View 2 Replies View RelatedMy phone, it's currently using 69% of my phone's battery, while other's are below 10%e's battery has been drained mostly by cell standby according to my phone's battery usage. Is there a fix to this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that when sitting at home, one of my biggest idle battery drains is cell standby. Normally that would make sense, but I've been on WiFi the entire time my phone has been off the charger. As the screenshots show, both the WiFi and cell standby are sucking juice at the same time.
View 14 Replies View RelatedJust had my new m9, with 6.0. I noticed my cell standby in my battery usage list is over 30% most of the time. What can you say about it? Is it normal?
View 5 Replies View RelatedCell standby is eating an average of 20% of my battery daily. I've done power cycle and reset.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I don't make many calls, my battery is used by cell standyby about 35-50%. It really drains the battery. Get about 15 hours with 3 hours screen time. How do I stop this high usage? I've done factory reset and wipe cache.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSomething in my phone is causing the radio constantly be looking for a signal even though it has a signal. It seems like Im having to charge my phone at least twice a day now. Id like to steer clear of a factory data reset if I can, but if I have to I will. Running my phone with the GPS set to device only.
The stand by percent was at 11% this charge cycle. I've read that changing the preferred network type is a temp fix, but I don't see the point in disabling 4g if its meant to run on a 4g network. I've also read that google fit maybe a possible problem area. I honestly don't know what else to do. Its really frustrating that this good phone is just plagued by these small issues. Is there any way to clear the cache on the cell radios or anything like that? Also would I be able to run the Android M version of the radio firmware on my current build of 5.1? Running 5.1 build D for Verizon.
Finally got around to sticking my SIM card into my 6P and decided to leave it off the charger over night to see how much battery percentage it would take away. I fell asleep with the battery at 55% and awoke with it around 30%. Looking at the battery usage, cell standby is consuming more of the battery than anything else. I've seen this bug in previous versions of Android, but have not heard anything about it with 6.0. Is my phone bad?
I'm on Verizon if that matters at all.
Unfortunately, cell standby has been a major problem of mine for a long time. I know that it has something to do with connecting to WiFi while idle or sending streams of data required by some apps, but I don't know how to reduce the battery strain. It's battery drain can range from taking up to 25%-50% of my battery life, whether or not I use my phone during the day, and my phone will only last about 1/2 of the day.
I have been looking up ways on how to solve this on other popular threads on this site, but none have had any lasting solutions. I have done the usual battery saving tactics like turning down brightness, scanning for Wi-Fi, location, Google now, Bluetooth, sync settings, disabled bloatware that I don't need that commonly suck up battery life on other Galaxies, attempted both turning on and off advanced calling, and attempted the method where you wipe the cache partition and reboot the device, and reset the settings and restored to factory defaults, all of which only reduced the battery strain a little bit.
When I look at the battery usage the one thing that stands out is that the highest percentage of battery usage is "CELL STANDBY". This just should not be!The top of the list should be "Phone Idle" if the phone is not in use. I basicly left the phone unused today. Pulled it off the charger at 9am. Phone network set to CDMA only. WiFi off, GPS off, Bluetooth off. By 10pm my battery was down to 30% with 60% used by Cell Standby. In reading other forums, this seems to be the norm for this phone. But that doesnt make it acceptable. I have run the *228 option 2 from Verizon to update cell tower info. And my service is very good. Pretty much always 4 bars and never a dropped call.
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy Admiral does not seem to have the fantastic battery life I have heard these phones are supposed to have. Under normal usage It will not last a day without charging. I noticed that "cell Standby" is always the highest on battery usage. It's always above 25%, most times higher than that (30% to 40%). The area where I work has poor cell reception inside the buildings so I often go 25% to 50% without a signal (Sprint). Is there anything I could do to improve any of this? This is a work phone with a work email address conected to it. So I cant use an app that turns off syncing. Will keeping on wifi improve this? Seems wifi uses less power than cell standby.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I don't use my phone much, I typically see my battery use status split ~50-50 between 'cell standby' and 'phone idle.'I have a strong signal here, so I doubt I'm not getting a signal 50% of the time.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFrom the manual: When the GPS connection is active, marks your current or last known location on the map. If the icon's colours are faint,no GPS signal is available. If only cell ID based positioning is available, a red halo around the positioning icon indicates the general area you might be in. The accuracy of the estimate increases in densely populated areas.Im using newest firmware and newest Ovi Maps (free always) 3.03 and have downloaded the maps to my device (5800ME). Setting Maps only to go online on my acceptance. No problems so far.But when starting Ovi Maps the cell ID based positioning is using up mobile data traffic. I dont want that. Wait for an update or is there a setting?I guess AGPS always tries via mobil data - but in my country free GPS is perfectly enough.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy cell phone will sometimes shut down or freeze and the only way to get it to turn back on is to remove the battery and put it back in. After that I can power my phone back on again and all is good until the next time it freezes.I noticed this sometime happens when I am using the wall charger. I will plug the phone in before bed (it’s turned on), and the next morning when I take it off the charger, the phone will not power on. I have to remove the battery as indicated above.
I have had the phone for two weeks and am wondering if I have a defective battery and if getting a new one will solve the problem. Has anyone else experienced this?
as i am on the cell phone, my text tone comes through, how can i turn it off.

Does the battery drain much in standby or is it better to turn it off
View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Bb torch 9860 the day before. It was working perfectly fine until this evening. It has now stopped turning off completely which it was doing very well before. Now it goes into a standby - like mode and quickly turns on when the red button is pressed. Earlier it used to take time in loading (I know it's a time saver but what if I want to switch off my phone completely to give it some rest). I am unable to switch it off completely other than by the method of removing it's battery. Also, it had stopped showing recent updates in bbm and was suddenly not playing any media file before this thing happened. These two have now been resolved but the turn off thing still wont work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a new, unlocked Xperia Ray from Hong Kong, China. I also upgraded it to the latest available software: 4.1.B.0.587.This Xperia Ray unlocked phone does not work on Bell, Rogers or Videotron carriers in Canada who own the three Canadian cell networks. The IEMI number is rejected from these carriers. I tried the Virgin SIM (uses the Bell network) and the Rogers (Rogers network) SIM, and neither one works. I also called Telus, and no go either.Bell has other users who use the Xperia Ray and one of their affiliates Fido sells the Xperia U and the Xpreia Go. These phones show the same network specs as the Ray (HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - ST18a).Bell network (Virgin and Fido): phone must be HSPA (or UMTS) and,850 MHz and 1900 MHz compatible. (They use HSPA+) ,Rogers network: HSPA+ 850/1900 MHz ,Videotron: HSPA 1700/2100 MHz
I called Bell customer service and they say that it must be a different phone from the Canadian Xperia Ray... but that does not make sense. Isn't there only one Xperia Ray version??? How can one Xperia Ray work and the other not work???Can anyone clearly explain the problem to me? I don't get it and it really sux cause now I need to return the phone, which I really like.
My new Nokia 6350 indicates "Camera on Standby" and I cannot get off it standby. I have
1. taken out the battery and
2. reset the phone.
I've seen than HTC phones with similar features than Nokia or Motorola cell phones for instance are cheaper.. Why is that?? For instance HTC Touch Viva is cheaper than Nokia 5800, Nokia 6790 or Motorola MOTOZINE ZN5... Why is that? What are HTC phones disadvantages compared with other brands phones?
