View 24 RepliesSomething in my phone is causing the radio constantly be looking for a signal even though it has a signal. It seems like Im having to charge my phone at least twice a day now. Id like to steer clear of a factory data reset if I can, but if I have to I will. Running my phone with the GPS set to device only.
The stand by percent was at 11% this charge cycle. I've read that changing the preferred network type is a temp fix, but I don't see the point in disabling 4g if its meant to run on a 4g network. I've also read that google fit maybe a possible problem area. I honestly don't know what else to do. Its really frustrating that this good phone is just plagued by these small issues. Is there any way to clear the cache on the cell radios or anything like that? Also would I be able to run the Android M version of the radio firmware on my current build of 5.1? Running 5.1 build D for Verizon.
Unfortunately, cell standby has been a major problem of mine for a long time. I know that it has something to do with connecting to WiFi while idle or sending streams of data required by some apps, but I don't know how to reduce the battery strain. It's battery drain can range from taking up to 25%-50% of my battery life, whether or not I use my phone during the day, and my phone will only last about 1/2 of the day.
I have been looking up ways on how to solve this on other popular threads on this site, but none have had any lasting solutions. I have done the usual battery saving tactics like turning down brightness, scanning for Wi-Fi, location, Google now, Bluetooth, sync settings, disabled bloatware that I don't need that commonly suck up battery life on other Galaxies, attempted both turning on and off advanced calling, and attempted the method where you wipe the cache partition and reboot the device, and reset the settings and restored to factory defaults, all of which only reduced the battery strain a little bit.
So, have z3 dual, havent any problems with him but after 2 mounth when comes 23.4.A.1.232 became some issue. That battery lifetime of cell stendby became 35% !!! before was 7-11% only. All daytame phone take full cell quality, 5 lines on sim1 and sim2
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy phone, it's currently using 69% of my phone's battery, while other's are below 10%e's battery has been drained mostly by cell standby according to my phone's battery usage. Is there a fix to this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust had my new m9, with 6.0. I noticed my cell standby in my battery usage list is over 30% most of the time. What can you say about it? Is it normal?
View 5 Replies View RelatedCell standby is eating an average of 20% of my battery daily. I've done power cycle and reset.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I don't make many calls, my battery is used by cell standyby about 35-50%. It really drains the battery. Get about 15 hours with 3 hours screen time. How do I stop this high usage? I've done factory reset and wipe cache.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFinally got around to sticking my SIM card into my 6P and decided to leave it off the charger over night to see how much battery percentage it would take away. I fell asleep with the battery at 55% and awoke with it around 30%. Looking at the battery usage, cell standby is consuming more of the battery than anything else. I've seen this bug in previous versions of Android, but have not heard anything about it with 6.0. Is my phone bad?
I'm on Verizon if that matters at all.
When I look at the battery usage the one thing that stands out is that the highest percentage of battery usage is "CELL STANDBY". This just should not be!The top of the list should be "Phone Idle" if the phone is not in use. I basicly left the phone unused today. Pulled it off the charger at 9am. Phone network set to CDMA only. WiFi off, GPS off, Bluetooth off. By 10pm my battery was down to 30% with 60% used by Cell Standby. In reading other forums, this seems to be the norm for this phone. But that doesnt make it acceptable. I have run the *228 option 2 from Verizon to update cell tower info. And my service is very good. Pretty much always 4 bars and never a dropped call.
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy Admiral does not seem to have the fantastic battery life I have heard these phones are supposed to have. Under normal usage It will not last a day without charging. I noticed that "cell Standby" is always the highest on battery usage. It's always above 25%, most times higher than that (30% to 40%). The area where I work has poor cell reception inside the buildings so I often go 25% to 50% without a signal (Sprint). Is there anything I could do to improve any of this? This is a work phone with a work email address conected to it. So I cant use an app that turns off syncing. Will keeping on wifi improve this? Seems wifi uses less power than cell standby.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy m8 is averaging 5% / hour on full stanby. Me not touching phone at all.
I tried reboot. Same. Battery usage shows blinkfeed and android system and android os. No other apps.
I have an iPhone 4 and have iOS 5.1.1 and the battery seems to be draining pretty quickly for me. I lose 1% battery on standby about every 20 minutes or so, I don't play many games at all, and have hourly fetch email, and don't have very many notifications
Info:iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1, About 1 year old
I fully charge my iphone 4s last night after update it to ios 7.1.1. I didn't use it till 1 hour after disconect it and when i check the Use setting it have 29 mins. of use and like 55 mins of standby. The problem is I didn't use it for nothing, so what happen with that 29 minutes? the background update is setting of, so the push email notification. What could be the problem? the battery only last like 5 hours and half in this update.

My z3 (NTTDOCOMO)is brand new and working fine but after couple of uses i realize after i charge at night and unplug , in the morning battery is around 78%-80% only things battery gone is for idle and screen(**bleep**). Also yes i already have all saving modes on Since day one and i don't keep data, wifi, nfc or anything on if i don't use them.
Also im missing the download manager app the app that show what you downloaded . Its uninstallable also its running inside Since on apps it isn't disabled. My friends have z3s and they all have it on apps except me ... why?
Over the past two weeks, I have observed that my MOTOACTV has twice entered a Failure Mode in which current drawn from the battery in Standby if far higher than spec and even higher than playing music through wired headsets only. The cause is unknown, but may be related to another MOTOACTV Failure Mode - music player freak out. In the first instance, I left the unit in Standby at 70% charge and found 14 hours later that it had turned itself off - battery depleted. I powered it up, charged it and was surprised during my run to find that my SF200 wired headset line switch was functional again - the music player had not responded to the SF200 line switch for several days.
In the second instance, late on Tuesday night Feb 28, I noticed that the state-of-charge of my battery was sliding rapidly and placed it on the charger. After my morning run the next day, I charged it fully and monitored the battery. The result is charted in the image below. According to published specifications, the MOTOACTV should last 325 hours on one full charge. I have conducted extensive battery tests on my unit and have never been able to achieve a Standby discharge rate much better than 0.71%/hr or 140 hours full discharge equivalent. The Standby battery life spec should be revised. As published, it is misleading at best. In Failure Mode - Excessive Battery Drain in Standby, I measured a Standby discharge rate of 6.73%/hr or just under 15 hours of battery life in Standby on a full charge.
I do not know why my unit enters this Failure Mode. But I know I am not alone. AlmariaTeach is probably replacing his unit right now to remedy what looks like the same issue. But his device could not be cured by rebooting or factory reset, so it may have been a more advanced case. In both instances, a power-off reboot restored 'normal' Standby power use behavior and revived a non-functioning music player line switch to perfect working order.
I just got an S6 last week. So far I have tried almost all of the tweaks possible and still I find the idle drain a little too high for me.I disabled all google bloats except play service, store and gmail. Have fb, messenger, whatsapp. And have done the usual wifi search off, VoLTE disable, disable smart network switch etc. Also did a factory reset and cache wipe partition. I don't have high cell standby issue. However my battery drains at ~1.5% to 2% per hour idling with wifi. Just curious if this is the norm.
Also, my estimated battery life seem to show 14 hours at 100% charge. Even with power-saving, the estimate adds another 40minutes or so at most. I've seen some screenshots of people having ~18hours estimate. Is my battery defective?
What is this and why it took 20% of battery?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do I lower thse usage of those 2 on my phone? Because I'm having to charge my phone every day because at the end of the day, it's always like 50%-ish.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that when sitting at home, one of my biggest idle battery drains is cell standby. Normally that would make sense, but I've been on WiFi the entire time my phone has been off the charger. As the screenshots show, both the WiFi and cell standby are sucking juice at the same time.
View 14 Replies View RelatedIf I don't use my phone much, I typically see my battery use status split ~50-50 between 'cell standby' and 'phone idle.'I have a strong signal here, so I doubt I'm not getting a signal 50% of the time.
View 9 Replies View RelatedTitle says it all, I have a VZW S6 on latest update, will post pics below. Why is this happening and how could I fix it? Also i tried Wake lock detector but it is not working for me, says in kitkat needs root but I'm on lollipop with root and still not working.
View 6 Replies View RelatedLast night I put my galaxy 6s into battery save mode, charged it to 99% and put it on the nightstand. This morning (8 hours later) my phone is at 48% charge. Do I have a bad battery or is there a setting or application on that is draining the battery? Battery shows 46% battery usage by cell phone.
View 6 Replies View RelatedEver since I've left the location on (before I always left it off and just turned it on when I used the GPS), I've noticed a big drain on my battery. I only get 2 hours SOT as opposed to around 5 like before.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a Verizon GS6 running 5.1.1. A few days ago there was an update for the ANT Radio Service and ANT+ Plugins Service. I'm sure others got this update too. I'm not sure if it's related, but all of the sudden my Bluetooth is killing my battery. It won't let my phone sleep. All I have connected is a Fitbit, which I've had for 4 months and never had an issue like this. It's killing my battery and the only thing I can do is turn off Bluetooth.
