Stopped getting message symbol in top left corner and no notification tone when i recieve a message from my husband. This only happens with this contact!weird! I can find message if I check message threads,What can I do?Tried updating and deleting contact but no joy.

As an experiment I set the same mp3 as the ringtone and text notification sound. This confirmed that the text notification I am receiving is significantly lower than my ringtone which is set to maximum.
I did the update through PC Companion the other day and am now running Android 2.3.3.
Ever since i did the update i get no notification whatsoever when I get a text message. Nothing in the bar at the top of the screen, no noise no vibration. Nothing.
The only time the phone acknowledges a new etxt at all is when I actively go into the Messaging app. Once I am in I then get the icon at the top of the screen but still no notification sound. I have looked at all the settings I can find and have also done a repair, again through PC Companion. Nothing has helped.
NOTE: Ringtone for incoming calls is fine. And I also get notifications as normal for messages coming through Talk. I also get no notification when I plug my phone into the PC like I did before.
locate where I can urn off the notification sound when i send a text message. It is incredibly annoying. I only seem to be able to change the notification of received and sent messages at same time and I do not want this to be on silent as I would like to know when i get a message. I recently upraged to andrid 2.1.

The vibration mode works fine for me (both call and message notifications vibrate only), but sound notification for text messages when I am in the middle of something. View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen checking the online tutorial via AT&T's website it walks me through how to send a text message to someone in my contacts list from the text messaging screen. Once I start typing their name, it should start to automatically come up. When I try to do this on the phone, it won't do it. Do I really have to enter someone's phone number in order to do this? What if I want to add more than one person which is not an easy task either. I found where people are being told to download an app called Handcent SMS which will resolve the multiple people issue but what about accessing my contacts just by starting to type their name in the "To" line?

I've tried turning notifications on/off on Verizon Message+ (which is what I use for text), and I've tried changing the notification tone, too. For some reason, it still won't work. View 1 Replies View RelatedI really love my new Verizon LG4 coming from a Samsung S3. It picks up signal clearly where I had complete drops on S3. However, one thing has really annoyed me and I need to find a way to live with this.
The ring sound and text notification sounds are either both ON or both OFF. I have to leave the ringer on for various reasons, but then I get the text notifications all night long. Various volume apps I downloaded did not separate out the sounds. This is a really bad idea to tie these together.

-I have tried both mp3 and wav formats
-Placed them in the root directory of my microSD card and the windows folder on my phone itself.
-I don't have a visible application datasounds folder on my microSD card, which is the only other location I have read that I should put them in. (I have tried to show hidden files)
The problem is I cannot get any of the files to show up to select them in Message Settings > Notifications > New Text Message > Example.mp3
Im not even sure if this is possible, but I just want my text notification to be a vibration instead of a sound.I've tried putting the vibrate option on and text sound to 'None', but it doesn't work.

My wife and I both have an iphone 3gs. For a year or so everything worked great, but now whenever I text her she does not receive any notification (except for a split second small red notifier on the Messages icon) that the text has gone through. If she isn't looking at the Messages icon at that exact instant she wont' know I've texted her. She has to open up Messages and the text is then visible.Sometimes when we're texting each other the messages read as if I am texting myself.All of the texts are on the right side of the screen.And sometimes the phone says the text is coming from my phone when it's actually coming from her phone.This is a nuisance.When I need to send a text I'm not sure if it's being received or not.It seems like this problem started when I opened up my iCloud account.Nothing seems to fix it.Also, when my daughter uses her iPod Touch to text me it says it's coming from my wife. And, when she receives texts from her friends it comes to my phone in addition to her iPod Touch. Very confusing.No one at the Apple store could help. They just kind of pushed me along.

I have a brand new curve 9360 and I have noticed if I receive a text message the LED flashes and the notification pops up but if I leave it for more than a few minutes both these disappear! This leads to problems if im away from my phone as I would never know I had received a text

I ended up deleting the message as it wasn't important.However, a few days later, I get a message not sent notification in my bar. Selecting on it brings up my text messaging app and a box comes up Message Not Available. Clearing the notification does no good, as it just pops back up whenever I access my text messaging.

Just as it was a millisecond from turning off, I received a text.
When it turned back on, I saw the text's body in the notification center, but there was no sender identification.
When I open the Messages app icon, there's no message, and the notification WON'T GO AWAY.Â
I've asked someone to text me again, there was a notification for 2 messages unread instead of one, but when I opened it and read their text, it went back to 1 and it still won't disappear. Furthermore, I've hard reset my iPhone once more, turned it off and back one, and tried syncing it with my computer, all futile attempts to solve my problem.Â
I guess it's worth mentioning that I cleared the message from my notification center.
I am on .230 and I have noticed that with only one of my contacts when I get a text message I get the alert but no notification on my screen. It sux cause if I don't hear it I never know I get a message from this person. What makes it worse is that I get messages from this person all the time so it's not a one in a while issue.
