store. It connected to the wifi and even made backups on iCloud. It lost the connection at the gym when I went upstairs, but it was still connected when I was outside in the parking lot, so who knows about that. At my Apple Store Genius Bar appt. - which the Apple support guy made for me after he'd been on the phone with me for an hour with no result - the guy immediately gave me A BRAND NEW PHONE. He said it must be a wifi chip problem and that they get about one of those phones a month. I thought, "Lucky me, I won the lemon phone lottery!" I switched my info to the new phone via iCloud while I was in the store and took my brand new phone home: it still sees no networks except my neighbor's and doesn't stay connected for more than 5 seconds. It makes no difference whether I remove the security or not - the phone absolutely will not find my network or any of the other 5 networks near my home.

IPhone :: 4 Won't Detect Any Wifi Networks At Home

Jun 3, 2012

I bought my iPhone last week from a friend, and took it to the AT&T store and it connected to the wifi there. When I brought it home it didn't even detect my network unless I was standing right next to my dad's computer, which is above our router. It will connect in any other area with wifi, just not at home. I have tried restoring it from a recent back up, and as a new phone. I have turned it on and off, I have tried resetting the network settings. Nothing works. I don't the taking it to the genius bar would be much help because my phone is out of warranty and I don't want to pay $200.00.

IPhone :: 4S - Unable To Find Any Wifi Networks?

Jun 27, 2012

My iPhone 4S is unable to locate any wifi networks. It shows that it searches for a network, but it never finds one, even when I set the phone on the router. I replaced the wifi antenna with no change. I restored the phone, without backups, with no change. When I check the Bluetooth setting, it appears to be on, but it doesn't give any options, and the icon just spins like its searching. I don't think there is anything to find though.

IPhone 5 :: Won't Find Any WiFi Networks Running IOS 7.1.1

Jun 24, 2014

My iPhone5 (Jan 2013) will not find any wifi networks. It's running ios 7.1.1Â

I have reset everything, turned it off and on a zillion times turned the router off and onÂ

None of the other apple products in the house are having problems with the networks.Â

So I'm thinking its a hardware problem-But here's the odd thing: every time I turn it off and on, the call forwarding icon (phone+arrow) appears. When I go into settings/phone/call forwarding it immediately goes away.Â

4G is working fine, although the last couple of days my phone has been randomly forwarding some calls to my voicemail w/o ringing; but not always.

Can't Retrieve Yahoo Mail Using Native IPhone App Whenever Switch WiFi Networks

Jun 5, 2014

I set up my Yahoo mail account on the native mail app on my iPhone 5 using my home wi-fi network. Everything works well. But when i switch wi-fi networks, it can't retrieve my emails. This happened when I'm on my office's network. I do not use cellular data (3G nor LTE). I'm strictly a wi-fi person, either at home, in the office or some coffee shop, restaurant or mall.Â

I forgot the error message, it said "can't connect to server".

Samsung Galaxy S II :: What's The Best Way To Initially Charge

May 23, 2011

I had a search and couldn't really find anything pertinent to this, but apologies if I've missed anything glaringly obvious!I know people used to say you should initially charge a new mobile phone for at least 12 hours. This always seemed ludicrous to me - surely the charging circuitry stops charging once the battery is at 100%

Some people suggest that the newer phones have different types of batteries that are less susceptible to the memory effect. Is this the case?Anyway, what would you suggest for an initial charge? I've had my SGS2 on charge for nearly 5 hours now. Is this enough, or should I give it longer? And what's the best practice for charging in general? Allow it to fully discharge every time? Is it bad to put it on charge before you go to sleep every night?

LG G4 :: WiFi Search For Networks Every 10 Seconds

I'm trying to get to the bottom of my high Android System usage (currently 60%), and noticed that if I go into settings>wifi, I can see that my phone is searching for wifi networks every 10 seconds (it shows up in the gray bar near the top that says "WI-FI NETWORKS"). If I go to menu>advanced wifi I have everything un-checked, including "allow Wi-Fi scanning." I would think this would prevent the phone's wifi from constantly searching, but apparently not.

BB Torch :: 9800 Crashes Wifi Networks?

Jul 6, 2012

When I use my phone on Wifi, it works fine for about 10-15 minsutes and then crashes the router that it connects to making the internet on the whole network go down. this happens at home, at other peoples homes, at work or even in public wifi areas like hotels or retail stores (yes I've tried it a few different places)I've tried calling my phone provider a long time ago and they were stumped at this issue but since the wifi technically works the stores refused to do anything on a warranty basis while it was still active. It's not like wifi is a must for me, the internet speed on the torch is still quite slow and I have tons of data on my plan that I don't use but I wouldn't mind getting it fixed so that I can actually turn on my wifi antenna without worrying about crashing everyone's networks.

Xperia Z3 :: Doesn't Remember WiFi Networks

May 17, 2013

I just got the new Xperia Z3, it has lots of software issues. One of those is the fact that it doesn't remember Wifi networks anymore. I have to re-select the network and re-enter the password every time.

I have read that removing all remembered Wifi networks works, but this solution is unacceptable to me as I travel a lot and have over a hundred networks remembered in my Google account. I'd rather stop buying Sony products than have to re-enter those networks again.
