It's happened before and somehow I rectified it but not now. Instead of words suggested I have that situation where one taps the key to get the right letter multi-tap? I don't remember choosing that at any stage but it's changed and I can't get it back to predictive..
View 1 RepliesI have an app, Activity Classifier, that uses the handset accelerometers to provide information on activities and total exercise. It automates exercise tracking, classifies activities by type and quantifies aerobic intensity. Live data streamed from an Xperia Arc using the app is displayed in a blog. While it is possible to use on the Active it is unfortunately more difficult on the Active than the Arc because the Active accelerometers have a fault that is hard to get around. The problem is that the accelerometers sometimes take quite a while to start sampling when either started or the sampling frequency is changed.Occasionally it can take longer than 90 seconds. The problem can be seen with the app Accelerometer Frequency. Switch between sampling frequencies and notice that sometimes it switches instantly and sometimes it doesn't. To minimise battery consumption Activity Classifier acquires data from the accelerometers for 6 seconds out of every 30. If no other app is using the accelerometers they will start and stop every sampling period. On the Active they frequently don't start and the app detects a faulty accelerometer. The app has an option to keep accelerometers on and if this is selected it will work OK but battery consumption goes up a lot. The Active comes with a pedometer app called Walkmate. I can see from the Accelerometer Frequency app that Walkmate keeps the acclerometers running at 50 Hz and running Walkmate at the same time as Activity Classifier will make Activity Classifier work OK as well. Walkmate seems pretty power efficient and uses less than half the power of the market leading pedometer app Accupedo, run in power balanced mode, but it counts a different number of steps.

View 2 Replies View Relatedyesterday out of the blue the display on my active stopped working. i connected it to the pc and did a reset/reinstalled the firmware but still no display.i can play music using the original headphones and the headset controls and the home/menu/back buttons light up when i press the unlock key but that's about it.oh yes and i think i managed to unlock the screen even though it was totally back as i could could play/pause music and skip tracks using the screen controls (pressing where i guessed the music controls were).

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I woke up this morning my phone was turned off so I try to turn it on by holding the power button, it only flashes the LED (red) 3 times between short pauses, no vibrations then stays turned off.Next, I tried to plug the charger in then holding the power button. still the same symptoms as above.Lastly, I tried plugging the charger / connector to my laptop then plugging the phone in. When I did that, the red LED shows 1 blink on intervals as opposed from the 3 blinks above.I know I still have my warranty but I want at least try and fix it because I don't like going out on weekends (the days of the week where I get to rest) so I'd rather try a fix here at home.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen using predictive text under 2.1 on my X10i in the Message application, user supplied values (i.e. non standard words input previously) take precedence over standard words. Thus if I type 'no', I get 'Norton' suggested, if I type ''in', I get 'Did', 'to' gets me ' TOM'. I've tried to empty the User Dictionary (but I get told that there are no user supplied words, obviously wrong as I remember supplying Norton, Did etc..). I've varied the predictive text settings in Default Input (Quick Text Settings), off, automatic and Select Manually but it does not seem to make any difference at all, I can't even turn predictive text off unless I go to the Android keyboard level and strike out 'Quick Fixes'. As words such as if, to, in etcetera require me to override the prioritised setting then the value of predictive text is totally lost. Using a PC, I'd delete the offending software and try reloading a new version but I don't knpw how to do this is a X10 mobile phone environment. Similarly, I'd empty the dictionary so that the priority set was null, but I'm told by my 2.1 software that the dictionary has no words in it.

The predictive text has learnt many incorrect words.
I did a factory reset a week back but the words are back since ICS features a backup of the system to my Google Account.
I bought the Xperia X10 mini in Hong Kong but I live in Thailand. The people at the shop set it up for me to use in English and it worked perfectly until I upgraded to 2.1. Now there is a bunch of things in Chinese (including apps for the Chinese equivalent of youtbe and facebook!).
The main problem is entering text. When I go to new message, the keyboard is for Chinese by default. There's a button on the right to change to English but then I loose the the spacebar key which is replaced by the key for capitals. In addition there is no predictive text in English so I have to use multitap. Under Language and keyboard, I selected the UK and English for locale. However, under "Text settings" I only have "Chinese keyboard & HWR" and under that is not possible to unclick all of them, it forces me to have at least one selected.
Is it possible to do another upgrade from another location?
I've tried to my friends pc and still it does'nt connect. i need to pgrade my firmware.

One of them has suddently stopped charging - when the charger is plugged in the phone shows no sign of receiving external power, the battery just fades out and dies. The fault is almost surely in the phone, as both batteries and chargers work fine in the other phone. Firmware has been updated.

I did microphone test and yes the voice is quite, but other sounds like wind or touch is double the volume of my voice, i had this problem earlier, but it dissapeared after vacuming the mic, but now it appeared again. Is there any way i can boost mic volume. Phone aint phone if im unhearable. I dont understand why the mic is located so deep, the hole is big and nice place for dust to sit in. And dont tell me to repair the phone through pcc or sus, u know it aint gona work.Just blowed hard in it, i think it got better but still i know its gona f up soon anyway cuz of failure design.So my question is there a way to boost mic volume, any app or something.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did the update to 4.0.2.A.0.42 yesterday, not sure what I was on before.I am now having gps issues, I get an inital fix OK but I am not getting continuas updates.It's not a bug in my IpBike App I am seeing the same behaivure with the standard google maps app and a couple of other apps I have tried.I have also checked my app on an old X8 and it's working ok there still.I have done a restart of the phone but that made no difference.The GPS itself is working OK, if I start and stop the mapping apps they get a good quick inital fix but they don't contunue to get updates.Looking in the Logcat there is nothing obviously wrong.Is there any way of going back to the previous software version?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis morning there was an software update on my xperia active, i clicked ok and it failed to download a couple of times, i figured maybe because i was downloading via wi-fi. i finaly downloaded it and then when finished it started to instal. after that my phone went into a "coma" it is non responsive, the only two vague signs of life is when i conected it to my PC and the little green light on the upper left of the screen lite up. but then the PC keeps making the plug-in plug-out sound and nothing happends, the other is when i press the on button on the phone that same green light flashes for a spit of a second and does not show up again. i've downloade SEUS and PCC tried to up date in both of them to update first and then to original setting and nothing, also tried the rapair, under softwear updates and nothing it takes for ever and and twice frozze in mid process.

When I hold my phone upright, the car would slowly veer to the right. I need to calibrate / re-calibrate my acclerometer so that I can fix this annoying issue. On Samsung, there's a calibration option on the Settings. I can't find it on my phone.
