If you battery meter is showing that the Android OS is using large amounts of battery (mine was 43%) then all you have to do to fix it is connect the xperia play to a computer but instead of safely removing from the computer, you must pull the bar down from the top of the phone screen and press disconnect, then unplug the phone and the OS then returns to normal battery usage.

since my iphone 4S have updated to 5.1.1, I now experience excessive battery consumption like 5% down in 1h (sleep mode). I have 2x iphone 4S and they have same behaviour. Never had that before with same hardware what could cause that ?If I go in flight mode (no 3G), the consumption is back to normal (low)

is there an app that can read though all of the apps currently installed on the phone that can search for one that maybe causing battery drain? My battery seems to have gone sour lately and I don't know why. Esp today, I unplugged from my charge at 2pm and have done anything major with the device and I'm already below 50% in under 5 hours. I've spent 80% of my time on WiFi at my house. That to me seems unacceptable.
The two gaps there are I had to restart my phone for something and the second time was to clear cache partition. Currently running 5.1. Gonna do a reset to see if that fixes anything, I'd it doesn't I'm gonna try to get moto to replace and replace with a white device haha.
I4s battery drain has increased dramtaically and phone cannot be switched off, it goes through the motions but then re-boots.

I recently paired Ankovo headphones to my Galaxy S5. It has resulted in a massive battery drain on my phone (I had to factory reset to get the drain to stop). Is this a known problem and is there anything I can do to keep these devices paired up, or do I need to cease use of wireless headphones?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI tried converting several lossless FLAC files (192/24) to a lossless WMA (96/24) to listen to on Lumia 920. The conversion went fine and I checked the resulting files by playing them on the computer. They played fine as expected (no difference from the original). However transferred on a 920 those started to exhibit quantization noise and somewhat degraded sound. I don't have extraordinary expectations for the audio hardware in a phone but at times it was very noticeable - the part where a song fades into silence at its end and has prominent quantization noise (intermittent quick patches of noise/faint sound and silence) is a prime example. If the files were played back at 24 bit resolution that wouldn't have happened for sure. Also, perhaps, that wouldn't be noticeable much if there were proper ditering algorithms in place. None of this appears to be happening inside the Lumia's music player or hardware.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOver the past two weeks, I have observed that my MOTOACTV has twice entered a Failure Mode in which current drawn from the battery in Standby if far higher than spec and even higher than playing music through wired headsets only. The cause is unknown, but may be related to another MOTOACTV Failure Mode - music player freak out. In the first instance, I left the unit in Standby at 70% charge and found 14 hours later that it had turned itself off - battery depleted. I powered it up, charged it and was surprised during my run to find that my SF200 wired headset line switch was functional again - the music player had not responded to the SF200 line switch for several days.
In the second instance, late on Tuesday night Feb 28, I noticed that the state-of-charge of my battery was sliding rapidly and placed it on the charger. After my morning run the next day, I charged it fully and monitored the battery. The result is charted in the image below. According to published specifications, the MOTOACTV should last 325 hours on one full charge. I have conducted extensive battery tests on my unit and have never been able to achieve a Standby discharge rate much better than 0.71%/hr or 140 hours full discharge equivalent. The Standby battery life spec should be revised. As published, it is misleading at best. In Failure Mode - Excessive Battery Drain in Standby, I measured a Standby discharge rate of 6.73%/hr or just under 15 hours of battery life in Standby on a full charge.
I do not know why my unit enters this Failure Mode. But I know I am not alone. AlmariaTeach is probably replacing his unit right now to remedy what looks like the same issue. But his device could not be cured by rebooting or factory reset, so it may have been a more advanced case. In both instances, a power-off reboot restored 'normal' Standby power use behavior and revived a non-functioning music player line switch to perfect working order.
I have downloaded some videos from youtube, educational purposes, and when I put them onto my SD card, I get a message stating that the video type may not be supported by my phone.... Well, it should support MP4.... any ways, move the video files onto my phone. Unplug it, and check.... Yeap, videos are playing fine. No distortion, no artifacting, no sound issues... No error messages!!!
So I plug it back in, put a few more videos on, MP4 again. Then check them again. All the videos I have put on, all play without any problems. So okay, should be good for later at work.
I get to lunch time at work, think "I'll watch some of these videos" open the folder, pick a video "Cannot play video - Unsupported file type" - WTH!?
Why is it that the videos play fine after they've been put on the phone, but after 6 - 7 hours, they suddenly become an "Unsupported file type"!! From checking the videos are ALL playing fine, to when I get on my lunch at work, my phone storage is not modified / updated in ANY way, by my input. So unless the G4 is corrupting these videos, I cannot see any logical reason for why I am having this problem.
i just got my xperia play today en i got everything working 3g,wifi etc.The only problem is i cant download anything from the market, it just stays on starting download while downloading through external sites is working fine.

Any idea what could have caused this and how to fix it? I won't be able to share photos, videos since I can't view them whenever my WIFI is on.
Also, my Android Market App where you tick going to the Android Market site is not working. It just says loading. Of course this is with my WIFI on.

The first thing i noticed was the Play Store having been replaced with Android Market. I assumed it would prompt for an update automatically, but it simply wouldn't. I don't see option for an update.
I want to keep the Gingerbread and not update to ICS, but i need to Play Store. How can i get it?
Also the current Android Market won't let me download anything. It cues the apps for download but never really downloads anything.

Sony Ericsson was content to put their on touch on many areas of the device, yet, they decided to NOT touch one of worst pieces of Android. Would anyone else have liked SE to tweak the camera software? I wasn't expecting Arc-status, but I also wasn't expecting such a low-quality experience on such a "high-end" device.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo when I opened up my battery usage I noticed that Android OS was at 70% usage (69% now in screenshots). I check my battery usage several times throughout the day and Android OS was not consuming 70%. It seemed to spike to 70% consumption, which points to an error in battery usage charts.
The steeper drops at the beginning and toward the end can be attributed to the poor reception areas I was in and my heavier screen on time during those periods. The flat portion in the middle is when I went to bed and left my phone for about 8 hours. Notice there are no huge wake locks during my time off battery.
This is my current screen on time....
I'm guessing this is an error with the battery usage calculator but I'm not completely sure. How to know if this is an error with the battery usage or is Android OS really consuming 70% and how I should fix it?

after the recent update to ICS 4.0.4 my battery is draining even faster. Even when I am not using the phone, the battery is draining very fast, upon checking I see that Android OS used up atleaset 50% when on Idel and it has a Keep awake of over 9 hrs in a total period of 10 Hrs. I do not have any apps running. I just have Trillian on which is a chat app. It also has Push messaging. It reset my phone to factory defaults even today but same thing. I also do not have Wifi or Bluetooth on. Main question is what can I do to increase the battery life from 100% to 0 % in less than 12 hrs.

Battery draining @ drastic rate ever since I started using the great Xperia mini pro. Hardly a backup of 13 hours.Even tried to turn off 'accounts & sync' but no help.
just bought a brand new SE xperia play and what surprised me the most the battery last only for 9hrs on standby when fully charged. I didn't make any phone calls and the fone has died after 9hrs since fully charged.
