Nokia Lumia :: Unable To Get The Phone Charged After The Battery Drained Out?
Sep 3, 2012I have a Lumia 900 from MTN South Africa. I am unable to get the phone charged after the battery drained out two days ago. This is a major problem that needs to be rectified by Nokia and Microsoft. It is also perplexing that the phone has to come on when it is charging and even more irritating is that to set an alarm, the phone needs to be on all night. Come on Microsoft get this right other Symbian Nokia alarms work perfectly even when the phone is switched off. I have been a faithful Nokia user for ten years. I am now considering switching to Samsung or Apple or if they merge, an Applesammy!

My phone now lasts a couple of hours before shutting itself off, without warning and when there is (supposedly) charge in the battery. It also drops % randomly. From 70% to 55% over the space of 10 minutes. The maximum usage I've been able to get of the phone is 6 hours (about 60-90 minutes use, the rest it's idle). I'm not sure where the problem is: the battery, the battery information on screen, the update?

I have factory reset it twice over the last week and if anything, it's just gotten worse. I have added no apps since the last reset, not even configurated email. The problem is not only the very limited battery life, it's that the battery reading is unrealiable, I feel like I never really know what the real capacity is and when it's going to die. What I have figured out is that once it hits 50% that signals the end is near. I rarely see it go under 40%, it will usually shut down before that.

More details: This happens at any charge level, for example today it shutdown at 78%. It seemed the battery was having a good day, as I had left the house 2 hours prior and disconnected the charger at 100%, so it had "only" lost 20% during two hours (mostly idle, but about 15min with location services and 20min with facebook/browsing). I got my phone out to take a photo and noted the charge (78%) and right after taking the photo the phone just stated "Shutting Down" and the battery signal in the corner was red (couldn't read %). It would not restart, I tried several times but it wouldn't complete the start-up sequence, turning itself off in about 2-5 seconds. About 30 minutes later I managed to turn it on, it showed the charge as being 16%. I thought I had enough power to send an sms, but as it was sending it shut down again as the battery was 0% and so it turned itself off (this process between turning on and the power showing 16% and shutting down took less than 2 minutes, but the sms went through! Yay for silver linings!). About an hour later I had access to my charger and connected to the power cable, which after 10 minutes said it was at 60% charge.

May 8, 2012On Saturday I dropped my iPhone 3GS in water. I kept it in rice until yesterday (Monday) and it started working again. The only problem is that it will not hold a charge. When charging, it takes 3-5 minutes for the battery to go up one percent. It also dies very fast. I had 100% battery and thirty minutes later I looked down and it was it 30%.

May 23, 2012I purchased a Blackberry curve 8520 about 6 wks ago. It stopped working about 3 weeks after purchasing it.I sent it away to be fixed (purchased from Vodafone). They sent it back and said there was nothing they could find wrong with it. The same has just happened again. The screen remains blank & it is fully charged. I have tried taking out & putting the battery back in. Sometimes it just blinks an orange light a couple of times but screen remains blank. I set it so the % shows and if seems to be losing about 1% every minute or few minutes while in use. I close all apps when I'm finished, and I'm usually only messaging. My battery usage information shows some apps using about 1% of the battery while the android system itself is using 93% of the battery. I have enabled power saver and also turned off everything except mobile data. I also applied some tips I read about to preserve battery life. Nothing seems to work. Is this a common issue with the 4.3 update or should I be taking my phone in to my provider and asking them to fix it (since it is still under warranty)....

Jun 3, 2014I have experienced an unusual problem on my HTC One. My device does not get charged at all on switched on condition even if I change cables or any other charging adaptors. It does not show anything even if I connect to the computer via USB cable. But when I switch off the device and plug into the ac power, first it shows bright red led indicator and sign of the battery for 9-10 seconds, then the brightness of led indicator decreases and at the same time it shows battery charging with battery percentage for 6-7 seconds then led indicator and sign of battery goes off completely.
Again after 4 seconds same process happens. It took about 8 hours to charge the battery from 20%-100% on Switched off condition. I did factory reset, battery calibration (I connected charger for 10-15 mins in switched off condition, then I pressed and hold power button, volume up and volume down button for 2-3 mins which repeatedly restarted the handset) as well but the problem is same.
